• Very close to the underground shopping, Bell Center.
• The stairs in the hallways made moving luggage very noisy and difficult.

“Excellent location for getting around downtown Montreal. Walking distance to the Bell Center and St. Catherine's Street. Unique outdoor pool on the 17th floor. Staff was all friendly and helpful.”

• Excellent staff.
• A little more isolated than some other downtown hotels.

“The hotel was nice but not 4 star as others I have stayed in. The staff however was superior to most, friendly & helpful definitely, but also really pleasant and that matters a lot. It lacked the romantic weekend getaway feel of some of the other hotels in the area. Price and availability would have me consider it again, but not as a first choice. The garden and pool areas were beautiful, but the rain and cold were a deterrent. I loved the art on the walls, it was vibrant and a huge step above most hotel wall art. Rooms with adjacent doors were not very sound proof and as a result there was more noise than I expected. It was a nice place.”

• Location is ok.
• Noisy; not clean enough; poor mattress; expensive parking.

“This hotel is very noisy. The walls are thin so you can hear any motions in the hallways. Some of the staff members are not very friendly. We found 2 spiders in our room. There was a spider web in the bathroom. The mattress was too soft for anyone with back problems. We did not enjoy our stay.”

• Convenient location and very clean. Pool and outdoor gardens are excellent.
• The access to the room had stairs which caused a problem with the luggage

• Very nice rooms, extremely comfortable mattress.
• Parking was expensive and was an additional cost.

“The room was beautiful. The mattress was so comfortable and they had lots of different types of pillows (feather or polyester fill) on the bed so you could choose which ones you liked best.”

• The pool.
• Looked older, had to pay for parking and internet.

“Clean enough but not new looking. They nickel and dime you for parking and Internet. Which was fine hotel management 101 might tell them to do that, but it didn't get people like me to return, Or recommend them. No free continental breakfast. We paid including tax per night for 3 nights. I expected a little more then I got. Montreal itself was great though! We loved the city.”

• The hotel is in a good location.
• The hotel was extremely inconvenient to family traveling with young children.

“We were traveling with a young child (with a stroller). There was no elevator in the hotel and we were put on the third floor. It was ridiculously difficult to drag a stroller to the third floor. Never once was a hotel staff offered to help. We did not even get a crib in the hotel room. This hotel was not kid friendly.”

• The view southeast is quite unpleasant, WiFi doesn't work.

“The hotel is massive, and very easy to find. The pool is nice except it was very family oriented, and quite difficult to access. The amenities book could use updating and should include a map and/or recommendations.”

• Location, staff friendliness and efficiency, outstanding co-operation when I arrived early and when assistance was needed with tape for securing boxes.
• Nothing.

“I would, and have recommended priceline and the Place Bonaventure Hilton to friends and family. The location and service were both excellent. Advice and assistance from the front desk staff was superior and friendly. The room was clean and nicely appointed and relatively quiet. When I return to Montreal, I look forward to another stay at this location and continued superior Hilton service.”

• No available queen size bed, old style room, not so close from Montreal downtown.

“Old style rooms, small bathroom, internet not expensive, quick room service, cannot offer queen size bed in available rooms, 10$/hour if you extend stay after 12:00 not very good in business!”

• Hotel employees are 1st class.
• Interior floor plan has too many steps to the guest rooms from the front desk.

“Excellent location to transportation, shopping, dining and Old Montreal. Staff in the Belvedere Lounge was very helpful to us. Great recommendations for dinner and local attractions. Gold star employee.”

• Central location to shopping, restaurants and train/public transit. Superb comfort of room.
• No late check out available.

“The Hilton Bonaventure is a fabulous facility located in the heart of Montreal. Most of Montreal's finest restaurants and shopping experiences (la rue Ste. Catherine) are steps away and there is a subway (metro) station under the building and a train station across the street. The rooms are modern and comfortable with all expected amenities. There is a roof top garden and outdoor heated pool.”

• 1960's Russian experience and not really a hotel.

“This is a failed urban experiment - the 10th and 11th floors of an office building. Long corridors and small rooms. Wouldn't recommend or want to stay there again, not a 4 star hotel. Hotel staff barged in without knocking.”

• No CD player in the room.

“Despite being located in somewhat of a wasteland in the downtown core it nonetheless offers many amenities. The room was spacious, clean & comfortable. The concierge & front desk were accommodating. It offers a bit of a reto trip, era Expo 67. I would think families would enjoy the outdoor pool facilities. For wandering the more hip areas of Montreal (The Village, The Plateau, Mile End) it's a $15 cab ride away.”

• The pool was fabulous! Common areas of the hotel are very nice!
• Our bathroom was not clean when we checked in and our
  TV did not have reception.

