• Location good for walking and had a good shower.
• Toilet wasn't flushing and it took a long time to get it fixed.

“Location is easy to drive to and within walking distance of sights and services. Internet connection worked well. Housekeeping was slow to respond to plumbing problem and had to be called back to clean area. The pool wasn't really good for children or for swimming. Staff were friendly, particularly in restaurant and the valets for parking. Adequate hotel if you weren't going to be spending too much time there or if you were working at computer/phone.”

• Room size and style. Location of parking and street sign age in parking. Marriott sign on the roof was a huge help!
• The clothing boutique was too tempting for my partner! Joke!

• The check in staff were very helpful and professional.
• Valet parking was a little pricey at NA/day,, even for Montréal standards.

“From check-in to check-out, everything flowed smoothly. The room itself was exceptional with attractive quilts on comfortable beds. The view was very nice of south Montréal (26th floor helped). I would definitely stay here again.”

• It was far from night life for young people.

• Wonderful service by hotel personnel, beautiful rooms.
• Parking is $$, bars and eateries close early.

“We were extremely pleased with our stay. The concierge offered amazing recommendations for restaurants. Rest. Julian is a must!! The manager, Marc, at the restaurant Julian will take care of Marriott customers. Location here is prime. The rooms were fantastically appointed, hot showers, powerful A/C, wonderful room service/cleanliness and impressive FREE high speed Internet. Parking is a bit $$, but, you do not need your car in the city if you are here on vacation. Would definitely stay here again! ”

“The hotel was excellent. The front desk staff was friendly and accommodating. The only problem was the valet parking. We found it inconvenient and one time had to wait 30 minutes for them to bring the car up.”

• Parking was expensive (but convenient).

• Concierge not on duty 24 hours.

“The famous "cheese grater" appearance of the Marriott Champlain was even better from the rooms. The city view is spectacular -- Mont Royal in the background and two parks in the foreground. Rooms are comfortable and the staff was helpful.”

• Very comfortable rooms, interesting view from my floor (19), good location.
• Small lobby, OK for short waits, but not to hang out.

“Well-located just off downtown, close to Metro and underground passageways. Beds are high-end and very comfortable. Room is nicely laid out with a separate dressing area between bathroom and sleeping area. The resulting room is on the small side - perfect size for a king bed, but it might be cramped with 2 doubles.”

• This hotel was incredibly accommodating and perfect location.
• There is NOTHING to dislike about this hotel.

“Everything about this hotel was beautiful and our stay while there was perfect. We had a 3 year old son who safely played in the pool with the life vest they had available. LOVED this hotel!”

• Great view and room service.
• There are different sized room, and our room was slightly smaller than last time.

“Great view if you get a room with a view of the city. We weren't supposed to, but we got there early enough and they accommodated our request. The staff were friendly with all our requests and we liked the way they set up room service. Very convenient location because it was close to the downtown shopping and right in the business district. Lots of good restaurants nearby.”

• The many amenities, the availability of local information and advice by hotel telephone.
• Doorman was helpful but not "Very Helpful" as I was leaving to catch a bus to the airport.

• Staff were excellent, location is great, views were great.
• Rooms are very tired chairs had foam coming out.

“Everything in the rooms needs updating from the chair that had foam coming out to the dingy shower. The location is superb, the metro is accessible from the hotel. In walking distance there are some great sites. The staff was great in dealing with our broken French and the lobby area is very nice.”

• This hotel has the best location in Montreal.
• This hotel is perfection. There are no negatives.

“We were given the best room (in our opinion) in the hotel. The view from the floor-to-ceiling window was incredible. The staff was very nice and friendly. Our experience there was wonderful. We had visited Montreal many times in the past and had always stayed at The Queen Elizabeth but their rates had increased and we decided to look for something less expensive. ”

• Great room, although a little on the small size. Swimming pool and fitness area were wonderful.
• Inconvenient access to garage and no ramp to the front door. Internet problems.

“On the whole, very satisfactory. The wireless internet did not work well, however, and was only free for the first day. The hotel really needs a better handicapped/stroller entrance. There is no ramp to the front door and the only ramp further down from the main entrance is inconveniently placed with doors that are very difficult to open.”

• Location is excellent. It was right on top of the underground mall
• It is an old hotel. Also charge a lot of money for parking.

