Research User Reviews for The Great Wall Sheraton Hotel (1-1 of 1)

“I have been living and traveling in Asia for the last five years, and the Great Wall Sheraton is - by far - the biggest disappointment and worst value of any hotel that I have visited during that period. The hotel claims to be a five star - but I have stayed in better three stars in secondary and tertiary Chinese cities. The hallways are dirty: carpet is mussed, stained, and pulling away from the floor and walls. In my room, the air conditioning vents were peeling from the walls. But sub-standard rooms were only the beginning. The service was not only poor; it was contemptuous of me and my wife. As a Gold SPG member, I am entitled to an automatic room upgrade. But the front desk not only didn't give it to me, they claimed - when I asked for it - that I had been given it. Only later, when I complained about my broom closet room, then they gave it to me. This set the tone of service. Indeed, the Great Wall Sheraton might the only "five star" in the world where bellhops don't feel obliged to ask whether or not a guest would like their bags carried - or at least taken from the trunk of a taxi. That's fine - I can carry my own bags - but it'd be nice to have someone ask. For some reason, too, nobody who reviews this hotel mentions the "hostess" bar that is in the adjacent meeting hall. I must say, it sets a nice tone for families staying in the facility. I could go on and on. But let me finish by suggesting that you avoid this hotel's expensive massage services after 7 PM. That is, unless you like a massage in a massage room overlooking a hotel lobby with a loud Filipino rock band playing. This hotel is so bad - so comically bad - that it's a wonder that Sheraton hasn't disowned the management. Perhaps they figure that they can get away with it due to location. Unless you are desperate to stay at a Sheraton there is no reason to stay in this over-priced three star hotel. It is an abomination; by far, one of the worst values in Asia. Stay away.” Hotel Representatives:
