• Fair location, close to the casino.
• I was victimized in a violent crime.

“This hotel was overrun by deviants. I was beaten in the hallway then held hostage in my room by a gang member for 20 minutes. And the hotel was only able to refund me the peripheral costs incurred (parking, extra person).”

• I liked the price of the room.
• I did not like how uncomfortable the room was.

“First of all, this cannot be a three star hotel. The rooms were barely comfortable, the beds even less so, and the walls are so thin between rooms we could hear everything from a whisper. Furthermore, someone was smoking in a non smoking room and it wafted through the vents and ended up in our room, which was disgusting. The pool area was atrocious, and the front desk wouldn't even send up two wine glasses when we asked, we had to go get them ourselves. I would never stay here again.”

“The hotel was pretty basic but clean and next to a subway station. It did have an indoor pool but the fitness room was very limited. For a low-cost in-and-out overnight stay it was fine, but for a vacation with more time in the room & using the hotel facilities, it wouldn't be my choice.”

• The hotel was clean, had helpful staff, and was very conveniently located.
• The hotel was a bit shabby for a 3-star.

“The hotel was well located (right by the highway, within walking distance of everywhere we wanted to go) and clean. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The toilet was not working properly when we arrived in the room (no water pressure, so wouldn't flush) but they fixed it within 20 minutes of us letting them know. We ordered room service for breakfast and the food was decent, but they left the ham out of my partner's Western omelet. When I called to complain they took it off the bill no questions asked. The pool and whirlpool were really small and kind of ghetto, but it was still nice to have it there. Overall the hotel was great considering the insanely low price we paid, and we had a good stay. It's not exactly luxury but it wasn't bad, either.”

• The lobby was quit lovely.
• Stains on carpet, fans extremely noisy.

“The carpets in the halls as well as in the room were stained, everything made so much noise, and the maids are very persistent about getting your room done. However, the bed was comfortable, the shower was okay, and there was a Tim Hortons straight across the street which made up for a lot!”

• Rooms were nice, not luxurious as Hyatt regency also a 3 star.

• It was located in Chinese area, and no regular restaurant close by, and no parking and breakfast was included.

“We didnt know the parking wasnt included, till we reached there, other than the room, nothing else was included, when we checked in the reception till the check out was ok, The worst thing was the location, Nothing other than Chinatown was close by but the room was ok.”

“This is a wonderful hotel. Great room. Great location. Steps away from old Montreal. Yet also very close to downtown and ST. Catherine's street. A metro right across the street. Right next to great shopping in china town. The lobby is just beautiful with a small like and Chinese like bridges over it. Overall, great experience.”

• The location (which is in china town) is only a couple blocks away from shopping & restaurants. It is also very close to the metro station.
• The beds were listed as queen size but couldn't have been more than double & were far too firm.

“Uncomfortable small beds, very dated decor in rooms, small dark shower, dingy small pool & hot (more like warm) tub with only one jet working, room that was 'non-smoking' smelt heavily of smoke, $17 a day for parking, lots of street noise at night even with the windows closed, definitely not a 3 star hotel! Staff were friendly but I will never stay in this hotel again!”

“We were very pleased. This hotel was walking distance to many local sites. We also loved to be able to relax in the pool after a hectic day of sightseeing and walking. It is not elegant, but it met our needs.”

• The location, as it was in between old Montréal & new Montréal.
• They charged me an extra $161 for no reason, without even telling me.

“It was a great hotel; the location was fabulous, especially if you plan on spending a lot of time in old Montréal, or by the water. They initially gave us a smoking room with a queen bed, and after the first night, we were able to upgrade to a non-smoking room (which had a king bed) which was literally twice the size, so that was great. Being so close to china town, the neighborhood was slightly sketchy, but if you're not planning to spend much time in the hotel, it's a non-issue. People were generally helpful, but my experience in dealing with my double charge has not been very pleasant.”

“The hotel is about a 5 minute walk to old Montréal and close to drive to all other shopping and restaurants on St. Catherines and St denies. The hotel has a parking lot but rather expensive. The day we left they gave us printed driving instructions to the airport and were very easy to get to the highway. Approx. 20 minutes (non rush hour).”

“It's located in Chinatown but close to some big malls, shopping and restaurants. Public areas were very nice but our room was just okay. My sister in law, on the other hand, really liked her large room so I guess it varies. The hot breakfast buffet food was disappointing - the crepes were hard!”

• The staff was most friendly and accommodating to us USA, English-speaking tourists. The lobby with the fish pond and open restaurant was pleasant.
• The internet was completely unreliable in our room.

“Immediately after booking this hotel I read other's reviews and my heart sank at the strong negative comments. On the contrary, my stay at this hotel was completely positive other than the internet's unreliability. The restroom is spacious, beds soft, lobby lovely, restaurant brunch delicious, and the staff friendly and helpful. I appreciated the off street, secure parking right in the hotel. I would stay here again.”

“Fantastic location in the heart of Chinatown close to the pedestrian street. Also very close to the Auto route Marie (highway). Asked for a handicapped washroom and was given a regular room facing the back of the hotel, the washroom had a high sided tub with a stool in it and regular height toilet. Also there was a musty smell in the room, and the washroom smelled like urine.”

• Walls are thin, you can hear people talking next room, quite annoying if its late in the evening.

“Convenient location, room is spacious and clean. We didn't have the negative experiences other people commented on the web. We were able to get a double bed room when we got to the hotel (they couldn't guarantee double bed when we called beforehand), probably because we went there during weekdays so they may have room to spare.”

• The pond with fish was entertaining for my son and we liked to proximity to everything central.
• The cleanliness of the pool and hot tub was questionable. The bar fridge was missing and a moldy stain, 24" dia, was left exposed.

“Proximity to St. Laurent/St. Denis, Vex Montreal and Westmont was extremely convenient. The cleanliness was a bit disappointing for the public facilities and the room. I found the overall lighting too dark. Overall, for the price we paid it was a great.”

• This is a Chinese Hotel.
• TV in my room does not work.

“Surprised that I found it was a Chinese taste hotel, not regular Holiday Inn. Location is good to access to Main sightseeing area. But I have impression that inside is a little shabby. Hotel room is business like and clean, but TV in my room does not work. When checking out, I made complaints, but the man in the reception is very dry and rude.”

• Excellent location, easy to walk to area sites. Nice Chinese design.
• Parking garage was usable, but under construction.

“The pagoda on top of the hotel made it easy to spot in the busy downtown area. The feng shui design features made it very interesting - perfect for the edge of Chinatown. Very clean and spacious room with long bathroom counter. I highly recommend this hotel.”

“Very poor hotel. More similar to Quality Inn or Days Inn. Holiday Inns Express I have stayed in was better than this. I think this hotel used to be a Holiday Inn Express and they just renamed it as select to charge more. No renovations have been done; rooms are outdated, not very clean! Had issues with staff with overfilling upon my exit. Finally cleared up after an hour wait. Very negative experience overall.”

“The room was too small. We called the hotel to request a double bed in each room and the hotel indicated that if there are enough rooms they will provide us. Upon arrival the hotel notified us that there were several double bed rooms left but they would not accommodate our request for some odd reason.”
