• The complementary breakfast was wonderful. To call it a continental breakfast does not do it justice.
• Nothing.

“Everything about this hotel was excellent. The free breakfast was amazing and continually refreshed all morning. Free internet and local phone calls was a huge plus. Clean, lovely, great pillows and beds, spacious rooms with frig and microwave! ”

• Some of the staff were excellent and accommodating.
• I was not able to get the type of room I wanted.

“It's fine. It served its purpose, and I stayed for a reasonable price. I don't like that they say they accept pets but will charge $100 dollars non-refundable to bring a small dog. They did work with me on this issue. They seemed short-staffed. There was always only one person at the front desk. Because they often only had one bellhop/concierge, if you had a car that needed to be parked, then you had to take your luggage to your room on the cart while they parked the car. I am leaning towards not recommending this hotel only because there are so many nice hotels in this area.”

• That it was an all suite hotel with plenty of space.
• The breakfast area was not big enough to cope with the demand. It was chaos at times and nowhere to sit.

• Double bed suite is a plus for 3 persons.
• Parking fee is $16 per day and with a hefty 50% surcharge.

“Perfectly pleased with the accommodations We were only three or so blocks from Old Montreal - much closer to Chinatown. Downtown and a metro stop only a few blocks further. The rooms were a bit small but there was both a bedroom and separate living space. Additionally, our room had a small street facing balcony with a view of the top of the Hotel de Ville and other historic structures. The hotel staff was exceptionally friendly and the facilities were quite clean. I would highly recommend to subsequent travelers.”

• Clean, easy to get to.
• It was difficult that the rooms have kitchens but nothing available to use in it, like bowls, plates, silverware. Parking was expensive.

• The hotel had all the amenities you could ask for considering the price-overall a great value.
• There wasn't a bar or any attractive women walking about.

“This Holiday Inn was clean, the staff were helpful, there were no waits, the room had Internet access, a phone, fridge, microwave, cable television, and two queen beds - much more than I would have expected for the $100/pp total cost for two nights. A great value and very convenient.”

• Nice, big space including kitchen and living room, also liked three big closets.
• Valet parking was the only option for hotel parking and it was 20 dollars per night.

• The hotel has a good breakfast and internet services. Clean rooms and nice staff.
• We had problems with hot water, room temp. was related to it and had to be in 35*C to get a hot shower.

• The rooms were very nice and spacious. The location was pretty good for the price paid.
• There is no room service and the valet parking system is unorganized and slow. There service was not satisfying at all.

“The hotel's rooms are pretty spacious. The hotel's location is in the midst of Montreal and close to Eaton Center, Saint Catherine, Saint Laurent and old Montreal. The sole problem in this hotel was the staff's service. There was absolutely no room service. After asking for toothpaste, it got to our room 7 hours later after asking for it over and over again. Valet parking is unorganized and slow, yet it does depend on the day of checkout (in my case, New Year's Day). Overall a good experience. Rooms are very nice and well priced, yet service is disappointing.”

• Large room, excellent quality, cleanliness, professional and friendly staff, great breakfast, suites are sweet.
• Though it's close to downtown and old Montreal, it's unfortunate that it's so close to the red light district too.

“Despite the hotel's proximity to the red light district, the quality of the hotel, its rooms and its staff exceeded my expectations by far. The fact that we were in a suite was an added treat, especially since we had to stay in one night due to the rain. I stayed in the best hotel of my life.”

• Unhelpful staff. Impractical amenity-- suite with kitchen, but no stove/pans/pots/utensils

“The hotel is centrally located, very convenient. However, the so called suite with kitchen, has no stove/pans/pots/plates/utensils what so ever. why bother to say it has a kitchen?We also called beforehand to request a crib, yet that request was not on file.There was one day we needed to get back to hotel before 2PM, and room was not cleaned yet. And when we left for 3 hours and left instruction to have the room cleaned, when we are back, the room was still the same.”

• The balcony overlooking the city and old Montreal was an unexpected bonus.

“I thought the hotel was a steal at the price I paid. Our room was a suite and the hotel offered free hi-speed internet in the room. I emailed the hotel and was able to combine reservations as well as request a non-smoking room. All in all I was pleased with the hotel location, staff and stay.”

