• The pool/Jacuzzi area was great!
• The entire hotel looked like it badly needed to be painted. The walls were scratched up everywhere.

“I would not rate this as a 4star hotel. The hotel walls were very shabby, scratched & in bad need of painting. The staff was great. The room was good sized but not the cleanest. What was called a "water view" room looked directly at a large building that obstructed the entire view of the water. The hotel also allows dogs and the first room we were given was right next to a room with an obnoxious yipping Chihuahua. We had to be reassigned to another room in order to be able to sleep.”

“The hotel was very nice, comfortable and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Probably the best hotel staff experience I¿ve ever had. The concierge was fantastic as well as the doorman. The wine tasting was as must. The bed was extremely comfortable, the view was awesome.”

• The best part was the decor.
• The worst part was the slow service of the valet.

“On the day that I stayed at the hotel there was a problem with the water. The shower constantly went form cold to hot (not very fun). Also, I made the mistake of not requesting my car from valet until I checked out 45 mines later I still did not have my car (finally after many requests we went and got it ourselves). Overall, I think this hotel is in a great location, the rooms are nice and the service is great. The best part of the hotel was the decor it¿s very modern and dog friendly.”

• Small elevators, small hallways, 1 ice machine for 21 floors!!! And it was broken.

“This hotel had an older feel to it - very small elevators and only 2 for 21 floors. 1 ice machine for 21 floors and it was broken. Strange location of the lobby and not attached to the tower we were in. Drove right by the building as could not see any sign for it and the street where it is supposed to be located. Not a 4 star hotel!”

• Run down, peeling paint on furniture, trashy hallways.

“This is a decent three star hotel, with nice kitchenettes and good location. Not of the same caliber as the Westin bay shore, Hyatt, delta suites, Marriott pinnacle, or other 4 star hotels. It is in desperate need of a makeover for the hallways in the north tower, carpets and wallpaper looked much worn. The furniture in my room looked like something that had been picked up on a curb - flaking varnish/paint etc. Not good.”

• Parking was $25 dollars a night and should be included.

“The location of pacific palisades, directly off Robeson street, was fabulous. The room left something to be desired, as the beds were only full-size. The room itself was very nice and clean. The staff was average upon check-in and other contact, with exception of the extremely helpful concierge.”

• Lots of things within easy walking distance.
• Charged us $30usd/night extra to get a king bed.

“This hotel works really hard to portray an image of being "in the now," but it's really kitschy. The hallways in the towers are unbelievably dark and claustrophobic; the scents in the lobbies are overpowering rather than relaxing; and the valet staff is surprisingly slow. The hotel is pet friendly, but the sound of a distressed dog woke us up more than once, and the noise of Saturday night on rob son street kept us awake most of the night. I wouldn't stay in this hotel again, especially for the price. It's not bad; it's just not worth the money and the snotty atmosphere.”

“Good location. You could tell the rooms had seen better days as the wallpaper was poorly patches in places. Bathroom amenities were sorely lacking, not even a shower cap offered. The water in the shower kept going back and forth from scalding hot to cold in seconds. Parking was expensive. Beds were very comfortable though.”

“This property used to be an old apartment complex and was renovated into a hotel. I was very disappointed. It is an old property with many examples of is age still showing despite renovations. ”

• The artwork, the design & spacious rooms.
• Not as neat and clean and updated as, I would expect for a 4 star.

“Conveniently located on bustling rob son street, a great hotel with spacious rooms, a wonderful spa and pool, and delightful artwork and design throughout the hotel, down to the soap. Yellow walls in hallways showed scratches and some of the materials (walls, bath fixtures) weren't 100% updated, not as modern and upgraded as I would have liked, but very pleasant overall. Excellent restaurant, with a 20% off coupon for hotel guests.”

• The hallways need a facelift. There was peeling paint and worn carpeting.

• Very small hallways - apparently older building that's been renovated.

