• Convenient location, swimming pool, spacious, great welcome cookie.
• Extra pay for parking, extra pay for breakfast, room entrance light did not work, bathroom fan did not work, room very small.

“The hotel is an older grand building and must have been very nice some time ago. It sill is quite nice but is starting to show it's age. Staff was helpful and friendly in person. On the phone when I was trying to confirm that I would need a non-smoking room I was not able to get any reassurances even after I mentioned that I was being accompanied by a minor. In the end I did I get a non-smoking room and all is well.”

“Over all the hotel looks old and they try to give service but it looks the ownership dont like to spend the money it is big hotel and if they spend the money it could get to be 4.5 star.”

• Hallways dirty, unkept and smelly.

“We were assigned room and after an 2 hours in room we started to have allergic reactions. We made our way back to the front desk. We received an apology and a new room. Little or no concern about the severe reactions we were having. $10 to park is steep for this area.”

• Big swimming pool with sauna and waterslides.
• Pool in same hall as meeting rooms, business people around in suits while I was swimming.

“Overall, a great experience at a very nice hotel for price. However it was geared more towards business people so it felt awkward at times in leisure clothes and swim suit while others were around in business meetings and suits. However that would be the only thing I could complain about.”

• I liked how helpful the staff was in terms of directions.
• The bed in the room was off center to the television.

“This hotel was very friendly and accommodating. It was very clean and the staff was knowledgeable. It was far from downtown but it was comfortable, had a very nice view, a great fitness center and pool and lots of restaurants in the area.”

• The hotel was very clean and inviting. Good location.
• Elevators were slow.

“The staff was very polite, efficient and accommodating. The surroundings are very clean and pleasing. Many families were enjoying the pool and waterslide. The area near the hotel provides a number of good restaurants. It is easy to find from highway 401, 427 or 27.”

• Big parking lot near airport. Thought that was only downtown!

“Decent location but would have rather stayed in north central Toronto. Adequate room size but did not know specifics until my arrival. Nice hotel and we did enjoy the use of the pool and whirlpool.”

• Overall cleanliness and amenities were very good. Nice quiet rooms.
• It took 20 minutes to get through to the telephone number given to arrange a shuttle pickup at the airport.

“Overall experience at this hotel was fairly good. I have stayed at this particular location several times now. The biggest disappointment by far is the staff. They are among the most disinterested staff I have ever encountered while traveling. Quite often the front desk staff is not even present at the desk, but sitting in a staff office behind the front desk area. Having stayed here several times, I now know where to go looking for them, but during my first stay I waited over 10 minutes to be checked in with no staff present at the desk. The telephone number for the airport shuttle is also very inconvenient. On average, I would say it takes anywhere between 10 and 30 minutes to get through on that line.”

• Location is close to the airport, major highways to Toronto downtown. Room has two queen beds. Big swimming pool with two water slides.
• Parking lot looks cheap and unsafe. Drive way to and from hotel entrance are traffic hazard. Be careful driving.

“For a business person wanting a place to sleep before catching a plane the next day, the room was adequate and clean. The bathroom was very small with just about no vanity space. It had only a small stall shower, no bathtub.”

“Everything was great except the problems we kept experiencing with our key cards. It was very inconvenient to keep going to the front desk. Also I didn't like the fact that the only mirror in the place was in the bathroom. If someone was in the shower or using the facility then you couldn't get ready. No fridge or microwave.”

• Very clean. Beautiful marble floors freshly polished. Many restaurants.
• The casual cafe was the only one I ate at. Food was very mediocre and pricey.

• Location, comfort, gym, free reliable internet, very quiet for an airport hotel.
• Bathroom plumbing was leaky, television had poor reception and very basic channel package.

“A solid 3 star hotel, all you need or expect for an airport location, although there are certainly better ones. The rooms are comfortable, though not large, and soundproofing is exceptional. Internet is free. Television reception was poor, as was channel availability. Restaurant bar had very basic food selection, no drinkable wine, and not surprisingly closed early because of lack of business midway through a playoff game. Many good restaurants nearby.”

• I enjoyed the comfort of the bed and the size of the bathroom.
• There was a fouled odor when I first entered the room, like stale air.

“For the price the room was great! The staff was friendly and there was ample parking with a fair parking rate. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was very clean and well maintained. My only complaint would be the stale air smell that the room had upon first entering; I think this seems to be a standard concern with this hotel. They may need to have the circulation of air in rooms upgraded. I would certainly stay here again.”

• Nickel and dimmed you once there - i.e. parking, no free local calls, etc.

“The hotel was beautiful. The bed was the most comfortable we've ever had in a hotel. Parking was $10 a night, and it wasn't explained how to use the key card in the lot. The TV remote was confusing and the channel listings didn't match the actual numbers. The pool was nice and had twin water slides, however they were closed. We didn't discover until our time in the pool was almost done that you had to ask the life guards on duty to open them for you. Four restaurants on site, but none were family friendly or family priced. No free breakfast.”

• Fire alarm went off shortly after checking into the room.

“The Doubletree hotel was a great place to stay. We stayed overnight and went to Markham for a concert it was a short distance to both Markham and Downtown Toronto. A great location! The room was much larger than most we've stayed in, and the bathroom and amenities were great. We took a trip to the pool/hot tub, and those facilities were really wonderful as well. Though we didn't have an opportunity to visit the restaurants, there was a great selection, and the menus looked good. The staff was also very pleasant sent up non feather pillows very quickly upon our request, and were pleasant at check in. The only issues we encountered were a bit of noise during housekeeping time (loud carts!) And the fire alarm going off just after we checked in and forcing us to evacuate down to the first floor! By the time we got down there, it had stopped and they sent us back to our rooms must have been a false alarm. Not a huge inconvenience at all, just a surprise! Overall, our stay and the Doubletree facilities were even better than we had expected, especially for the very low price! We would recommend the Doubletree hotel highly.”

“The furniture and carpet seemed a little dated, but the room was comfortable nevertheless. The only thing that mildly irritated me was that the hotel had king size beds available, but wanted to charge a premium. Perhaps the rooms with the king size beds had been renovated with newer furniture and newer carpet, I don't know.”

• The staff was very friendly, accommodating and the amenities were well thought out meeting our needs well.
• Room service ended at midnight and we were looking for something yummy. Oh well!

“From the warm cookies at check in to the sink-into-it beds and luxurious linens, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. User-friendly hours for the pool, hot tub, and water slide helped us relax and unwind when we were able. Thank you for making our get-away such a pleasure!”

• Shabby room.

“The hotel lobby was impressive, but the room, while admittedly quiet, was much less impressive. It was small, the carpet was lumpy and stained, and the pay per view movie channel had so much interference that the movie was hard to watch (regular free channels were fine). Also, the staff apparently took the free newspaper away before it could be retrieved. It was a two star room, at best.”

• Inconsistent staff responses (not enough staff?).

“Slow response from hotel front desk. Sent maintenance first even though I had requested room change, and then still had to change. Slow to get room changed after this. (Obviously needed room change but had to wait over an hour) this was late very disappointing. Also dirty cup in room. This one was ok but not nearly as good as most stays.”

• Clean, comfortable, modern and convenient. The warm cookies are a great way to welcome customers to the hotel!
• My last room was located very close to the ice machine. At times it was annoying.
