• Nice location, non smoking and relatively clean.
• Nothing.

“Better than expected. After reading other reviews I did not have high expectations. But this hotel is now non smoker. Most of the staff was friendly and helpfully. They had an issue with the pool but brought people right away to fix it on a Saturday.”

• It was a great location, especially if you are driving to Ottawa.
• Hot tub was set to high.

• Location.
• The beds were to the worst we have ever slept on including people's cottages.

• The staff was more than helpful.
• Location to what I wanted and needed, everything just a little shabby and worn.

• Location is close to Ottawa, major highways and shopping centers. Room has two queen beds.
• Rude staff, only two sets of towels, broken and noisy AC in room.

• Room amenities were perfect for the overnight stay.
• Not enough towels and supplies for the bathroom.

“Amazing and helpful staff, free parking is a great bonus, mall across the street makes it all too convenient, and less that 5 minutes from Downtown makes it well worth the stay. Even the cleaning staff is more then helpful!”

• The location was very convenient because I wanted to be near highway 417.
• The furniture and bed linens were old and tired. Chair at desk was coming apart.

• Nice and quiet comfortable bed, but we had to upgrade to a king size bed.
• The fact that I had to pay $45 additional for a king size bed.

“This hotel has nice style, and all the amenities you require on a short trip, it is conveniently located near a shopping centre and with restaurant of every kind within 5 minute drive.”

• Unfriendly staff, poor condition of mattress.

“None of the front desk/management staff encountered smiled, even when eye contact was established. Now, this is a hotel and as such customer service should be the utmost importance. However, I failed to observe it. Mattresses in room definitely needs replacement, if its over their operating budget then they can get it from a garage sale and it would still be better than what they have. A hotel that's designed for business travelers should at least have 1 computer in the lobby for free, in my opinion. This place had the little kiosk which was in bad shape as the keys were not fully operational, I mean there are better ways to increase profits and this is not one of them. Overall, this place is worse than the budget hotels. Just have the lobby impressive isn't going to work.”

“For the money in Ottawa I thought the staff was super friendly and very helpful the hotel was clean new mattress and nice amenities. It is just across from a big mall and a few blocks from kids activities and Downtown will recommend to others.”

• This hotel was fast and easy to access from a major Ottawa highway.
• I thought that this hotel's decor was somewhat dated.

“Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the Chimo. I have stayed here before about 14 years ago. The rooms were clean, but average. They included key amenities like hair dryer, coffee maker, and mini-bar. I particularly liked the safety feature that involved using your key card to use the elevator. I would stay at the Chimo hotel again. It was very economical.”

• Location near highway.
• Room overall in need of a remodel, bathroom in particular.

“We needed a hotel for one night to attend a party. I lived in Ottawa 10 years earlier and thought the Chimo was a pretty decent hotel. I guess they haven't updated during that time. The room and bathroom in particular, was in need of a remodel. The bathroom did not seem clean. We would not take a bath in the tub, only a shower. It was alright for its purpose, but it did not seem like a 3 star hotel. I would give it 2, or maybe 2.5 stars.”

• Free parking, good east end location.
• Soiled carpets, uncomfortable beds, no room service.

“The Chemo is in a good location for those with family or interests in the east end of Ottawa or Orleans, with great access to highway 417 or the Queensway. A major shopping center is across the street. Free parking is a plus. However, the beds were well worn and uncomfortable and need to be upgraded. Also the carpets in my room were soiled. Nothing here to get excited about.”

• Free internet, free parking.
• The room didnt had an fresh air, the air was bad and the a/c or heater fan was noisy and beside the bed. No windows to refresh the air.

“The bed is 10+the bathroom is around 8 (the toilet wasn't flush well, at home everything works perfect) the carpet was with some spots of dirt luckily I had the flippers. TV was ok liked the free internet and free parking didnt had the guts to use the pool. Which was free as well because of the poor ventilation system the air inside was really bad. We had to open the door to refresh the air. Also the bathroom doesn't has any fan/ ventilator like at home so after we had the shower we had to leave the room door open and bathroom door. As well overall. This hotel is more like 2.5 stars.”

