• The location and local surroundings of this hotes was beautiful.
• We felt like we were treated as second class.

“We felt like we were treated as second class citizens. Room type was not available and a room with a view was not available. The room was very nice, but we had a great view of an ally and our room looked directly into a meeting room across the ally from us. I guess we got what we paid for.”

• Great view and wonderful open windows.
• Treatment by cold, snobby staff, no bathtub, no Westin unwind, proms, inconvenient to transit system, bad concierge.

“I won't be back. After 2 weeks and 7 hotels, this was our worst experience, and that was sad because we were looking forward to it. very rude, cold, judgmental staff who did not make us feel welcome. Everywhere else we ere treated like royalty, not where we were expecting to be treated the best. Big disappointment.”

“Buffet for breakfast was missing items listed on the menu and some of the food had been out too long and therefor was sub par. Coffee was also old and I had grinds floating in my cup.”

• The service was outstanding. The rooms were very nice and recently remodeled.
• You have to pay for internet access.

“I loved this hotel so much. I can't wait to go back. It is centrally located to many major attractions and it's right on the water. Also, it has a Starbucks inside for your morning coffee.”

• Chaise lounge was filthy, but they changed it. Parking, internet charge.

“A great hotel in a wonderful place. Loved it, however our newly decorated room included a recycled chaise lounge which was filthy. They changed it. The beds, bathrooms and room was very nice. A great place to stay.”

• Location on the marina was perfect for outdoor exercise and exploration.
• Received double beds and not queen or king.

“This is a really nice hotel with all of the amenities, but they gave a husband and wife two double beds, and they charge you for everything, parking, computer, money exchange. But overall, one of the best places to stay in Vancouver.”

“My husband and I have stayed in this hotel on numerous occasions, location is "so beautiful" views of the mountains, ocean, Stanley Park, Marina, awesome. We keep coming back, we love it here, and Vancouver is a fabulous city to visit, skiing s excellent. Thanks for wonderful memories, we ill be back.”

“Great location with somewhat tired decor in the rooms, the Westin Bayshore is a three-star hotel with a four-star rating. Forget the inattentive staff since they already forgot you and concentrate on some of the best room views in the city. If you're looking for scenic views and don't mind worn out carpeting or inattentive staff, the Westin Bayshore is for you.”

• Concierge were awesome, location was perfect.
• Horrible construction going on, rooms too small, zero storage space in room for 2 people.

“I wanted a perfect getaway with my girlfriend. It was perfect but the hotel's condition was a complete disappointment. I was amazed that they let people stay on floors where major construction was going on. We could hear the hammers throughout the day and we were a couple floors up. Our first room had a broken bathroom door. We got a new room but the TV didn't work for two days. The storage for 2 people's luggage was minimal. The toilet if far too close to the shower. There is no privacy, it was a room for one person. It was extremely cramped, although nice furnishings. The food was far overpriced ($24 for a buffet breakfast?). We chose not to eat there at all. It did have nice gym facilities and was in a perfect location next to Stanley Park. Staff was great- from the front desk, to the doormen, to the concierge.”

• I thought that the hotel was absolutely wonderful!

• Kind of tuck away from the tourist attractions. Will need to drive to get to and from places.

• May be the best hotel location in Vancouver.
• Rooms in the old building are not four stars and are in need of rehabilitation.

“Everything but the old rooms still qualifies the Westin as a grand four star hotel. The rooms in the old building are scheduled to be redone before the 2010 winter Olympics. We did have an unfortunate event during our stay. Management had booked a noisy wedding party that kept the entire building awake until 12:15 a.m. On a Sunday. Management tried to make up for that fiasco by offering an array of free services to the guests that complained. I'd stay here again if I could get a tower room.”

• It was conveniently located at the entrance to Stanley park.
• Our room was neither a city nor harbor view room.

“I called to confirm our reservation and was told we would have a harbor view room. We checked into our room and had a view of a wall. I called down and was told that this was the city view, and that all the other rooms were taken. I was then told that I could pay for an upgrade the following day if I chose.”

• The location was perfect in terms of proximity to parks, trails and entertainment.
• The rooms did seem somewhat outdated. The bathroom was uncomfortably small and cramped.

“Overall the hotel is comfortable. The location of the Westin is prime for those wishing to be along the marina and/or parks and numerous walking/running trails. Very safe location. The rooms are comfortable with cushy down duvets. Access to an additional cot was not a problem and was in our room upon our request at check in. The only beef was that the bathroom was quite small and cramped but overall the hotel met all requirements.”

• Rooms are old, decor is outdated, beds are not luxury, needs a remodel.

“The Westin Bay shore is not a 4 star hotel, not anymore. It is in serious need of a facelift and redecorating. Wallpaper is peeling; decor in the rooms is straight out of 1980. Nice lobby spaces and pool, great location, but not a 4 star hotel.”

• The beds are fabulous, luxurious linens, high quality mattress, spectacular view, double head shower.
• Very busy concierge desk, we had to wait almost a half hour for help.

“I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a restful getaway. I felt totally spoiled, this hotel goes the extra mile for luxury and comfort and I would hope to stay at the Bay shore for my next visit to Vancouver”

• Staff was friendly and helpful and the location couldn't be beat for families.
• Minor dislike of bathroom due to old tub and toilet.

“Proximity to Stanley Park couldn't be beat. We walked (literally, no stroller) with young kids to the park and aquarium, playgrounds, etc. Similarly, short walk to restaurants and so many amenities. With parking being in short order when we went, the option to walk was worthwhile.”

• Small rooms for a resort. Not really a spa/resort.

“It does not match my idea of a spa/resort; it's more of a stopover for the cruise ships customers. Desk staff was courteous, but not particularly friendly. Parking was expensive and not especially easy, as the garage is in an adjacent building. There were some maintenance issues in the room, such as dirty grout in the tub and peeling wallpaper.”
