“The hotel met and exceeded my expectations. It's like a tropical oasis in the lava "desert".” Feb 20, 2008 by
Louis from Dallas, TX
“Awesome experience. So much to see and do. A destination worth returning to.” Feb 11, 2008 by
Lori from Maple Valley, WA
“Great place I highly recommend - watch out for hidden charges.” Feb 11, 2008 by
Heather from Grosse Ile, MI
“Great Hotel! Beautiful, with amazing water features and dolphins!” Feb 9, 2008 by
Betti from Polk City, IA
“Excellent four star property with much to do on property, yet centrally located to get to many other attractions, shopping and dining. The mile of artwork provides a soothing visual each time you walk the property. The pool areas are spread out so you don't feel like you are on top of other guests.” Feb 8, 2008 by
Frank from Westlake, OH
“Lovely setting; huge so lots of great facilities but takes time to get around; would be nicer if they heated the pools a bit; overall I would recommend to most people.” Feb 5, 2008 by
Cindy from Eugene, OR
“We loved the resort!” Feb 4, 2008 by
Chi from Chicago, IL
“Clean rooms. I don't mind walking-I live in a city, but to talk 20 minutes to get out of this hotel is ridiculous.” Jan 21, 2008 by
Stacy from Billings, MT
“This is a very beautiful hotel. Parking is very close and the view is beautiful from the Lagoon Towers. We'll be going back here.” Jan 21, 2008 by
Sharon from Placerville, CA
“Beautiful place but being on 62 acres, it took time to get anywhere. Rooms were comfy but not overly fancy. Didn't care for extra charges for everything extra and the restaurants were expensive. Paid 8.00 for a virgin lava flow that came in a plastic cup. Orientation meeting for visitors to Big Island is a "must". Best part of the stay!” Jan 16, 2008 by
Sean from Pahoa, HI
“Nice hotel if you can get a deal on the price. Restaurants are very appealing, but cost is prohibitive.” Jan 15, 2008 by
Terri from Conifer, CO
“Met up with some friends there and had a great time. There were lots for kids and families to do. Would definitely go again if we could get the room again at a similar price (regular hotel price would be too high).” Jan 15, 2008 by
Robin from Anchorage, AK
“This hotel was probably spectacular when it opened 20 years ago, but now needs a major facelift. It is so large that it was incredibly inconvenient to get around. The room was dark and gloomy. I basically never wanted to be anywhere on the property.” Jan 14, 2008 by
Simone from Mill Valley, CA
“The Hilton Waikoloa was definitely worth the stay. We have a 2.5 year old and he really liked riding the boats and trains. The pools are very well suited for children of all ages. The staff are extremely friendly with children. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.” Jan 11, 2008 by
Maureen from Las Vegas, NV
“We stayed at the Hilton after traveling on Oahu and the Big Island. It was a perfect ending to our vacation. I did not feel that it was difficult to get in and out of the resort as some reviews suggested. Also, reviews indicated that we may be overwhelmed by small children, but they only seemed to add to the delightful atmosphere. The hotel staff was very pleasant and helpful. I wish we could have stayed longer!” Jan 10, 2008 by
Erik from Signal Hill, CA
“Very nice and family friendly. Big rooms. Great vacation spot.” Jan 8, 2008 by
Lynn from Kailua, HI
“A wonderland for children and adults alike. Out of this world amenities - dolphins, waterslides, museum quality artwork, quality fitness center. Only downside is how long it takes to get from room to parking lot so be sure not to forget anything! Staff was helpful unlike what other reviews say.” Jan 3, 2008 by
Heather from Rockville, MD
“Hotel had a very friendly and accommodating staff. Was very clean and has a very good location. Got this room for a great price and had a great time. My kids were very happy. The restaurant took a very long time to serve the food but the atmosphere was very pleasant and wait staff was very courteous.” Dec 17, 2007 by
Lynn from Missoula, MT
“From check in, throughout the stay, the hotel staff was very unpleasant. We found the Dolphin Quest experience fantastic for the entire family. Outside of this, the rooms were only ordinary. The layout of the facility, although creative, is way too spread out. The transportation within the facility is inadequate, creating a requirement to walk great distances to get anywhere. Finally, the lack of beach access at the resort is a significant negative especially given you are in Hawaii which is known for its ocean experience.” Dec 15, 2007 by
Iris from Long Beach, CA
“This was a girls trip and we had a great time. The hotel is gorgeous and has everything on the grounds from its own bay, to great pools, art, a first class spa, and a dolphin pool. The hotel staff was nice, but needs to better train at first class customer service.” Dec 4, 2007 by
Delphine from Kearny, NJ
“Everything was excellent and the staff was helpful.” Dec 2, 2007 by
Christine from Hillsboro, OR
“This is a hotel to visit if you travel with your kids. If you are looking for romantic travel, I would not recommend this hotel.” Dec 1, 2007 by
Melinda from Cave Creek, AZ
“This resort is in a glorious setting, and the grounds and art work are fabulous. The use of a monorail and boat way is terrific and convenient. The rooms are huge, clean and the decor excellent. The staff is efficient, friendly and very professional. This is a huge complex, but very well run and is a delight at every bend.” Nov 29, 2007 by
Lauren from Huntington Beach, CA
“The Hilton is probably great for families although the food and drinks are extremely overpriced. The pools are nice but could use better service (only one pool had wait staff). Although the hotel is overlooking the ocean, there was no place to sit and have a sunset cocktail and no place to get a paper to have with morning coffee.” Nov 24, 2007 by
Teri from West Linn, OR
“Great for families this property has everything you could want. Expect to pay for it though. Most everything, including parking and in room coffee was an added expense. Paying the 25.00 resort fee is a good option for families.” Nov 24, 2007 by
Amy from Honaunau, HI
“We had a great time riding the tram and the boat and it is always fun to watch the dolphins. Something we do with our son when we are in the area and not guests. My five year old had fun playing in the pools and on the waterslides. The art collection is lovely. I was really disappointed in their selection of low quality Kona blend coffee; it didn't even smell like coffee when we opened the pack. When everything else is so excellent why not offer the guests some of the best coffee in the world grown right here on the Big Island.” Nov 14, 2007 by
Jasmine from Sebastopol, CA
“The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, (one of the managers) really put out effort for us. The dolphin quest experience was one in a lifetime. Snorkeling in the lagoon was heavenly and even though we saw eels, we felt safe. The boat and tram were both fun to ride and the artwork was absolutely amazing!” Nov 7, 2007 by
Debbie from Kamuela, HI
“Great place to take the kids. Beautiful grounds, rooms are comfortable.” Nov 3, 2007 by
Michael from Newport, RI
“Great hotel, good location well worth the price.” Oct 30, 2007 by
Jake from Birchwood, WI
“Avoid at all costs if you want a convenient place to stay. Just too beeping big! Not built for convenience. Takes minimum 40 minutes walk to get from one side of site to other. Parking not readily assessable. To get from my hotel room to building main floor one must walk 3min to elevator take it 2 floors then walk to stair case to take steps to ground floor. In order to get to parking it was a 15 min walk to valet and at least 30 min to self parking. For those with allergies all buildings have mold issues.” Oct 26, 2007 by
Mike from New York, NY
“Great place to stay.” Oct 23, 2007 by
Mike from New York, NY
“Great place to stay, amazing views of the ocean, golf course and pools. Restaurants are a little pricey, but overall resort is someplace to stay.” Oct 14, 2007 by
Cynthia from New York, NY
“Excellent - would stay again.” Oct 11, 2007 by
Celest from Waimanalo, HI
“It's a beautiful hotel. Talking about staying their twice a year with my husband and kids. Overall we enjoyed it. I think some, not all; workers could be more professional with the Aloha spirit. But for the most part, there were a lot of great workers also.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Oct 3, 2007 by