“I read a lot of negative reviews about this hotel. It isn't within walking distance to downtown, but it's still very well located across from a big mall and near lots of chain restaurants. It's only a short drive to downtown so that didn't bother me too much. The best however, is the free wireless internet access, this is something you don't see anywhere really. Overall, a good experience for the money”

• I did not like this hotel.
• Mattresses at least 10 years old. Fire alarm at 11 pm.

“While this hotel was ranked as 3-star, it's "bones" were very old. It might have had the amenities needed to qualify (hair dryer, TV with remote, phone, internet access), but it did not live up to my expectations.”

• Bedding was very poor condition, thin sheets that were worn out, bed uncomfortable, and got a sore back.

“Economy hotel needs remodeling of suites and need new beds. Bedding is outdated and worn out. Pillows are old and lumpy, need replacing. Bathrooms need updating, mold in bathtub.”

• The beds were comfortable.
• The pool change room area was not very easy to change in or shower in.

“The hotel was very clean and the staff was friendly. The room was clean, the bar area was comfortable and relaxing. The pool area was ok but the change area was not acceptable people would be able to view the females changing as the way the door opens to the room. Definitely has to be changed around or a curtain put up to make it more comfortable for changing it.”

• The pool and hot tub were nice.
• The air quality in the room was extremely poor. The air conditioning unit was awful. I developed a headache at 2:00 am due to the extremely bad air.

“The air quality in the room was bad. I pointed this out to management upon my arrival, so they sent a technician up to the room to adjust the air conditioner. This, however, did little to help the situation. It remained stuffy in the room ( lack of oxygen & it smelled of perfume). Also, the air conditioner blew cold air on me all night long. I developed a headache, waking up several times throughout the night. I did not get the rest I needed. The following day I had to go to a grueling panel interview. Because I did not get the rest I needed, I felt exhausted going into the job interview. Needless to say, my performance at the interview suffered”

• Plentiful ice and high speed internet.
• The hotel staff did not inform us that the wireless high speed internet did not work on our floor. As a result, we spent numerous hours trying too get.

• The hotel was clean, nice and comfortable. The tv had many good channels and the location was close to a mall and restaurants.
• They should offer continental breakfast.

“I really enjoyed my time at the Chimo Hotel. It may not be downtown or have a spectacular view but the rooms are really nice, the parking is free and the area has many stores, restaurants and a cinema. It is also close to Cosmic Adventure-an indoor playgound for kids. It is great value for the money.”

• It had free parking and a restaurant.
• The hotel was far from downtown and the staff was not necessarily that friendly.

“The picture of the hotel is deceiving. It's located in an industrial looking part of town and is not that close to downtown. I actually paid less for the Renaissance Hotel in Toroton Downtown than this hotel. So I'm not too thrilled about the quality, i got for this hotel. This hotel is decent and will do the job if you just need a place to sleep.The heating,cooling system was an archaic thing, not a modern unit.”

“The Chimo is a good business hotel. Clean, a little spartan in decoration, but convenient to Ottawa and available ample free parking which one does necessarily get in the city center. It is just minutes away from nearly every location in Ottawa.”

• Nice pool with friendly lifeguard.
• Far away from sites.

“Plan to take a bus, a cab or drive your car from this hotel to see the sites. It is a short walk across the street to a large mall which has a bus terminal. Very helpful management. Recent renovation of front walkway. Cabs are always ready and waiting in parking lot.”

• Not so easy to find not so close to attractions

“This is listed as a 3-star hotel but after going the next day to a 2-star which was a lot nicer ... I have to wonder about the star rating.The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and had most but not all of the amenities I would expect at a 3-star hotel.”
