“Homeless beggars outside the hotel. I paid $20 a day for valet parking and my GPS got off out of the glove compartment. I am pretty sure it was stolen by on of the valet parkers. I did not get reimbursed for the stolen GPS. I would never recommend this hotel. All the restaurants were closed, no room service either. The staff all seemed like they were all in training. It was a bad experience. Next time I will stay in Minnesota. We went to Hawaii to check it out for our wedding but I would never go there again. The scenery was nice elsewhere on the island.” Sep 8, 2008 by
Steve from Braselton, GA
“This hotel was a 10 to 15 minutes walk to the beach. It was very comfortable, very clean and modern looking. The room service food was very limited. I would stay there again.” Aug 1, 2008 by
Richard from Kula, HI
“We found this accommodation below standard. Restricted space, no balcony and in a undesirable location. Second class all around.” Mar 17, 2008 by
Dawn from Cottage Grove, MN
“I was very impressed with the hotel, we got it for a very reasonable price, and we had other family members in town at other hotels and they came over, and they paid more for their hotel, and ours was nicer. They were impressed. We had a very nice stay” Mar 10, 2008 by
Jess from Redmond, WA
“For the room itself, this hotel was a great. However, all the supporting services at the hotel were lacking. the location made it difficult to get to Waikiki, which could have been okay since the bus goes right by the hotel, but the hotel did not have a concierge. Instead, it had an "Expedia area expert" who did not know anything at all, including the bus schedules of the buses going right by the hotel - she actually told us that there were no reliable schedules for the bus, but when we waited at the bus stop and got on a bus, there the schedules were, right at the front of the bus. Basically, the supporting services of the hotel were lacking. The lack of a concierge made it difficult not just to get around, but also to find restaurants to eat at, tours to take, etc. the check-in desk was sub-par. There was no room service, which I thought was pretty standard for a three-star hotel, and the cafe was only open for breakfast until 10 am, which meant there was no option for food at the hotel from 10 am until the restaurant upstairs opened for dinner. Overall, the room we stayed in felt like a 3-star room, but the lack of supporting services left you on your own to find your way during your vacation, something you'd only expect at a 2-star or below hotel - at a 3-star hotel, you expect there to be people available to help you make your vacation a success.” Mar 10, 2008 by

“I really enjoyed this property and our room. The beds were comfortable, the room was tastefully done, service was good and we loved being close to the convention center where we were attending a meeting. But also we were close to the beach, shopping and dining. Great value!” Feb 26, 2008 by
Jane from Roslyn Heights, NY
“This is generally a nice hotel for the price. Close to all. Easily accessible by cab to sites, however you can save a lot of $ if you travel by bus, for example the bus to Pearl Harbor is right outside the hotel and cost $2, if you take a cab the cost is $40. The walk to beach/park is about 10 minutes and beautiful. Right next to mall so if you forget anything its just a 2 minute walk. Hotel pool is very nice. Generally a nice experience would recommend it this hotel.” Jan 27, 2008 by
Gary from Janesville, WI
“I thought the hotel was very nice and would stay there again. The Waikiki tower is the nicer of the two and would recommend an Ocean View Room which would give a better view.” Dec 14, 2007 by
Darrell from Boise, ID
“The hotel is conveniently located next to the Ala Moana Mall. The rooms are very comfortable. There is a beautiful view of the harbor and hills from the balconies.” Nov 25, 2007 by
Ot from Bayonne, NJ
“Hotel was nice. Staff was helpful. Room was clean and bright.” Nov 16, 2007 by
Garrett from Lakewood, CA
“I rate this hotel an upscale 3 star. The lobby, bar and adjacent small are a plus. But the underground parking is tight and for it to be a 4 start it needs to have a spa. The restaurants are nice but a bit overpriced for the hotel.” Nov 11, 2007 by
Lisa from Seattle, WA
“I have always enjoyed staying here.” Nov 5, 2007 by
Gail from Yuba City, CA
“Wasn't exactly what we had hoped for (more expensive then the rate we would have paid), but they did give us a harbor view. Had to drive to Waikiki rather then being close enough to walk but was right next door to the Ala Moana shopping center.” Nov 5, 2007 by
Michael from Toronto, ON CA
“This hotel should be rated 2 stars or less. Although it was renovated, the quality was questionable. On the day we checked in, the bed was made, but the linens were dirty. There was hair on the sheets. The bathroom was modern and could be nice, but the shower spray was spraying sideways, and the tap leaked from underneath, not unlike a bad renovation job. The overall feeling of the hotel room was dirty and uncomfortable.” Nov 1, 2007 by
