  • Central location.
  • Rooms are not at 4 star levels but the rest of the hotel certainly is.

  • Nice rooms good location excellent service free wifi.
  • Parking is expensive.

“The metropolitan hotel is a great value and is located near can tower and a public ice skating rink. Every sight is within walking distance except maybe casa loam and science centre. Free internet in business centre or free wifi in the lobby. Friendly and helpful staff. Near St. Patrick subway station for easy access to entire city. Room service always reset our room even if we had a late start (left room after 12pm and still came back to a cleaned room).”

  • Fitness center was small and lacking in equipment.

“Everything was good - staff was friendly and helpful, rooms were comfortable. My only annoyances were that there was no vending machine in the hotel and the login page for the web access never mentioned any prices. I was surprised to be charged $40 for web access when I checked out.”

  • The service was very quick and friendly.
  • The rooms were old, there was only a dial up connection and it was nowhere near a 4 star rating.

“I would not want to stay in this hotel again. The rooms were just not up to the 4-star standard that I am used to. They were old and needed to be updated and there was no high speed connection in my room.”

  • It was clean and everything worked. The staff was courteous.
  • There was no internet access in my room. When asked why they said because I had rented and therefore a lesser quality room.

“The Metropolitan Hotel is a clean and safe hotel that has a very courteous staff. The location is in a side street that is quite a ways from the main business center of the city. They do not provide internet access in all rooms which is a basic staple for business travelers and a disappointment. They apparently provide a less class of service which is the excuse they gave for the lack of connectivity. I rate it a 3.5 of 5.0 for a business traveler.”

“Not a bad hotel, but it ranks far below other 4-star priceline hotels in Toronto. The Hilton, Sheraton, Inter-Continental were much better. This hotel really should be reclassified as a 3-star.”

  • Price, and that's all.
  • No Internet in my room. Is this the Third World?

“Overpriced (bar and restaurant) with indifferent service. And there is no Internet access in my room. I was told that I needed to have a different class of room before they'd even offer for- pay Internet into it. ? I will never stay here again unless I have an iron- clad guarantee that I can get on the net to work when I choose, not if the hotel deems me sufficiently worthy to gain said access.”

  • Great staff, concierge and valet were so friendly.
  • No wireless internet available.

“Great for leisure travelers, probably not so great for business if you need internet connection. Good for kids since they have a nice pool, however it is expensive to eat at the restaurants and they are not to kid friendly (meal).”

  • The location is not convenient, the rooms are VERY small.

“We got a very good rate for this hotel, but nonetheless, it was expensive. This is due to the less-than-prime location- we wound up taking cabs everywhere.”

  • Good sized rooms.
  • A '4 star' hotel should have wireless internet access and a better room service menu.

“I enjoyed the ambiance of the Metropolitan hotel. My room was spacious, well decorated and clean. However, the hotel does not in my opinion live up to it's 4 star designation. Wireless internet access (it is 2006 even in Canada right?) is not available throughout the hotel. Paid (paid?) dial up is all that is available in most rooms. The room service menu is quite limited and has so-so hours for delivery. If you are a night-owl though, forget it. While I didn't fear for my life the surroundings of the hotel are a little ominous; dark high rise apartments, convenience stores and a parking lot. ”

“This is a nice hotel in a great location. The room was a little small for a 4 star hotel, and the carpet could be cleaner. The front desk was understaffed, and it took longer than it should to check in/out. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. I would be happy to stay in this hotel again.”

  • Old furniture, poor AC, pay for use internet, internet not in every room.

“The hotel is supposed to be a 4 star but my room felt like a 2.5 star. The air conditioning wasn't working, there was no internet access in the first room they put me in, and there was a charge for the internet in the end. the room they gave me was below my expectations.”

  • Upgraded to a suite, really nice after parking my car in the horrible lot.
  • The parking was horrible. I had the hardest time parking, not impressed.

  • The room was very small and the parking garage was very tiny.

“I didn't like how the hotel charged you $5.00 facilities fee when didn't even use the facilities (gym/pool). Also there was no parking in their parking garage when we arrived. No attendant helped us when we parked our car in front of the hotel take our luggage out. The parking garage was an accident waiting to happen. It was very small.”

  • No newspaper delivered in the morning. You have to go to the lobby to pick it up.

  • Rooms not quite what we thought they would be!

“Our stay was great. We really enjoyed it. The hotel is very close to downtown T.O.'s major attractions. It was kind of deceiving because we thought it was closer but for the most part, it was ok and didn't take very long to get where you wanted to go. Very close to Eaton's Centre, which was awesome!! Next time we might try to go closer the Rogers Centre (Skye Dome), Much Music etc. Just because it would be within walking distance. Overall our stay at the met was great. We had so much fun.”

  • The room we initially got wasn't spectacular, but after it was upgraded, it was nice!

  • The front desk staff were very customer service oriented.
  • The hotel's oversells the beds. It said linen duvets but in reality the beds were covered by top sheets.

“This hotel provides desirable amenities at a value, D toiletries, iron, ironing board, plenty of wooden hangers, minibar, internet, coffeepot and a clock radio with a CD play all new and in working condition. It also is located close to the Eaton Centre, other shopping, China Town and a subway stop that can take you most places you want to go. The rooms were newly redecorated, but the carpet was a little worn. A giant bath towel sheet and rubber bathtub mat were provided the second day, but not the first. We were disappointed by the beds because we were looking forward to the advertised fluff, but we all slept well. Bathroom counter space is adequate, but not tremendous. Hallways could be lit better, but I always felt safe. Our stay was a good one.”

  • Ridiculously small rooms, tiny closet space, very low popcorn textured ceiling, bad elevator service

“This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at in Toronto.

Way overpriced for what they deliver. Located in awful neighborhood.”