“The hotel is in a fantastic location, close to everything! The staff is very friendly and they have great amenities. The corridors to the rooms are in desperate need of an update. The rooms themselves are very nice with fabulous beds and modern bedding. The bathroom was not very clean when we checked in, nor were the mugs in the coffee maker. It is little things like that will make you take a closer look at everything! I would stay there again, but not with a car.”

“Over the hotel met with my high expectations (I have done a lot of traveling). It is a nice place to stay in Montreal. Clean, friendly and professional. It is close to the downtown core as well. What else can you ask for? I would stay there again.”

• The pool was warm as a bathtub, the rooms were outstanding, the gardens and ponds were beautiful.
• The stairs to rooms because of the location on top of the building.

“The location is perfect for business travelers because of its location in the Business District. This hotel is on the top floor of the building and you have to walk up or down 5 to 15 steps to get to rooms, which wasn't that easy dragging luggage. The breakfast buffet was great and the rooms were excellent. Most of all the pool and the poolside bar were very relaxing additions to enhance our stay. If you are a smoker they have a section outdoors on the rooftop where you can smoke and a drink without having to go all the way downstairs. It was a few blocks to shopping and eateries so next time we visit we will locate a hotel closer to these.”

• The room was very big and seemed to have been recently updated.
• The hallways were ugly but that was the only thing I didn't like about the hotel.

“The Hilton was located right in the middle of downtown. There was a Subway in basement of the hotel so it was easy to get around to all parts of the city. You could also walk to many areas as well. The room was a lot bigger then I expected and very clean. The only thing I did not like about the hotel was the hallways because the carpet was ugly and the walls were cement.”

• No elevators to rooms. Would be difficult for disabled travelers.

“We enjoyed our stay here. The room and beds were comfortable, the location was ideal for walking to the old town and other attractions. We loved the pool and garden areas, which were beautiful and which enhanced the property's visual appeal.”

“We were pleased with the service in light of the rotating hotel strikes in Montreal. We had relatives staying at the Hyatt and they were not looked after very well (no room cleaning service).”

• Great location, courteous front desk and concierge, very friendly doormen.
• Room could have been cleaned better, was passable. Parking fee was high.

“Besides the other comments I made, They should have provided free WIFI in the rooms. The lobby was crowded with laptops. Room was cleaned until very late afternoons, I suppose one could request earlier attention if it was needed.”

• The pool was stunning and in a beautiful setting.
• Was a bit of a walk to attractions.

“The staff was very helpful. The rooms were very nice and immaculate. The health club was very large and well equipped. The pool was beautifully designed, with a back drop of many of the city's skyscrapers. There is a rooftop garden/Arboretum that helped give the hotel a peaceful and serene feel to it.”

• The rooms were newly renovated, excellent beds, very quiet.
• There was nothing negative about this hotel and I have stayed in Montréal over the last 16 years.

“This is one of the greatest unknown oasis in Montreal in the summer you feel like you are in a resort in a metropolitan city with pool surrounded by trees and ponds with ducks, escaped the noise and excitement of the city and sleep, with no traffic noises, really very quiet and you don't hear any noises from the neighbors since the walls must be cement the building material of this complex. Try it you'll love it. It is as well central to the downtown core and old Montréal with a Metro stop just below the hotel, and food courts had dining steps away.”

• Location was excellent. Lovely pool.
• Very noisy. I could hear every door in my hall closing, all 30 of them.

“Nothing special, the Hilton was hosting a lot of children on the weekend we were there. We asked to be moved after the first night due to noise from kids next door and they accommodated us immediately. Unfortunately the new room was only marginally better. For a four star hotel, you'd think they'd be able to have the doors close quietly rather than slamming shut. I could hear every door in my hall closing - even 15 doors down the hall.”

“A concrete 70's beast on the outside, the Hilton at Place Bonaventure provides a refuge in the middle of downtown Montreal. Excellent staff. We stay here frequently, the recent room upgrades (2008) lend a boutique hotel sophistication. Excellent choice for business travelers and couples.”

• The room was very well decorated.
• Somehow, they managed to capture the essence of a fruit cellar on the 17th floor of a building!

“This hotel was exactly what I expected. The building is tired and from the 60s or 70s. Somehow, when on the top floor (where the hotel is), it feels like you're in a basement. The rooms are nice, the service is great, but the unfinished concrete appearance leaves you feeling like youre in a cold cellar built by communists.”

• The hotel layout was nice, an inner area of trees and running water, i.e. a touch of nature in an urban environment. Nice swimming pool too!
• Stairway's only to reach floor levels, elevators not evident except to lobby from street; best for light travelers.

“Centrally located, comfortable and well appointed rooms, and very quiet also. Nice swimming pool. A nice respite in an urban landscape.”