“Great location, good size room, very funky decor (which was probably one of the best options for renovating what seemed like an old building.) Worked out wonderfully for us to be close to a good part of downtown and able to easily access and bike around Stanley Park; also just a short cab ride to the cruise ship terminal. Very noisy at night however with the club or bar outside our window down on the street level - lost some sleep with that going on. (We were there on a Friday night.)”

• Definitely not a 4 star hotel--it is really a poorly renovated apt bldg, not what I expect for 4 star quality, maybe 2 star.

“The Pacific Palisades hotel is located in the hip area of Robson in downtown Vancouver. It tries to be hip with interested, but unfortunately tacky decor, like glued on glass beads on the soap holders in the bathroom. It is evident that it was originally an apt building, renovated a bit to become slightly hotel-like. I think this would be a good 2 star choice, but definitely not a 4 star hotel.”

“This was at best a 2 star hotel. I feel cheated! I travel frequently and usually stay in 4 and 5 star hotels, so I have something to compare it to. Luggage had to be carried down several steps, no one even offered to open the door or asked if we needed assistance. The room was old (1960's vintage) and not clean or well maintained. There were apparently good rooms in the hotel, we just didn't get one! When I complained, all I got was," sorry".”

• Did not like paying $27/day parking and did not include continental breakfast.

• I can't think of anything as I was thoroughly disappointed.
• Carpets were dirty, reservations not honored.

“The week before we were to arrive at the hotel, I called the hotel to confirm my reservations and to make sure that I would have a room with 2 beds. It was confirmed. When I arrived, that was not the case. They said they only had a room with 1 bed, but they would bring up a roll away bed for me. There was no consideration or compensation given that they did not honor the reservation. The carpets in the hotel lobby's and in the room were dirty (stained). Not sure if it was from the pets that they allow or not. They did not seem to care about their guests. I found the staff at the front desk playing with a beach ball two different times while guests were present. They just continued to play. I would not consider this a 4 star hotel. Save yourself the disappointment and stay somewhere else.”

• The location on Robson Street in the center of so much activity was fun.
• The hotel needs refurbishing. It is pet friendly and we could tell an "untrained" pet had stayed in our room.

“We stayed in a one bedroom suite for three days post cruise. Will we enjoyed the location and staff, the hotel is in need of deep cleaning and renovation. You definitely don't want your bare feet on the carpet.”

“Great location, big rooms. The rooms are converted apartments. The pool is dated and so are the halls. Beds are very comfortable. Got a room on the 3rd floor in a 22 floor building. No view at all. Free star bucks coffee was nice.”

• Amazing location. Rooms are huge with kitchenettes.
• Parking is pricey, but close to standard for downtown

“Located right off Robson street. Has valet parking option only ($25). Free wine tasting every evening. Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice modern lobby. Nice pool. Small gym. Rooms with double beds are larger with a full kitchen, dining area, and deck. Rooms with king beds are slightly smaller with a kitchenette and small sitting area only. Some rooms have views.”

“This was a great choice of hotels for my husband and myself. We arrived early (after disembarking from a cruise) and the hotel staff kept our luggage for us, so we could explore the city until our room was prepared. The location of the hotel allows one to access most areas of Vancouver easily by foot. Our room was clean and very large, with a good view of the city skyline. The small kitchenette was great. The swimming pool and spa were both convenient and clean, as well. Overall, I would give this hotel a thumbs up.”

• One of the elevators was fairly small.

“The room had a balcony so we could enjoy the gorgeous view of the water, a kitchenette, 2 televisions, a King size bed with down pillows and a down comforter, a coffee maker with free Starbucks coffee, a hairdryer, and a minibar. The staff at the hotel were extremely friendly and helpful. They had a heated pool, a sauna and a work out room. At 5 pm every night they had a wine tasting mixer with local British Columbia wines to sample. In case you didn't get enough coffee in your room they had more free coffee (Starbucks) in the lobby with a choice of regular, decaf or tea. Oh, you wanted real creme in your coffee!! No problem- they have it right there. Oh I'm sorry, you prefer milk. Not a worry there it is in the pitcher next to the creme. Need a little something to carry you over to breakfast? Well just turn around mister cause on the counter by the smiling hotel staff is the best looking bowl of fruit you have ever seen. Oranges like that we can't even get in California. My wife was so pleased with our room, she just kept telling me what a great vacation "I" had planned. I'm quite the hero in her eyes.”