Wayne L. from Sacramento, CA
“Very nice lobby. Room a bit smaller than expected. Contemporary feel to the room. Walls could be better insulated from sound. Not sure what was wrong with cable TV, but not clear picture.” Oct 29, 2007 by
Allen from Houston, TX
“This is definitely not a 4 star hotel as was filled on my request. This is at most a 3 star.” Oct 28, 2007 by
Cheung from Findlay, OH
“My wife and I were pleased with the large nicely furnished room with an ocean view that cost less than a city view room in Waikiki. If you think that Waikiki is overrated (crowded, tourist trap, poor waves for surfing) then the Ala Moan is a great location to start from in exploring other parts of beautiful Oahu.” Oct 25, 2007 by
Jemima K. from Florence, KY
“I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who cares about convenience. It is centrally situated and transportation to the whole of Oahu Waikiki is available right from the hotel. It is amazingly less than 5 minutes walk to the mall and yet exclusively private. Beautiful hotel.” Oct 23, 2007 by
Gail from Peoria, AZ
“Great location too many area attractions. A shopping mall is right next door to the hotel, and a beautiful park with ocean beaches is one block away.” Oct 16, 2007 by
Mehrdad from Las Vegas, NV
“This is a good hotel for business traveler; it is expensive however even for that purpose. The first night's room had a window unit (? 4 star?). The room was so small that my wife and I could hardly walk at the same time. After paying an upgrade they put us in a suite which had central air and a balcony which made the stay more tolerable.” Oct 14, 2007 by
Jason from Airdrie, AB CA
“Great if you are going to work or with your significant other. Staff was very friendly and willing to answer all my questions. Good places to eat and being connected to the mall was a plus as well.” Oct 12, 2007 by
Paul from Irvine, CA
“The Ala Moana Hotel is not a 4 star hotel. I would give it 3.5 stars. Because, the hotel was recently renovated. This hotel is perfect for business travelers and couples. However, we had 2 children and needed more space. The service was mediocre, and the front desk was very friendly. On a positive note, it is only steps away from the Ala Moana Center (the world's largest open space shopping mall). Also, it is across the street from the less popular Ala Moana Beach. My kids had a blast there. We paid under $185 per night for the larger room. This is not a family resort/hotel. However, it is perfect for the business traveler.” Oct 9, 2007 by
Marco from Monterrey Nl, TX
“Excellent location, but you have to ask for Waikiki tower. Small rooms but clean. Hotel over rated, not a 4 star. Parking very expensive. Staff very friendly and service oriented. Nice small cabinet with microwave and freezer.” Oct 8, 2007 by
Lynda from Wailuku, HI
“It was adequate, but didn't really seem to be all that special for a 4 star hotel. There weren't any special extras. The lady at the front desk was very nice and gave us a free upgrade! I did like having the fridge in the room.” Oct 8, 2007 by
Jerry from Sunset Beach, CA
“I did not agree that its a 4 star rating, especially when you compare it to the Hawaiian Prince which is very close by.” Oct 7, 2007 by
Anita from Oceanside, CA
“Ala Moana hotel in Oahu is very comfortable. There was a microwave and refrigerator in the room for convenience. Location is excellent for shopping and some walking. Beach lagoon was across the street; mall literally next door. Hotel staff was friendly, and when asked for an upgrade to a balcony room, management staff complied with reasonable cost. Public transportation just outside front door takes you almost anywhere. Restaurant on top floor, Aarons, provides excellent selections, top notch service, and as with any upscale restaurant, it will impact your wallet. Stayed a week and would stay there again.” Oct 6, 2007 by
Alex from Daly City, CA
“Although the hotel was nice and convenient to the Ala Moana Shopping Center, it was not in the location I expected when I opted for a 4 star resort in the Waikiki Beach area.” Oct 3, 2007 by
Tammi from Bremerton, WA
“Nice hotel, but we were given a very small cramped room in the back overlooking the mall parking lot.” Aug 26, 2007 by
Karina from Austin, TX
“The accommodations were very clean and tidy. The bathroom lacked a bath tub and counter space to place toiletries. The complimentary coffee was awful as well. The concierge was rude and extremely unhelpful. They were not knowledgeable about the area and we ended up going to the nearby star bucks to get help with directions which I feel is unacceptable for a four star hotel in a tourist area. The reception area and valet service was very friendly and helpful. The location is great. Half way between downtown Honolulu and Waikiki.” Aug 19, 2007 by
Darryl Y. from San Francisco, CA