• The room was huge; a suite, really. The front desk staff were wonderful.
• I liked everything- it truly exceeded expectations.

• Location is dicey--sort of a red-light area one block away. Avoidable, but a pain.

“I very much enjoyed staying at this hotel, and have gone back. The rooms are clean, I got a suite one time, with separate bedroom and living room. Each room I've stayed in had a kitchen with fridge, stove, etc., which is a nice bonus. And the free breakfast is extremely good--muffins, bagels, hard-boiled eggs, fruit, yogurt, several types of good bread for toast, etc. The one drawback is that there's a sort of red-light district one block away on St. Catherine. Not unsafe, just a bit problematic for some families. You can avoid it, but it's a pain--especially since the hotel itself is so great for families.”

• Excellent place with great service, kitchenette, fabulous breakfast, best hotel bargain in Montreal.
• There was nothing I did not like. I stayed an extra night at regular price since it is a great place.

“The hotel is an excellent bargain especially because of the services it provides (it has wireless internet a full kitchen in most rooms.) The staff is excellent and they go out of the way to make you feel at home. Clean, comfortable, and well situated with parking available for a fee and a great continental breakfast, this is the best bargain in terms of hotel in Montreal. The Business Center has two computers and a printer available 24/7, which is another advantage. I plan to return and stay since it is such a great deal, close to a supermarket, the subway, Chinatown, and within walking distance of Old Montreal. Great job.”

“The hotel was well beyond expectations. Located near several nice restaurants and a mall, there were plenty of opportunities for recreation. The staff were considerate and knowledgeable of the area which added to the experience as well. Most days ended with a Labatt's being thrown back at the bar located in the Days Inn across the street.”

Hotel was found afterwards at fault,and I received a free stay next time ONLY because I pushed for it.Hotel,being and admitting their error,should have offered to me. • Apartment style rooms (separate bedroom + living room)

“Excellent hotel. Conveniently located near Old Montreal and the bars/restaurants of St Laurent and St Denis. Decor isn't as interesting or plush as a 3* or 4*, but you can't beat having a separate living room and well equipped kitchen.”

“It was in the perfect location for my stay. It was right around the corner from Club Soda, were the venue I attended was, and St. Catherine Street, the strip of Montreal. Oh yeah!! 5 minutes to the Casino. It was an awesome and cheap Birthday weekend. ”

“Great location, walking distance from the Latin Quarter and Old Montreal and close to subway stations (4 or 5 blocks) for access to the whole city. Room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. Room amenities included a microwave, coffee machine AND kettle. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Fantastic complimentary buffet breakfast. Great hotel.”

• Hidden fees! I was never told that parking/valet was not included & was charged a large sum for it

“Holiday Inn Express by FAR surpassed my expections. The staff was incredibly friendly & eager to please their guests. I was very impressed with both the quality & size of the room. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in Montreal.

The only thing I didn't like about this hotel is actually a trivial thing. I wasn't told about the parking/valet fees in advance & was hit with a suprise bill at the end of my stay. I feel it to be the responsibility of the hotel administration to advise their guests of any paid-services so that they may make the decision knowingly.”

• Too cold, limited HOT WATER IN CANADIAN WINTER

“The door man was yelling me not to park in the front, and I was really cold in the roon, when outside was like -10 degree F.
Even hot water ran out after the hot bath, and I had to wait an hour or two before using hot water again.
If I knew it, I would have not taken this deal. I wish I had 2 star than 2 1/2 upgrade.”

“Really provided a wonderful accommodatoin--corner room. Continental breakfast was more than jucice/coffee/toast. It included fruit, choice of yogurt, bagels, etc. The room support staff (cleaning folks) were a little lacking in not following through on a couple of things. Two computer setups in lobby for free access to internet (one unit has a printer).”

“The hotel, for the value was great. I had called the hotel to give them the names of the guests in my group of 8 in 4 rooms, as well as called to make sure they had parking for my oversize vehicle (a van pulling a trailer). They did NOT have parking even though they said they did when I phoned. Woman at the desk screamed at me and refused to put the names of my guests and at least two in my group missed important phone calls since she wouldn't put names on the rooms.”
