“For the price and star level I chose, I felt it was a really bad selection. I stayed at Place Louis Riel hotel, and their rooms are exquisite, they should not be a 3 star hotel, they should be 3.5 star+. Was very disappointed to see that instead of staying at the Place Louis Riel on the Sunday instead, I had to move to the Holiday Inn.” Aug 13, 2009 by
Edward from Keewatin,Canada
“We were not very pleased with this hotel. While in the rooms you could hear all kinds of noise from the hallways, doors opening & closing, street noises were easily heard in the room all night long.” Aug 4, 2009 by
Jeremy from Sacramento,CA
“Hotel is close to everything downtown. Parking is $10/day on top of the price you pay for the room. The room was decent, but not up to par with a Hampton Inn or Mariott. Definitely a 2-star hotel at best. Good high-speed internet service and the room was clean. Comfortable bed, too.” Jun 25, 2009 by
Jarret from Toronto,Canada
“It is located above the Winnipeg bus terminal, when you've finished paying your $9 parking fee for sketchy, unmonitored parking, you must walk past all sorts of interesting people in search of the locked hotel door. From this point, get in a retries elevator and travel to your floor. The floor itself has a nice smell of lingering smoke, and burnt carpet. The room itself again, had the same smell, only not quite as pungent. The bathroom had not been reno'd in some time, caulking was peeling from around the tub, the toilet seat fit didn't match the toilet and the rooms carpet had poorly been patched in numerous places. I have never checked under a mattress before for bugs sadly there is a first for everything.” Dec 16, 2008 by
Denis from Brampton,Canada
“A very relaxing stay, clean and comfotable. Not a luxury hotel but more than adaquate and they have a pool.” Nov 5, 2008 by

“When we arrived, check in was fast and easy. They offered valet parking which was important to me as I have a handicap. The manager was the only one who knew how to drive a standard so if he wasn’t around there was no one who could do it. This posed a problem for me as I have a handicap and the parkade is a fair distance away. The room itself is basic but was clean upon arrival and a good size. The location can't be beat. It’s close to everything downtown. We were there 2 nights and found the maid service to be somewhat slack. The toilet paper roll was not replaced when finished and not all towels were replaced on day 2. Overall the place is perfect you are looking for convenience but no frills attached.” Aug 13, 2008 by
David from Salina, KS
“With the patrol did not have any problems, staff was very helpful in directions.” Jul 17, 2008 by
Rob from Thunder Bay, ON CA
“As a experienced business traveler I have stayed in some very nice Holiday Inns and this one is only just adequate. It's locations what saved the day.” Jul 15, 2008 by
Amanda from Shilo, MB CA
“Our hotel experience was horrible, expired permits, noise and lack of customer relations! They put us in a loud room, we heard sirens all night and that woke up our baby, which in any case we got no sleep and she was cranky all day.” May 20, 2008 by
Jen from Edmonton, AB CA
“The adjoining restaurant which provided room service had horrible food and that food as also overpriced!” Jan 1, 2008 by
Kim from Beausejour, MB
“The rooms were not that clean, no towels at the pool area, staff. None on hand, paid for breakfast and did not receive any. Kitchen was closed and to top it off, we had no heat in our room. The location is awful. I would not suggest this hotel to anyone!” Oct 15, 2007 by

“I was very disappointed with service and will not use it again.” Sep 4, 2007 by
Ronald “Convenient location, good service and friendly staff.” Jul 23, 2007 by

“The hotel met my expectations but did not exceed them. I would say the hotel is closer to a 2.5 star than a 3.5. The hotel is linked to a bus stop, but it is in walking distance to a nice downtown mall. Overall a nice place to stay.” Apr 26, 2007 by

“Nothing fancy, but clean and comfortable.” Feb 21, 2007 by

“Hotel was clean on the surface but the air felt dusty. Hotel was nothing fancy but did the job.” Nov 14, 2006 by
Mark from Keewatin On
“If you stay in the hotel at night you feel safe, but you get the impression that you do not want to be out at night. The location next to the greyhound bus terminal seems to bring a different mix of people to watch. You can go to the terminal store without going outside for a snack; however I suggest not going alone. There is a restaurant in the terminal for the frugal travelers if desired. There is an exercise area along side of the small pool area, with a laundry area. I stayed three times in this hotel, the first two times were very enjoyable. However the third time the staff and management were now changed. This has proved to be a detriment to the hotel; the staff is not as friendly as the previous. I had a waitress who when I asked for a steak, she told me how I was going to get it cooked, and what I was going to get with it. Maybe I am wrong here but I think that I am supposed to ask her these things. If it wasn't for the cook to take it upon himself to come to our table after over hearing the conversation to apologize, we would have walked out. A word of advice when you check out makes sure that you get a total for you room and a copy. I checked my MasterCard bill a month later and found that they double charged me for my room. They charge the company and me for the room and all incidentals (local calls, parking). Oh and as a footnote, the last time I stayed, I found a razor blade on the top of the bed. I will not be going back!” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.May 4, 2006 by

“For the price I paid it was a very good deal. If you want a downtown location, it is hard to beat. While it is not prime time downtown, it still is a good downtown location, convenient to transportation and other events. Good shopping in the area as well as a few good restaurants.” Dec 22, 2005 by