“Beautiful resort, but I wouldn't want to be here during the high season. It was perfect for what we wanted two nights before traveling to the other side of the island where we rented a house for the week. The rooms were spacious, clean, beautifully furnished. Nice pools and grounds. Especially nice cabañas and hammocks out near Buddha point. I was disappointed though with the desk clerk at the ocean towers desk who, when asked if our luggage could be picked up and stored for the day, immediately said "no" and then laughed about it. I know that he thought that he was being funny, but he wasn't.” Sep 20, 2007 by
Harold from Volcano, HI
“Overall, the Hilton Waikola is a great hotel, but for the amount of money we paid coffee should be complimentary. The shower faucet should not be broken. There were a few more things we just can't remember what it was. If we can only check in after 3:00pm, then we should be able to stay until 3:00 pm the next day. For the amount of money we paid we should be able to stay for 24 hrs at least.” Sep 10, 2007 by
Brent from Portland, OR
“The Hilton is a nice hotel in Waikoloa, but is showing its age in the common areas. The room was fine but the bed was missing a top sheet, which is unbelievable for a hotel that is as pretentious as this one.” Sep 5, 2007 by
Miles M. from Honolulu, HI
“Very good.” Feb 20, 2007 by
Ron from Portland Oregon
“Stayed Jan 13-16 poor experience. Main pool closed for extended renovation, no warning, no apologize, no partial refund. Poor service and overpriced. Hope they tell others the pool is closed when they book a room otherwise others will have the less than expected of this highly overrated hotel.” 1 of 2 people found this review helpful.Feb 12, 2007 by

