• I liked the pool. The staff was nice.
• The room had bugs. Room decor was old and tired. Beach is washed away.

“I don't think it qualifies as a resort with a high price tag anymore. The pool saves the hotel really. But the beach is nonexistent. The room decor is very old and tired. There were little bugs everywhere in the room. The business facilities were poor and excessively priced 65 cents a minute for internet. I went to the Marriott down the street and used theirs for 20 cents a minute. The in-room internet TV was a good idea but unfortunately did not work!”

• Loved the swimming pool and animals in the lobby.
• We were put in a basement room which smelled of mildew-assumed it was because of the price we paid for the room.

• We loved the hotel grounds! Umalu was fabulous, we ate 3 meals there and every meal was amazing best fish tacos ever!
• Room needs a makeover, small bathroom and lanai could have used a light outside.

“We loved that we got upgraded without even asking, was unsure if that would happen. We absolutely loved the pools, they truly are amazing! Loved that you could get out of the hot sun and enter the grotto for drinks and hanging out. And the food couldn't have been better at Umalu! We loved laying in the hammocks every night. The bed was super comfortable and the room was kept clean. Wished for a bigger bathroom though. The grounds were so lovely with all the art and statutes along with the wildlife. It was so soothing walking the grounds every night very zen! Every staff member greeted us with a warm Aloha when passing. We would not hesitate to stay here again! We loved it!”

• Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. They made you feel like an important guest. Hotel grounds and pool area were beautiful.

“I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The staff
was always VERY friendly and helpful. From our room we had a pool and ocean view, it was truly amazing! The hotel and outside grounds were extremely well cared for and very clean. My son who is 10 years old enjoyed the large pool area. There were two separate areas, one for children of all ages and one with a pool depth of up to 9 feet. We also attended the Luau at the Hyatt Regency and our family had a great time. The show was fun, we met some great people at our table and the food was good. The staff on-board were amazing and friendly. They went out of their way to make sure everyone was looked after. We had seen lots of whales on our excursion. The crew served us a barbeque's lunch (hamburgers, chicken breast, salads etc) which tasted great. We had a great time on this vacation and hated to leave the Island of Maui!”

• Hotel had an open and airy feel with well tended gardens and public space.
• Drink prices at the poolside bar were very high.

“The Hyatt Regency at Kaanapali is a well appointed hotel in west Maui which features attractive gardens and public spaces and an extensive art collection throughout the hotel. There are many excellent dining options on site and the hotel is a short drive to Lahaina which has more restaurant options. Rooms are spacious and beds comfortable.”

• Great pool for kids of all ages. Nice staff and nice rooms with comfortable beds.
• The food was over price and could not order pizza in, also the $15 resort fee.

“Great hotel and everyone in my family had a wonderful time at the pool. The hotel had a awesome kiddie area for my 2 year and slides, caves for my 6 and 7 year. It keep them busy for hours! The staff was very helpful and nice. Would stay here again and again.”

• Nice location and huge hotel with lots of grounds to walk around.
• Too big and long walk to the parking lot.

“Upon check in, we were assigned to a partial ocean view room when I inquired the possibility of an upper floor room. The room is nice but the bed was too soft. The bathroom had sand on the floor when we checked in, the cleaning lady did remove it the second day. The furniture was shoring wear, the pull-out couch was not comfortable at all, and it would sag down. We ended up sitting in bed to watch TV.

“The hotel is beautiful and well maintained, the staff was very friendly and helpful, when we told them we were there for our anniversary, they sent up a bottle of champagne! Everything was perfect, I would definitely stay here again!”

• The services and facilities suited my needs which made our stay very comfortable.
• The self parking lots can fill up quite fast so you have to return to the hotel early to get a spot.

“I really enjoyed staying at the Hyatt. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the amenities offered for the pool and towel service were great - and I really enjoyed the direct beach access. I would recommend this hotel to anyone!”

“The location was great and the hotel is nice in general. The hotel charges $20 to park your car. They have free parking but it's full 90% of the time. The staff was very unresponsive to any requests. This hotel was horrible in this respect.”

“Housekeeping did an excellent job even as far as organizing our shoes and providing extra toiletries. Entire staff was friendly. Hotel was very nice and even had a Macy's located inside. A nice walk to whalers village in the morning.”

“This hotel is perfect for kids ages 2 and up. The kids pool has a slide that my 2year old could go down! And a fun water area that is only 18" deep. No chicken strips by pool but did have nachos that were awesome! Service was great she even got lids for my kids sodas! Cant wait to go back!”

• The hotel was beautiful, and the scenery was amazing.
• The parking lot got full at night and the alternate lot was a bit remote.

“This was a great hotel! The room was nice, clean and quiet. The hotel is located at the end of a row of hotels along the beach that were all well tended and felt very much like being in paradise. The "beach" area right in front of the Hyatt is rather small, but if you want that, you can just walk down to the beach in front of one of the neighboring hotels. The pools are amazing- 2 waterslides (one for "big kids", one for little kids), kiddies play area, waterfalls, swim up bar, not crowded at all. Poolside drinks were expensive, but if you were willing to walk to the convenience store within the hotel, you could get a beer for a decent price.”

• Pool and location were great. So was the gym.
• The beach wasn't much of a beach.

“The hotel was great and a great place to vacation whether as a couple or with family. The animals and penguins were especially cute and we loved the pool including the waterfalls and slide. It was extremely convenient and great to walk along the boardwalk to easy shopping and restaurants. It's not the Four Seasons, but definitely a top-notch experience.”

• Public areas (grounds, pool, etc.). Best breakfast/servers ever!
• Rooms (including beds) badly need upgrade.