“I am quite familiar with this city as I grew up there. Hotel was remodeled within last several years. Good location to catch public transit. There are some unsavory characters that can hang around the area as it is next to a Greyhound Bus Depot but no more than places like downtown San Francisco. In the winter this is not much of a problem due to the cold. Downtown shopping close by as well as many places to eat. I have stayed in many nicer hotels but would not hesitate to recommend this one to anyone. Only real negative to me was having to face a $9 nightly parking fee as hotel does not have own parking facility. Can actually still work around that though if you don't mind parking in neighborhood a few minutes from the entrance.” Dec 1, 2005 by

“Would recommend to anyone.” Nov 1, 2005 by
Stephanie from Neche, ND
“Overall, our stay was very pleasant. We had tickets to a show at the Imax downtown so it was very convenient, walking distance. The immediate area around the hotel though is very rough, would not go out alone at night. Kids eat free at the hotel restaurant and the portions are HUGE. The small pool area needs to be updated but the kids had fun regardless. The $9.00/day mandatory parking fee is an unexpected addition to the price. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.” Nov 1, 2005 by
Dave from Neche, ND
“Rooms were basic, but comfortable. Location was good, close to mall and IMAX. Kid friendly and kids eat free which is a big bonus.” Oct 18, 2005 by
Phyl from Oakbrook Terrace, IL
“Hotel is well situated in downtown Winnipeg. Staff is extremely courteous and helpful. Rooms are clean and comfortable. High speed internet actually works consistently, contrary to my inexperience in many hotels.” Oct 13, 2005 by
Allen from Chicago, IL
“A good convenient place to stay, clean and comfortable.” Sep 28, 2005 by
He from Ann Arbor, MI
“Totally, it is a comfortable and convenient hotel, if you do not care to pay parking.” Sep 14, 2005 by
Bob from Grand Forks, ND
“The hotel had easy access to downtown mall, shopping and attractions, but the fire trucks were actually very frequent. The parking is valet parking, but it was seemingly in the packinghouse above the greyhound bus-stop. Other parking options were open parking lots in the down-town area.” Sep 12, 2005 by
Preston from Litchfield, MN
“Very good location. Very clean and accommodating. Would stay there again for sure.” Sep 7, 2005 by
Steve from Devils Lake, ND
“Nice room...quiet hotel. Nice lobby, valet parking a plus....Pool and work out area below standard for a three star hotel.” Aug 24, 2005 by
Sandi from London, CA
“Location was excellend along with the facilities” Aug 22, 2005 by
Karen from Bemidji, MN
“The staff was very friendly, the room comfortable, but the pool area and location left a great deal to be desired. We were also without power for about 8 hours so there was no hot water until late in the day, (seems to happen often in the Winnipeg area) If we returned to Winnipeg we would stay in another location. This hotel does not even begin to compare with the other three star hotels.” Aug 5, 2005 by
Charlie
“Other than parking everything was 1st class.” Jul 27, 2005 by
Travis from Bottineau, ND
“I would never stay here again. Our car got broken into as well as 4 others. They even had security in the hotel parking lot.” Jul 7, 2005 by
Justin from Fargo, ND
“The hotel is clean and affordable. The pool is small, but nice and is located in the basement. I did not expect to have to pay $9 per night to park my car and valet parking at that. The restaurant has good breakfasts at reasonable prices and kids eat free if you are staying at the hotel, however after eating two evening meals in the restaurant, I decided that the savings were not worth the terrible food we received.” Jun 29, 2005 by
Tom from Fergus Falls, MN
“This is a very nice, clean, modern hotel with a great location. The icing on the cake was the free amenities such as valet parking and high-speed Internet access. This hotel is centrally located, within a 10-minute walk of even the furthest nightlife in the Little Italy/Corydon areas, and across the street from the Hudson's Bay Company, Winnipeg's largest department store. Other reviewers had negatively noted that the hotel was next to the bus station, but this was not noticeable for us.” Jun 17, 2005 by
Nick from Gloucester, MA
“Good Hotel, nice stay, beware of those add on fees.” May 31, 2005 by
Colin from Crookston, MN
“This hotel is very centrally located in downtown Winnipeg. Valet parking is a plus here since the garage is underground. The nearby legislative building and a huge park are beautifully lighted at night.” May 30, 2005 by
Mark from Baudette, MN
“Room was nice. Pool facilities were good. Location was bad... parking pathetic... Resented having to pay extra for parking.” May 25, 2005 by
Tracy from Gilbert, AZ

Ben from Grand Forks, ND
“It was a pleasure being in this hotel. Within 1 hour of our arrival we were phoned to see if everything was to our satisfaction. It was clean and had a swimming pool and exercise facilities. I would stay there again.” Feb 2, 2005 by
Joy from Grand Forks, ND
“Staff were friendly, hotel was nice. It was very difficult to find and to park. Directions that I received were not correct.” Jan 29, 2005 by
Susan from Estherville, IA
“Staff are very friendly & helpful. Valet parking is available for a fee, o/w parking is in a nearby parking garage access is either on street or thru bus depot. Quite a bit of panhandlers in area. Sep 2, 2004 by
George S. from Milbank, SD “I do not remember being told that I had to pay extra for parking. Thus, I was charged a $9.50 fee for one nights parking. The fees and charges, and the additional parking, cost about 25% more that the bare price of the lodging.”