“Very disappointed. Then found out the main pool area was closed do to renovation, there was no mention of this when we booked our dream trip to Hawaii with our 8 you. Daughter who was looking forward to a fun time playing in the main pool area this hotel is so famous for. We checked out 3 days earlier than planned because of disappointment in lack of services advertised. No partial refund, no apologize, no accommodation for obvious blunder on there part in not letting guests know about the pool being closed. The lagoon area was nice and the dolphins fun to view but other than that this place was lacking respect for incoming guests. Definitely do not go there if the main pool is under renovation, boring! 30-40 minutes drive to kina, no grocery stores for 12 miles so hold out your wallet for there $12 soup and $8+ drinks along with everything else overpriced when it comes to breakfast lunch and dinner. Note: we were told renovation to the pool was going to be extensive and from the looks of backhoes and jack hammers it was quite apparent this project will not be finished for quite sometime. We spent our final 3 nights at another resort just 10 minutes south of kina and it was a much better deal at almost half the price and wonderful ocean view. Never will we go back to the hilton Waikoloa that is for sure.” 3 of 3 people found this review helpful.Jan 2, 2007 by

“Although the resort is very large, my fiancé and I really enjoyed the intimacy of the restaurant and the amazing privacy on the beach at night. Check in and check out was quick and painless. I'm happy with my experience at this resort and would come back again.” 1 of 2 people found this review helpful.Dec 28, 2006 by

“We had an excellent stay at the Hilton. Kids just loved the slides, boat rides at the lagoon and going around the resort on tram and boat. Great place to stay with children.” 1 of 2 people found this review helpful.Dec 28, 2006 by

“A great place for families, with many activities. It is oceanfront with lots of opportunities for water related activities.” 1 of 2 people found this review helpful.Dec 10, 2006 by

“The Hilton Waikoloa village is a beautiful resort with very nice rooms, scenic walkways, attractive, large swimming pools, and very friendly staff. We were traveling with a 1 year old, and the tasteful decorations all over the facility were not only appealing to adults, but served as great entertainment for our little guy. The only negative comment I have is that the food within the resort is highly overpriced, and as the resort is so large, it takes a while to get out to any other food source. There are small fridges in the room. So, it is worthwhile to stock up. All in all, though, I would definitely recommend this resort.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Nov 18, 2006 by

“This is a gorgeous resort with many amenities. Food and activities are very pricey but that is what you would expect in a place like this. I think they could manage to do a bit less nickel and dimming in terms of all the extra charges. I was also a bit surprised at having sand fleas in my bathroom.” Nov 14, 2006 by
Miles from Mililani, HI
“Had a wonderful time at the Hilton. Trams and boats were very convenient, if you're in a rush or on a schedule then you're not on vacation. Overall the staff was great except for one waiter at the Kamuela provision co. Loved it so much that we accepted their offer of a return trip/timeshare presentation for next year.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Oct 25, 2006 by

“Excellent to stay with kids; very poor choice to stay with spouse. You basically need to use a tram to get to your room, restaurant, or pool, and when its crowded (breakfast, lunch, dinner) time, expect to spend approx 20+ minutes to get from your room to the lobby! Also, all outside bars close at 5pm! So, yes, you can drink all day, but if you'd like a nice drink before dinner outside, sorry; not available. Unbelievable! Very tacky. I personally wouldn't stay here again.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Oct 25, 2006 by

“Overall it was an OK hotel. I would rate it a 3.5 star hotel. It was too big for its own good.” Oct 23, 2006 by

“We had a great stay. The location was marvelous, there were lots of restaurants to choose from, although they were all overpriced. I have really no complaints.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Oct 4, 2006 by

“The hotel was beautiful. The grounds are immaculate and exactly what you think Hawaii should be. There is always something to do. The pool and lagoon are amazing. The food and dolphin experience are incredibly overpriced. The size of the hotel proved to be both good and bad. If you enjoy walking everywhere its great. If you don't enjoy walking make sure to stay in the Lagoon tower as that is where most of the activities are located. Valet service, check in and maid service were excellent. The service was not so great in any of the places we ate. The people would stand right in front of you and not acknowledge you were there. Getting any water, menus, refills etc took forever. These people took a laid back approach to the extreme. The only speed they had wasn't even slow it worse than slow. For the money I was paying for the food (which was beyond outrageous) they should have been more customer oriented. Overall I loved the hotel. Just eat somewhere else or stop by Wal-Mart for snacks.” 3 of 3 people found this review helpful.Hotel Representatives:
