• Convenient location, very clean, friendly staff - what more could one want?
• Parking area was confusing - hard to find how to enter hotel at first. Helmcken isn't the nicest street.

“Good if you're looking for a 3-star hotel in downtown close to Yaletown and shopping. Very clean and attractive hotel with accommodating and friendly staff. You have to pay for parking, but it's very reasonable compared to other lots, and even though checkout is at noon, you can park there until 6 pm.”

• I did enjoy that the room was comfortable they offered a good selection of pillows.
• I wasn't pleased with the fact that I had to pay a pricey fee for parking even as a guest.

“This place is overall good for a quick night in Vancouver but its location is not great for restaurant selection within walking distance. Otherwise the staff is very friendly and we received quick service upon our arrival. Being minutes away from Stanley park and other attractions it is worth the stay and I would visit again.”

• The pool unattractive in location and size.

“The entire staff was very friendly and helpful; everyone from the front desk to the maids to the waiters at the restaurant. While the hotel was old, it was clean and comfortable.”

• It is in downtown and it would be convenient if your business is in downtown.
• It is very cramped, old and unclean.

“I wish the hotel has bit more space. The rooms does have plugs to plug-in in the iron. Does not have a refrigerator and are charged for water. When asked for one more bottle, the hotel staff said they will send it right way and did not get it after half hour. The street side parking is free during the night. The hotel staff conveniently forgot to mention it and charged $16 for parking.”

“This is a first class hotel within walking distance to several main districts of Vancouver. Hotel recently remodeled very upscale amenities. Free computer connection on rooms. Staff excellent, helpful and the hotel is spotless.”

• Staff worked hard, friendly, helpful.
• Security on Parking area sketchy, had locked up bicycle stolen off of car, watch out!

“Clean, older, small elevators and bathrooms, views of alley not that great, air freshener used in some areas of the hotel is yucky. Older, location is both good and bad depending on time of day, nothing special. Room was clean, OK size, bed comfortable with extra pillows. Old school TV, Free wireless, Parking fees $15 per night, Very nice staff. Lobby and reception areas are nice. Parking area not well supervised. Bad experience was a bike was stolen from us in the gated parking area by a local crack head at about 11pm one night. Staff admitted to seeing the guy but did not act or ask what he was doing in the locked parking area. Bikes were locked on the rack and carefully jammed in for additional safety by parking back wards against concrete wall, but needed to remove bikes to the room or perhaps in car but nothing is safe in that area. These guys carry tools and break locks etc. The theft tainted my view of the hotel.

• Staff were excellent
• Price was too high

“parking for vehicles over six feet was very difficult. Alley at back which our room over looked was unsightly with crackheads frequently present. Room was OK.Breakfast service and food quality were very good.”

“The rooms are outdated for the star hotel
and it had no view. In the middle of the night I was awoke by party since the party strip is around the corner. The area around this hotel is concerning. But you can walk a few blocks and there is great shopping and food. Bottom line, wouldn't stay there again, if I didn't have to. Good for the price though.”

• The staff is stellar and the location is super convenient!
• The room got a bit stuffy.

“This hotel has a convenient downtown location. You are within walking distance of some great areas: Yale town, Gas town, Davies Street, Robson. It is located at a bus stop for the 98B bus line that you can take to the airport. The room was quiet and it had the most comfortable bed I've slept on in a long while at a hotel. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Great value!”

“It was myself and a friend traveling together for a girls weekend and when we arrived at our room we found that there was no beds. The bed was a Murphy bed! That's right! While I may have to pay a little more at least I can say what kind of bed I wish and if I want a smoking or non smoking room.”

“Hotel has a great downtown location -- close to Stanley Park and some great restaurants and staff was exceptionally accommodating and helpful. There is a business center, which proved to be helpful for printing a boarding pass for my husband's return flight home (even though we have our own lap top and hotel provided free internet). Rooms were comfortable and offered a choice of soft or firm pillows, which was very nice. There is an extra charge for parking, but it is gated and directly adjacent to hotel - very convenient. We really enjoyed the little Shortbread cookies they left for us at check-in!”

• Beds were plush and we had choices of soft or hard pillows.
• My hairdryer in room was broken and the 4 people notified smiled but did nothing about it.

“No valet parking, but parking garage attached. Pleasant clerks at check-in. Room/bed were exceptionally clean and comfy. We had 2 rooms. Balcony facing street had a nice view, but balcony to ally was not attractive. I would stay again.”

• Great location within a short distance to Robson street, where everyone wants to be in Vancouver.
• On the 2nd floor you have to walk a mile up and down stairs to find your room.

“This hotel has a great location if you want to be close to downtown Vancouver. But I'll share my experience with you. Check in time said 3 pm so I planned my day around that. I show up at 3 pm to drop my bags and meet my friend downtown at 3:30. Well no, by 3 pm my room wasn't ready. I sat there until 3:45 pm by this time my friend was calling me asking where I was. I told the staff I was in a rush so instead of my room. I had a smoking room, with the worst layout ever. The worst room I've ever had in a hotel period. It's safe to say that destroyed the entire experience of my visit. I was very unhappy. I'll never go back there.”

• Easy access to downtown area. Nice restaurant and breakfast buffet.
• The swimming pool is not for kids. Very scary big drop-off into deep which is 90% of pool.

“The pool, which all kids look forward to, was not for kids. I had to watch my grandson to ensure he did not slide off into the deep. First hotel I have ever been to with such a small (90%) swimming area for kids.”

• The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was updated.
• The view from our window was a dirty alley, but it was a quiet area.

“We had a satisfactory stay, but did not wander around as there wasn't much close of interest. The sightseeing trolley stopped across the street, and taxis were convenient. The indoor pool looked nice, especially for children, but there wasn't a hot tub. The restaurant was family friendly. It was a moderately priced hotel in a great, vibrant, metropolitan city!”

• Limited bellhop, small elevators, outdated wallpaper & tile, unattractive AC cover.

“This was not the 3-star, I expected. No one offered to help unload our luggage from the taxi, but the bellhop did take it upstairs, once we got it into the lobby. At checkout, though, no bellhop showed up after 25 minutes. So we lugged it back down ourselves. The wallpaper in the room is installed poorly, outdated, and projects shabbiness. The AC/heater unit was bent and warped. I did like that the sink and mirror were separate from the toilet and shower, so I didn't have to blow dry my hair in a steam room. The location isn't terrible, but it's not that great either.”

“This hotel needs major upgrade in terms of appliances and in-room fixtures: all seems from the seventies, including old TV; also major negative is split shower and wash-sink; it's hard to be quite and dark for night' use. Will try to avoid this hotel in the future, unless major interior renovation takes place.”

• Noise +++ after 11pm, poor housekeeping.

“I found this a very unpleasant place to be at night - with noisy hotel guests and being woken by incorrectly directed phone calls. Housekeeping was sporadic from good to poor. Bed was comfortable with a choice of pillows.”