“Stayed 10 days, would not go back. Our room needed a deep cleaning! Also, rooms are dated and in need of a complete upgrade to meet expectations at this level! Beds very poor! Amenities (pool, tennis, grounds, breakfast) fantastic. Felt nickel and dimmed to death. Cannot justify a $15. Most of our interaction with staff couldn't have been better. However, one particular service rep at the front desk ruined it with a "Motel 6" attitude!”

• Additional resort fee of $15 per day! Charge for minibar water during water supply disruption.

“Great resort which offers all experiences with excellent facilities. But you have to pay an additional "Resort Fee" at a daily cost of $15. I found this fee offensive and felt it should have been absorbed into the room rate. The location is a short walk away from the main town area where you can shop, eat or get transport around the island. A local inter-resort shuttle is also available. A very nice vacation spot.”

• Beautiful location. Great if you don't have a car as you can walk anywhere.
• The wood on the bed stuck out to far and we hit our toes every night. along with other hotel guests as we found out at the pool.

“Lots of nice things to offer overall. Nice grounds with lush landscape situated beachfront. The sushi was extremely pricey though, & the resort as a whole is getting older and doesnt live up to its memories. Suggest some TLC throughout. Would not wish today retail to stay here.”

• The restaurants were very expensive as were the drinks.

• Surely in need of updating, not Hyatt material.

“Aside from location the hotel in general just needs some updating. Our biggest disappointment was the room we were assigned. It was next to the elevator shafts so very noisy, the bathroom was so small you could hardly turn around and was essentially totally unacceptable, when reported to the front desk the only option was to pay for an upgrade at a charge which we did.”

• Beautiful pool. Fun water slide. Good for families or couples.
• Tiny little ants on the mini bar station. Slow service at sushi restaurant and watery Mai Tais.

“Lovely hotel with beautiful landscaping on great Maui beach. Rooms showing some wear and a little dusty. Also saw a steady stream of little ants on the mini bar. Overall, nice Oceanside hotel and a great pool. Friendly staff. Restaurants and casual poolside restaurant very overpriced for service and food. I paid $25 for a veggie burger, fries, and water.”

• The lobby, pool, and surrounding grounds are gorgeous!
• Hallway smelled of mold. Bed was ho hum and towels were cheap.

“The view of this place is amazing. The pool and amenities are great. Be prepared to pay a resort fee for using the gym per day - even if you don't want to use the gym. The quality of the bedding and linens did not match that if the overall facility (2 stars quality). It is a great resort to visit, but I don't know if I would spend the big bucks to stay there again.”

“The biggest disappointment about our experience was the dated nature of the accommodations and the overall facilities. The resort is definitely ready for a make-over and it shows nearly everywhere. We will definitely pick another hotel for our next Maui trip. The luau was also not worth the price and parking was always a challenge.”

“A beautiful resort complex in Ka'anapali with lots of great things to see and do. Separate kids pool with great features, lots of pool side chairs and cabanas to rent. Beach area is not the best in Ka'anapali and hotel extras are expensive, but big room size and wonderful staff balance that out some.”

• Grounds are very nice.
• Besides the people at the check in counter, nobody else that works there smiles.

“I was there 25 years ago when it first opened and it was beautiful. The exterior still looks great, but it has aged. The rooms need to be updated. The hotel personnel should take a lesson from the staff at the 4 Seasons in Wailer. What a difference! All the employees at the 4 Seasons are extremely friendly and warm.”

• Overall atmosphere of the property and grounds. Wonderful and picturesque.
• Price of all restaurants and food. I know we are in Hawaii, but give me a break - $18 for a hamburger?

“Wonderful experience overall. Staff was most helpful and eager to assist. Resort property was incredible with pools, gardens, and wildlife. Breakfast buffet purchased at resort was excellent. Other restaurants on site were a bit pricy. Would recommend this property very highly to anyone considering staying in Iahaina Maui.”

• Very comfortable room, nice size. Grounds beautifully kept.
• Prices of the food are extremely high and overpriced for the quality.

“Staff very friendly and eager to help. Everything was kept clean. Ground manicured beautifully. Kid friendly pool. Nice walking path with swans, flamingos, etc. Torch lit walking path. However, this is a large resort with lots of families. Sometimes noisy in atrium area that could be heard in room. The overall area was very busy. If looking for quiet romantic get away try (No Suggestions) area.”

• Big pool, great views of the ocean.
• Limited choice of restaurants, no restaurants open at lunch time except poor poolside café.

“Nice hotel close to the water in West Maui, large pool with waterfalls and water slide which are novel. However, not much to do outside of the outdoor activities as most restaurants are closed during the day and the quality of food at most restaurants is sub par.”

• Rooms were great, bed comfortable, great restaurants.
• Large business group came in, disruptive to relaxing vacation environment.

“Hyatt's are generally consistently good properties. Our experience in Maui was excellent. Upon check in since it was quiet we were upgraded to a room with a view. Superb! The pool and fitness center were excellent. Only complaint was when a large business group came in they were omnipresent. This was unfortunate because we were there to relax not to be exposed to business and cell phones everywhere you went in the hotel. (Rude on the Argonne folk¿s part).”

• Pool w/waterslide was unique and fun.
• A bit pretentious.

“Spectacularly manicured and well kept lobby and grounds. Huge and beautiful pool w/waterslide, fabulous foliage with interesting animals (penguins, swans, kopi, flamingos) throughout which make it fun to explore, beds are exceptional. Only down side is that it felt a bit pretentious at times and there are a lot of "extra fees" for activities, equipment rentals, use of facilities, etc.”
