• The ice.
• The internet was down and we needed it very badly. the staff didn't know when it would be back up and blamed it on telus.

“This hotel is not in a good location, When we drove into the parking lot it was filled with kids because there is a liquor store attached to the hotel.....the parking underground had a gate when you enter it from the main road...but, when you left the lot there was not gate so anyone could go down in there, so don't leave anything in your cars.”

• House keeping understaffed, room with items left from last guest.

“Hotel was a good value for price. Good location for downtown access and easy access to highway. Close to Galloping Goose trail for walking or biking. Housekeeping was not the best. House keeper did state they were understaffed at time. Hotel restaurant was pricey for family place, but others were close by.”

• The staff was very helpful and friendly. I appreciated the follow up phone call to confirm that I was satisfied with the room.
• The room was too warm and opening the sliding glass door to the pool area was noisy with people.

“The hotel was in the middle of re-staffing and under new management, so, the restaurant was just starting to accommodate guests. It had plenty of parking with an underground parking area as well. It had an excellent pub / sport's bar with many interactive (WiFi) sports games. The food at the pub was good, offering a variety of foods. The room was very comfortable. The view from the exercise room and swimming pool were nice as it overlooked parts of Victoria. It was quiet, two miles from downtown Victoria, and (to me) offered a great time to relax and write or pursue other artistic endeavors. There was a park, a few blocks West, along Gorge Road that followed the waterway for several miles. The river walk was very pleasing with grass, flowering plants and other Pacific Northwest trees. I wish that we could have stayed longer to enjoy it.”

• Very clean and nicely appointed. Had a non-smoking pub downstairs.
• Heat stayed on in room-but there was an AC unit we used.

“This Ramada is located right next to the hospital on route 1A. It is about 15 minutes from Downtown and convenient if you have your own transportation. Plenty of parking. The room was very nice-two queen beds, a large TV with lots of channels and a very nice bathroom. They have a restaurant and a pub (with good pub grub).”

• The service is horrible. No hot water in the morning for showers and the hair dryer was burnt out, letting a horrible scent in the room.
• The front desk person was rude and the service was horrible. No hot water and he couldnt explain why, but he made excuses.

I was staying only one night so I wasnt asking for any reimbursement or anything, but maybe an apology, but all I received was excuses. Its not the entire hotel having this problem but just a few rooms. The gentlemen behind me had the same problem, for two days. No apology from the front desk person. Bottom line, poor service.”

• Clean, comfort and friendly staff. Hotel is safe and easy to get there by bus number 11.
• Nothing.

“The hotel was small but clean. The location is a little bit far from Downtown Victoria. You can use bus number 11 to get to hotel. The area was safe. The hotel staffs are friendly. We enjoy our stay. If the travelers don't mind to catch a bus then I think this is a good choice. Clean, comfortable and inexpensive.”

“Overall it was good for the price and location. But the room I stayed in didn't have any air-conditioning so we had to leave the window open, but we could hear all the night traffic and fire trucks and police cars. So for what it was worth maybe cheaper.”

“I really enjoyed this hotel. The staff was friendly and I meet some nice folks in the lobby. While out of the main area of town the buses stops in front of the hotel frequently. For convenience I purchased a bus pass and found that I saw much more of Victoria than I would have if I were downtown. The staff was great with suggestions and directions.”

“Friendly staff, quiet location, was a Days Inn until May 2007 and is being painted in July 2007. In the first room we were given we and the staff both could not get the A/C to work and we found a pair of ladies shoes and receipts from May in the first room (our stay was in July). Hotel staff was apologetic and gave us another room without problems.”

“It was run-down (damaged ceiling, peeling wallpaper, worn out mattress) and depressing to stay there. It was more expensive than staying at a very nice 3 star hotel in Vancouver. ”

• Rooms and amenities quite adequate for 2 star.
• Not convenient to downtown center.

“If you are planning to enjoy the downtown historic area, this is not the hotel to stay in. On the very outskirts of the City, you need to take a bus, unless you have a car. Also there is no air conditioning, so if it is summer, this hotel is not a good choice.”

• The room was very nice with a coach, bed, nice furniture and a refrigerator.
• Nothing comes to mind.

• Very accommodating in giving us a room with two beds.
• No air conditioning, although they say they will be installing a/c in near future.

“Okay hotel. They call themselves 3.5 star. 2 is about right. Lot's of on site amenities, pub/restaurant, breakfast room, beer and wine store, pool, wireless Internet. 5 minute drive to downtown (parking downtown is a bit of a pain although not terribly expensive compared to most cities). 2 kilometer walk to inner harbor is doable. Rooms were clean and I definitely like the fitted sheets on the bed.”

• I do not like to stay in hotels in the summer with NO air conditioning.

“The hotel is dated and wearing down. Work needs to be done, particularly in hallways. If you had a car you were all right. Without a car you might be in trouble. No restaurants of any worth were within walking distance of the hotel.”

• The room was well appointed and clean. I liked the fact that it had a refrigerator and coffee maker. The staff was excellent.
• I was not particularly charmed by the location, and a coat of paint would help the outside the appearance.

“I was only there one night, but I would give high marks to this hotel for its service and cleanliness. Once again, I found the location to be a little off putting since once I am in a hotel I do not want to be dependent on the car for exploring around. ”

“Days Inn Gorge Rd is NOT a downtown motel. It has no restaurant facilities for guests. I do not believe this hotel should be listed as Victoria downtown location. It is a $12 cab ride to the city center (bus station, dock, etc).”

• The staff was friendly and helpful.
• There was no air conditioning in the rooms.

“We had a pleasant stay but was a little uncomfortable for lack of air conditioning, because of humidity. I had to request a second table fan from the front desk. Apart from this the overall experience was very good. I would suggest that if air-conditioner is not in the rooms it should be specifically mentioned since the expectation is that every room would have an air-conditioner similar to every room would have running hot water.”

• It had a restaurant adjacent to it
• It wasn't located downtown like it advertised. We had to take a bus to and from the hotel and it was always a 30 minute wait.

“The hotel itself is ok, but it's not really downtown. You have to take a bus and it's about a 30 minute wait each way. It's not convenient for changing clothes for dinner or going to tea at the Empress! It should not be included with the downtown hotels as that's very misleading.”

“This hotel is totally ghetto from the outside. There is a liquor store attached!! to it. Inside, it is alright but I expect hotels to have air conditioning. All they had was oscillating fans. It is a short drive from downtown. You need a car to get to any attractions.”

“The Days Inn Victoria Waterway was horribly disappointing. The facilities were dilapidated and the staff was undertrained and discourteous. Our room was directly over "Fat Tuesdays", a neighborhood bar with karaoke happy hour starting at 4:00 pm and ending at 7:00. The music came straight through the floor and made for an unpleasant 3 hours. Our room also looked out onto the parking lot which was also the parking lot for the liquor store next to the hotel, patrons would pull up with their stereos blasting and peel out of the parking lot into the street. In addition, our room did not have a/c. When I tried to approach the staff with my complaints, I was told by three very young women that they could not do anything to help me, it was their first day. When I asked to speak with the manager, they "called" him and I stood in the lobby for 15 minutes and he never showed up. The hotel rate for this facility was outrageous, I can't believe I spent a dime to stay at such a horrible hotel. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.”

“This is a very clean, very friendly hotel. The room was large and comfortable, though it looked out over the parking lot. There was a morning newspaper at the door, and free taxi service to the Gray Line tour to Butchart Gardens. The breakfast was very good, though the service was hectic, as there was only a single server. The location was a little far from downtown.”