“Hotel is getting old but it is still very clean. It has great location. They charge $14 parking every time you enter the parking lot. If you don't move you car after you park, then it is $14/day. They have a good gym and a pool. The pool is a little small but functional. Not bad for an old hotel and if you don't expect too much.”

• Good, clean hotel with convenient downtown location.
• Room was small and breakfast was not complimentary.

“Overall, an excellent value. A few minor quibbles - breakfast was not included, although for the same price from Tourism Montreal website, it would have been. A/C takes some time to cool the entire room - after a couple of hours though it works very well. But location was excellent, walking distance to old port area as well as museums.”

“The location of the hotel is excellent. Walking distance from the old city, as well as the shopping spots and nightlife. The hotel staff was very courteous & knowledgeable about the city. We took their recommendation for a French restaurant, Bonaparte and were not disappointed. The food was delicious. Nevertheless, the price was great and we're satisfied with our stay.”

“The Marriott Chateau Champlain is located on a bustling main street in Montreal. The service is impeccable--from the valet, to the front desk staff who are super-welcoming, to the spa and housekeeping staff and concierge. The room itself went above and beyond my expectations--this is a very well-kept, clean hotel. The bathroom is the cleanest hotel bathroom I've ever seen--clean enough to take a bath in the large tub after a hard day of walking! The view out the (lovely, arched) windows (which were facing Rue de la Gauchetiere) offered a sprawling picture of the city and the hills in the distance. Overall, a most wonderful experience and a great base from which to explore fantastic Montreal.”

• we had flowers we brought and service brought vase without our asking

“This was the friendliest big hotel I have been to in Canada. Although they were unable to accomodate our request for an extra bed in the room or a room with a larger bed, they were extremely polite about it. Every service encounter was very pleasant; the manager of this hotel must be very good to have such dedicated staff.”

“Though not in the "center" of town, we liked the location and the fact it had a metro station under the hotel. it was close enohght to walk around the city. Service at the hotel was efficient and friendly. Rooms were clean and satisfactory, though our room faced an office building.”

“Nice hotel, clean, great location. Great views from my bedroom! It is an older hotel that has not been updated, although it is well maintained. I would stay there again. Some of the staff was rude, although I encountered the same attitude throughout the city so I guess it's a local trait. Great value overall!My only complaint is the fact that I got a smoking room and when I asked for a non-smoking room I was told there were none available and that such request on my reservation could not be guaranteed.”

• The hotel staff is commendable..Everyone was helpful and friendly, from the doorman to the housekeepers to the conceirge and the front desk folks.
• Just a little matter of no icemakers on every floor but it is not a real big deal

“We were pleasantly surprised with the hotel. We booked two rooms and was granted every wish..non smoking/king and double. Everyone was extremely helpful and sooo friendly!! the housemaid even gave me a cheek kiss goodbye! The view was excellent especially at night..so very quiet on the higher floors..I give this hotel 5 stars....”

• nice location, adequate facilties, generally a pleasant experience
• some of the equipment was not up to par (alarm clock, shower drainage, light in bathroom, was told i couldn't get a non smoking room)

“the chateau champlain is conviently located and generally has a nice staff and good facilities. some of the equipment was faulty but this was remedied when it was brought to the staff's attention. overall, it was a pleasant stay.”

• Convenient location to all touristic sites and it has very nice shower.
• For self-parking, the hotel charged $14 each time we took the car

• I love the bed and the decor inside the room
• Staff not too friendly

“I recommend you to stay at this hotel. They have free breakfast (fruits, cereal, bread, muffin, etc.), but the funny part: THEY DON'T TELL YOU THERE'S A FREE BREAKFAST. So make sure you ask about it.”

“The hotel amenities were excellent - only complaint is that though hotel was within the borders of the downtown area it was way on the fringe for leisure activities - and though the staff was helpful in all other areas they were unable to address or answer my requests for public bus transportation which I later learned was quite convenient - other than that all was well.”

“The hotel room was clean, and has nice amenities. The concierge is always absent, room service is atrocious, some front desk personnel are borderline idiots. Employees did not have consensus on how much things cost (i.e. parking signs posted and parking attendant said $13.00 per day, but the hotel charged us $18.00 in our bill) ... they didn't even reverse the charges stating that the sign was wrong, after I brought it up ... false advertisement ... we got coffee for 2 and charged us for 4 ... recreation area is dirty... decent gym.”
