• Convenient access to the entire city via Metro.
• Parking is expensive and amounts to a substantial cost.

“Hotel is in a great location for people who want to visit the city using the Metro. If you are visiting Montreal, use the Metro and you will save a lot of money and hassles. Parking and internet are extra and expensive at this hotel. $26 for parking and $14 for internet. Park yourself in the Complexe Des Jardins and save some money and use the Metro to get around the city. Room was decent. Bathroom has very poor lighting.”

• The rooms were dark with no ventilation & no bathroom fan.

“The hotel was in an excellent location, but when checked in very late around 2 a.m., we did not find the staff to be very friendly. The overall experience at the hotel was good though. The beds were comfy and it served our purposes for the weekend, but the rooms had bad lighting and were kind of dark and with no fan in the bathroom or the ability to open a window, the room could get stuffy and uncomfortable after someone takes a shower in the room and the heat pours out into the common area. We found it difficult to spend any extended period of time in the hotel because of the ventilation issue. Needless to say, the dryness that the air conditioner in the room produced also added to the ventilation problem. Driving directions to the hotel are horrible. Eventually, after driving around in the dark down desolate roads for an hour or so, we called the hotel for directions and they gave us a more direct route. It is also important to note that the signage in Canada was very poor and one should plan to cross into Canada if they are driving during daylight hours because absolutely nothing was open nor was there a gas station to get better directions or a map.”

“The hotel was in the best location! It was on the main shopping street directly between the clubs and the old city. If it was ever too far from something to walk, the Metro was less than a block away. The hotel was well decorated and the staff was friendly. Overall, it was a great experience!”

• Great location and nice rooms.
• Two sets of elevators in order to enter or leave your hotel room.

“A great location Downtown and excellent rooms. My only complaint with this hotel is that you had to take two sets of elevators; one to get from the street/parking to the lobby on the 6th floor, and a second to get to your room that oddly starts has its own set of floor numbering. This is really just a nit pick since often you don't have to wait more than 10 seconds for an elevator.”

• The concierge was very helpful.
• There wasn't much of a view from the lobby or our rooms. I was disappointed that the pool was closed for maintenance.

“It was a very attractive modern looking hotel. We liked the duvet and the generous amount of pillows on the bed. It was so close to great shopping. The terrace looked to be lovely too.”

“First of all, the location is great! You're already downtown, so you can walk to Chinatown and Old Montreal and Old Port. As well, a Subway station was located underground via mall so that was convenient as well. The concierge was very friendly and helpful and the hotel staff was great. I would not recommend room service as it is too costly and the dessert I ordered was not worth $13 (cake and ice cream). The room was pleasantly decorated but I found it a little smaller that the Hilton and Marriot. There was a small square on the wall that was an eye sore just because it looked like. It needed renovation but with that said it was a great room and lovely place to stay at. The most negative thing I had to say was that the pool was under renovations that weekend I stay so I did not get to enjoy it, as well as there was construction going on in front of the Hyatt which was quite annoying!”

• Location was ideal, within walking distance to everything we wanted to see.
• Very disappointed with pool/terrace area not being available, under major renovations. Exercise room adequate, but no control on music and no water.

“Good for business travelers or those only wishing a place to lay their head at night, after a day of sightseeing. Not recommended for leisurely, relaxation spot for a couple because nothing was available on site to enjoy, other than mall and restaurants. Must say they did compensate us for our expressed disappointment of the lack of pool/hot tub/terrace availability and the surprise additional parking fees. They gave us two complimentary full breakfasts at an attached restaurant. The breakfast was fantastic! So, we were disappointed at the lack of available recreational facilities we were expecting, but their compensation helped ease the disappointment somewhat. And they do have a great location!”

• Rooms were nicely decorated, almost boutique.
• Expected a pool, it was closed.

“Staff is very friendly, except for a minor union issue regarding re-making the bed due to unsanitary linens. Disappointed that the pool was closed and were not advised, as this was necessary for therapeutic reasons for one member in my party (2 rooms). Hotel is well situated between downtown and Old Montreal.”

• It was in the right location in Montreal.
• Room was not clean and lacked basic amenities like even a glass of water.