“The hotel was ok. Clearly not a 4 star hotel. Prince is listed as a 4 star. This hotel is far inferior, so I would list it as a 3 star hotel even in the Waikiki area, maybe 3.5. We had several experiences with poor service, so it didn't seem like a fluke. I wonder if it's because of the business arrangement (i.e., independently owned condos, but operated by a separate management company). I'm just wondering if the separate management company isn't as incentives to offer good service.” Aug 12, 2007 by
Akan from Etobicoke, OH
“Pool was very dirty in the afternoon and was told it would not be clean until next morning. Location is terrible to the beach, 20 minute walk.” Aug 4, 2007 by
James from Hanalei, HI
“The bedding is comfortable and the room clean but the noise level is so high for many rooms that you have to sleep with ear plugs or the doors/windows closed.” Aug 3, 2007 by
Charles from Honolulu, HI
“Certainly not a 4 stare hotel as rated. Good for general visit, but nothing special about the room, the service and the amenities.” Aug 1, 2007 by
Jason from Waianae, HI
“Very clean, good location, great Sunday brunch! I will be staying here again.” Jul 24, 2007 by
Peter from Epping, AL
“Smart service. Allowed us an early check-in at no extra charge. The hotel is well located with direct access to the Ala Moana Shopping Centre. A short bus ride to Waikiki Beach is no problem, buses are frequent.” Jul 21, 2007 by
Julie from Alta Loma, CA
“The staff was very friendly and helpful. The gym was state of the art. It was located right next to the Ala Moana mall and easy to get to Waikiki.” Jul 2, 2007 by
Don P. from Encino, CA
“If this hotel was rated as a 3 star and charged accordingly, I would say it is a nice, consistent 3-star hotel that I would stay at again.” Jun 26, 2007 by
Rick from Birmingham, MI
“Large lobby but a large lobby not makes it a four-star hotel. Rooms were tiny. Convenient to ala moan mall and ala moan beach but not convenient to Waikiki. Hotel does not provide transportation to Waikiki as does nearby Hawaiian prince hotel. Ongoing construction in the hotel made a wake-up call unnecessary.” Jun 23, 2007 by
Gary from Colorado Springs, CO
“Nice, but could use a little update or remodel.” Jun 20, 2007 by
smith
“It was awesome. Just got back from a wedding this past weekend. He had a room 2115 or something. It was facing away from the Waikiki view. While I was in line waiting to talk to the receptionist about something. We then were talking to another couple that was checking out. They had a blast and said their room was the best ever. They stayed at 3221. 32nd floor. I thought it was more expensive to stay on a higher floor, but it wasn't. They said to try to request that room. So we did and got it after they cleaned it. Everything was so nice. Best were the full ocean views from the beds. Didn't even need to walk out to the balcony. This room had the beds facing the water where the other rooms have beds facing the other direction. Will stay again and will request that room.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.May 28, 2007 by

“In Waikiki harbor, so location was good. Room very small, knobs on shower/tub were hard to use, room overlooked mace's parking lot at ala moan mall and had street traffic noise. View of ocean was nice, could have used a balcony. Hotel was 90% full when I checked in. room next to me was being cleaned/vacuumed at 10:30 pm at night, I complained and learned that was an individually owned room/condo, and not the hotel doing that. I fouled the sound of vacuuming at that time of night annoying. The staff was friendly but not overly so, but smiled. Pool could have been cleaner fitness center very nice. I think this is more a 3-1/2 star versus a 4 star hotel. It does not compare to the prince hotel in the same area which I believe is also a 4 star, this is not as nice.” May 24, 2007 by
Ted from Gualala, CA
“Good business hotel. Too far from Waikiki.” May 23, 2007 by
Lisa from Kailua Kona, HI
“Very nice.” Apr 2, 2007 by
Barbara from Fort Myers
“The resort has a lot to offer. Clean, comfortable rooms. The beds were almost 'heavenly'. Nice pool and pool bar! Best main-tai's on the island! The top floor restaurant with great view was a great for a night cap! Hotel has great location - easy walk to Waikiki beach. Ala moan beach across the street and shopping mall attached by foot bridge. Lots of restaurant choices right next door! We didn't even need a rental car! Lots to do close by; and tours are available to the Arizona memorial...” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jul 2, 2006 by

“The hotel is located next to ala Moana, Which is a large shopping mall with lots of stores from Dior and Armani to Macys and old navy. Directly across is a large park and beach.” Jun 27, 2006 by
Stephanie from Los Angeles, CA
“This is a great hotel and price is not that bad. the room was great and clean and it's also romantic with the ala moana beach just few minutes away.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.
