• Swimming/pool/sauna 24hrs. Great location.
• They put me in a cornered room which is small and irregularly shaped. Not clean-hair in the bath tub.

“Great location and exercise facilities. I hated their internet charging policy - 16.95 per day (12pm to 12 pm). Even Hyatt offers a much for 14.95 per day (anytime to anytime). I also hated the hair I saw in the bathtub when I moved in.”

• The room we ended up in had a nice view, but we had to pay 50/not extra.
• Terrible staff (maids were good, desk, concierge, valet hopeless).

“Downtown Vancouver is not really the best location to stay in this beautiful, waterfront city. However, Coal Harbor is close to the marinas and to sea planes, and if you are on a high floor, the view from the rooms can be lovely. The staff of the hotel needs retraining and better management. The front desk appears not to communicate with bell and valet staff; bell and valet staff disappear at peak periods. Needs a serious manager.”

• I liked the fact that the hotel used brand name products that normally only carried at higher ends or boutiques.
• The housekeeping staff was a bit noisy in the morning (before 9 AM).

“The hotel was comfortable to sleep in and centrally located. The amenities were above average. The restaurant was wonderful (unique NW type dishes), some dishes were very healthful. The staff was very nice.”

• The location was excellent. Great view across inner harbor to Downtown and float planes landing in front of hotel.
• Many expensive condos are being built nearby, but some older industrial area still exists.

“This hotel was excellent value for the money. It was situated directly on the Victoria inner harbor and from the patio/walkway outside you could easily view float planes landing/taking off. By crossing a nearby bridge you could easily walk to Downtown restaurants the Empress in 10 minutes. Overall, a great experience!”

• Finishes were a little old for a 5 star hotel, i.e. chips in furniture, etc.

“Very comfortable, excellent location, tasteful, but perhaps just a tad dated in its design, appearance and finishes compared to other more contemporary hotels of the 4 star level I've stayed in.”

• I loved the 24 hour fitness center and pool area as well as the helpful staff.
• The room we got was smaller because the larger king size rooms were full.

“There were many things I loved about this hotel. The staff was incredibly helpful and responsive. The pool and fitness area were both 24 hours, so if we were exploring the city late we could take a dip in the hot tub to help our achy muscles. The bathroom in the hotel room had not only a tub, but also a glass shower. Even after we had checked out, the staff held our luggage for us so that we could explore the city for one more day.”

“Pros: The location was great. Walking distance to many attractions and very convenient to get around to Stanley park, bus tours, ferry tours and shopping areas. The room was clean and adequate for party of three (2 adults and one child). The restaurant at the hotel was nice and the gym facilities including the pool, steam and sauna were impressive. Cons: We were celebrating my wife's birthday and I called in advance to request a room on a higher floor if possible and they said it shouldn't be a problem. There was not even an acknowledgement of the request which I know was noted. They also said they would call when it would become available and we never received a call or a note. Internet access is fairly expensive $15! for a deluxe hotel that is unacceptable. Overall an average experience.”

“Hotel is in an excellent location, within walking distance to Stanley Park, Robson Street and Gas town. Staff was very friendly and even upgraded our room to a suite for free when they didn't have 2 bed room that we had requested. Down side parking cost extra $23. The hotel room and lobby could have been more spacious.”

• Ice machines were not at every level - parking was expensive.

“This was good for a short stay, if I was there longer than a weekend I don't think I would have liked it. After going to a concert that ended at 2 am, the staff was there and helpful to give tips on places that were open to eat at that time - the location was great for shopping and dining.”

• Parking was expensive.

“This was a great hotel. Wonderful location with a Starbucks around the corner, yay! They are also a pet friendly hotel and don't charge you a fortune for it. The smoke detector went off in my room (battery died) while I was at the aforementioned Starbucks in the morning and they were very concerned about my dog and wanted to make sure he wasn't scared to death, it was really nice. They had the smoke detector replaced within five minutes. Great service all around, super friendly staff from the valet, to bell staff to front desk to the gym folks. All happy smiling faces.”

“Great upscale hotel but for the life of me I cannot understand how the more upscale a hotel is the more they nickel and dime you for what I think should be included such as internet service which was available at $ 16.00 per day and parking at $23.00 per day. I expect to pay for parking in a downtown hotel but not a $10 to $12 surcharge above the going rate. Nevertheless, a great property and the staff sure know all about customer service.”

• 24 hour health club. Clean rooms/bathrooms.
• Double not queen beds. Parking $ was high.

“We enjoyed our stay and received excellent, courteous service. When we checked in (near midnight) the desk clerk was new, but someone was right there to help him. Great 24 hr health club with pool, sauna, steam room and spa. Current edition exercise equipment with individual monitors on each piece. We requested a cot and it was in the room when we arrived. Great stay.”

“The staff was great. The facility is fresh. Beds are comfy, the rooms are small, usual ability to hear everything out in the hall. Why don't hotels discover sound damping doors(?) especially upscale. It was ok value for the price.”

“A really wonderful hotel. Walking distance to the Harbour, Gastown, Chinatown and the Entertainment District. Rooms are lovely, fresh and clean. Staff and food service excellent. Breakfast was a cooked to order steal at $13. High floor (got corner room), king bed away from elevator. Lovely city view from the bed!”

• Room service was double billed, but fixed immediately after we noticed the error.

• The concierge desk was phenomenal. The other hotel staff were excellent as well.
• Parking is expensive at $23/night.

“The concierge desk was extremely helpful and accommodating. They went above and beyond to ensure we had a great visit to Vancouver. The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable and plush. Would definitely stay here again.”

“Excellent location, close to shopping and restaurants. Staff were generally very helpful. Ran into one grumpy front counter person, but that could be anywhere. I will stay here again. Parking in underground is high, but to be expected I guess, due to its location. Would have given a higher rating, except for the one staff member.”

• Everyone was helpful, hotel was spotless and were close to the water.
• Parking was an issue when we first arrived but sorted out later.

“We liked the hotel very much. It was very clean and well appointed. Certainly geared to business travellers with desk and computer chair in the room. We'd arranged with the hotel for a king-size bed and it was very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We didn't have the opportunity on this trip to eat in the hotel so can't comment on the food, however, it was Mother's Day weekend and they closed the dining room earlier than normal, so they could set up for the special Mother's Day brunch, which meant we had to find another place to eat breakfast. We choose to park our own car in their parking facility but unknowingly parked on an inconvenient floor that didn't have an elevator directly to the hotel lobby. Walking up several flights of stairs with baggage wasn't fun. We moved the car later when we found out better where to park.”

• The underground parking does not have a gate so anybody (thieves) can enter.

• Convenient location with nice views of both the city and surrounding natural beauty.
• Bicycle parking unavailable. It smelled too much like detergent / fabric softener in the entryways and corridors.

“A recommended hotel. Great location and service. Within walking distance of many of Vancouver's unique attractions. Several mass transit options exist in the area making a car unnecessary during your stay.”