• Fantastic service! The hotel also has an extremely loyal following of regulars.
• The Robson street location made the room a bit loud.

“Every person affiliated with the hotel went out of his or her way to make my stay pleasant. The facilities and public spaces are also beautiful and high end. The rooms are spacious and have a fun, quirky decorating style. While some details in the room may not have the level of polish you would see at newer luxury hotels, the rooms were very comfortable. The location and service make this hotel a real gem.”

• There was a mix up with valet, that delayed me about 35 minutes.

“Great location, rooms were cheerful and bright, elevators were small, restaurant was very good, nice wine hour (complimentary), great shopping area right out front. Staff was very friendly and helpful, great concierge. Very pet friendly I would recommend it - not as plush as some of the other downtown 4 star hotels - but very good service.”

“The hotel staff were very friendly. The concierge holds a free wine tasting daily and also is very helpful. We were expecting a double bed room and got a queen suite instead. The location is halfway between Stanley Park and downtown, so it's perfect.”

• The staff was extremely friendly -- among the most friendly, I have encountered at a hotel.
• The room was not what I would consider of 4* quality.

“When we arrived, we were put in a smoking room with a nice view. We cannot tolerate smoke, so the bellman called housekeeping, who came up immediately with some spray. It seemed to work, but we woke up the next morning with sore throats and congestion. The room was also rather drab -- big stains on the carpet, and a cigarette burn on the nightstand. Because of the smoke, we requested to be moved, and the hotel staff moved us immediately. We appreciated that. The staff was superb -- extremely nice, always smiling and friendly. Our new room was much cleaner and no smoke, which made our stay much more pleasant. We had an even better view of the water and Robson street. The location was awesome. I was attending a conference about half a mile from the Pacific Palisades, and it was an easy and nice walk between hotels. While I would not consider the hotel rooms to be 4* quality, you could not beat the location and friendliness of the staff. Plus you have a sink, microwave and small fridge, which made it more comfortable than other possible hotel scenarios. We would definitely stay here again.”

• Do not recommend the restaurant. Will pay for good food but it was not good.

“Great location. Central to all things downtown. It was casual but nice. Rooms are very large. Enjoyed the complimentary wine tasting. Nice big pool and hot tub. Paid too much for parking. Next time I would park in a parkade. Definitely eat outside of the hotel.”

• Constantine the valet was great. All services were great.
• Pool and Jacuzzi were not working, so big disappointment!

“I thought the location was excellent and the service was terrific. However, we were there three days and the pool was broken or very cold, and Jacuzzi was not hot. For a 12 year old the pool stuff is key. Thanks though, we would return (but check on pool first).”

• The staff was exceptionally helpful.

“Well located at the north end of the Robson Street shopping district and within walking distance to all activities in the downtown core of Vancouver, the Pacific Palisades hotel provided a comfortable environment for a leisure travel stay. My room was spacious and included a small mini-kitchen area. Furnishings were unspectacular but very comfortable. What makes this hotel is the staff, from the maid staff to the concierge to the front desk folks, everyone is extremely helpful and accommodating, willing to do whatever they can to help or make your stay more pleasurable.”

• It is a converted apartment building and therefore it is obvious that the restrooms etc are seventies style.

“This hotel is located on Robson Street, which is home to many restaurants and cafes as well as shops. My room was a suite and one set of windows looked out on Robson Street and you could see the harbour from the other set. The interior design was inspired by South Beach, with lime, tangerine, and lemon colors. A fun place to stay.”

• very unique and I loved the colors they used in their design

“I would stay there again and that says alot. I travel for work all the time. Loved being able to see Yoga on the tube, the evening wine reception and the people were nice. Great beds and great views too. Walk right out onto Robson street or over to Denman or the waterfront.”