“Surprisingly, The Hyatt Regency was a bust. Other than its location, there is not much to brag about. Room was not very clean and lacked basic amenities, staff seemed nice but they kept forgetting to bring us soap ang mugs and the bathrobes that were supposed to be in that room. Service was extremely slow. I contacted the hotel and they said that they were looking into it. I would not stay in that hotel again.”

• Confusing elevator system, lack of staff during emergencies.

“Unfortunately I was staying at the hotel when a fire broke out at about 330 am on one of the hotel terraces. The alarm system worked well but the evacuation process was somewhat of a nightmare. Those on my floor (8th level) followed the emergency exit down the stairs, which were poorly marked, and out the emergency exit which took you to the mall. When we got to the mall doors, they were locked! Everyone started to panic, but eventually we managed to get ourselves out through the parking garage a few more flights down. There was absolutely no staff aid to be found during the evacuation which i found to be very annoying. Although the hotel recovered well, and the next morning everything was back to normal as if it hadn't really happened. Besides that incident, the hotel was fabulous. Besides the confusing elevator system, it was very clean and neat and the staff was friendly. No problems if you don't speak French. Valle parking was convenient as well. Great breakfast buffet. Would definitely go back.”

• The mall directly underneath it is great!
• Do not exchange your money at the front desk.

“The hotel is very clean and the staff is helpful and friendly. There is a mall with a liquor store, we went for a bachelor party, a supermarket, a food court and several restaurants that was located right underneath the hotel. It was extremely convenient and it definitely came in handy. It's about a 8-10 minute walk or $10 cab ride with tip to the bars and strip clubs. Overall we enjoyed our experience and this hotel was great to us!”

“The Hyatt Regency is centrally located directly across form the Place des Arts in Montreal. Old Port, Chinatown, Ste Catherine Street shopping are all within walking distance. The rooms are typical of this star level well appointed and well kept. We requested a room on a high floor, away from elevators and ice machines and got our request.”

• Room layout too narrow.

“A well situated hotel near Montreal's Old Port, Financial District, Convention Centre and Centre for Performing Arts, the Hyatt Montreal is a pleasant, efficient hotel with a twist of Montreal charm. The hotel is also connected to Montreal's efficient metro system and underground city allowing one to visit numerous interesting sights in locations beyond Downtown. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I would most definitely consider the Hyatt Montreal again when I'm in the city for either business or pleasure.”

“The staff at the desk was above and beyond helpful. Room was gorgeous. Location great - within walking distance to everything. Parking very reasonable in garage at $8 a day evening and weekends. For a Friday evening through Sunday afternoon stay, payment was $16! Can't beat it. Very pleased and happy as can be with hotel! Thank you!”

• Pool closed unexpectedly.

“The staff were quite friendly and accommodating, the location was perfect in walking distance from the train, shopping, art museum. The only complaint I have is that a staff member opened the door (I was in the bath), shut it right away realizing I was there, but did not shout out 'sorry, mistake' so I was frightened not knowing who had unlocked the door. I spoke with the maid afterwards and did lodge a complaint. Otherwise all was excellent. Note: no fridge was in the room, we had to ask for one.”

“Beautiful hotel, however the rooms might need to be updated, and uplifted. There was a noise in my room for the 2 days I spent there. It sounded like the room above me was being vacuumed non-stop. The sound made it very hard to fall asleep. But overall great hotel if your a deep sleeper!”

• The room was very comfortable, clean, and spacious.
• It was inconvenient not having direct street level access.

“I stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Montreal for two nights in November. The location was outstanding, only 2 minute walk from the best shopping stretch of Ste. Catherine Street. It's connected underground to the Art Centre/Complex, and is located above a shopping centre and convention centre. For a quick bite to eat, the food court there has above average quality and variety. The rooms are fairly spacious, and very clean. Overall, I was very happy with this hotel. I would gladly stay here again.”

• The hotel staff are not that friendly to non-French speaking guests.

“The check in took too long. The room that we checked into was not ready. It had the earlier guest's leftovers all over the room. It took about an hour for us to change the room.”
