• Lobby was pretty with the fire display and the snow flake lights.

“Hotel was nice, parking was confusing and took 20 minutes to self park. Room was nice but not as nice as I expected, bathroom a little small and had no bathtub, just a shower.”

• The location is excellent, minutes from museums, parliamant and bike paths.
• It was being renovated.

“The hotel is located in a mall. Breakfast and lunch can be had a short distance from your room. The pool and the massage service were very good. The view on the east side were not very good. Ask for a room facing North or West.”

• Hotel was very convent location. I liked the view of Ottawa town from my room. My room was very neat clean and roomy. Staff members were very good.
• I enjoyed the hotel very much. I don't have anything negative to say about you.

• Location.

“Everything was lovely, we had a renovated room and it was most comfortable. Nicely decorated, my only disappointment was the hot water. We had to get up extremely early to shower, not nice on our little mini vacation. Would have been nice to sleep in.”

“Great hotel in an central location attached to a large shopping mall. Lobby and public spaces were modern, clean and well maintained. Staff were all attentive and friendly. The room was spacious but in need of updating. Beds were hard but linens were nice enough. The hotel was undergoing a renovation which hopefully will resolve the quality issues, also there was a major construction project happening next door at the conference center which could ruin a stay there.”

• Perfect location for everything as a tourist.
• Extra parking charge. It is quite expensive.

“Room is clean and comfort. Everything you need is within a walking distance. Shopping mall that has a movie theater and a foot court is connected through the door, so even in a rainy day you can enjoy the stay. Parking charge is extremely high which you need to be aware of.”

• $35 to park the car, ouch!

• The location was wonderful along with the amazing views. Floor to ceiling windows!
• Parking was not included with your stay.

“Great weekend get away. The bar has a majestic view of the city facing up to Parliament at night. Friendly service through out the hotel. The best part was our view from the 20th floor looking out over the city!”

• View of the city, location is amazing, easy access to underground shopping and centre of all of the attractions.
• Parking choices were limited and expensive.

“Placed in the centre of Ottawa and positioned for an excellent view, you have access to the hotel's fitness centre, an enclosed shopping centre, and easy access to nearby museums. The staff is very professional and responds quickly to your needs. Parking is limited to Valet and a nearby lot, so based on your needs keep that in mind. Overall a great way to visit the Capital of Canada.”

• The room was just a bit below 4 star expectations. Bathroom had some small amounts of mold and grime. Could have been better.

“Overall it was an excellent location and very good hotel. I had a great time! I would stay here again. Of note, I cannot call it an excellent hotel because the bathroom could have been a little cleaner for a four star hotel (some mold and mildew in the bathroom).”

• Very nice! Their hotel has a saltwater pool!
• Nothing.

“Typical 4 5 star hotel. Great concierges service. Rooms were big and beautiful. Saltwater pool in the hotel, spa was a cool surprise! I recommend it!”

“The hotel is beautiful and in a great location. Its main entrance appears to be under construction, so it was hard to find the parking garage and the entry into the building is underwhelming. Very conveniently connected to conference centre and Rideau shopping mall. Extra charges for parking, internet, local calls from room.”

• The view was nice.
• The construction next to my window was awful.

“By all means, it's a great hotel at a great location. I was only affected by minor imperfections on the first day (key didn't work, lamp switch was broken). However, I was there to rest. I was woken up by a jack hammer, drills, and the yells of construction workers very early in the morning. Needless to say, it was very aggravating and I did not rest. It went on from sunrise until noon when I checked out. I don't know why they placed me on the eighth floor, facing a construction site immediately below my window on the seventh floor.”

• Its location is absolutely perfect, because you are close to everything; parliament, Byword Market, Rideau Mall, Rideau Canal etc.
• Parking is shared with the mall and its very expensive.

“Great hotel, clean, large rooms. Great location, close to Byword Market area, Rideau Mall, Rideau Canal, parliament buildings, city centre, etc. There were 2 things we didn't like; parking was connected to mall parking and was very expensive, also you need your room key to access the elevator. Other than that, a great hotel, worth the stay for the location alone.”

• Location for me is important, attached to Rideau center helps also.
• Charges to use the business centre. Charged for printing.

“Nice hotel with good location (attached to a mall). Pricey food for room service (typical 4 star) an also charges for the business centre. Overall I would stay there again.”

• I liked the atmosphere of the hotel, very friendly staff and I felt very safe a hotel. Great location. Also good check out time 1:00 is great.
• There was no shampoo in the room.

• Great location to many of Ottawa's tourist attractions.
• The lobby didn't look very attractive. Self parking too expensive.

“The Westin is very close to many of Ottawa's tourist attractions. For example, it is located across the street of the Rideau canal and very close to Ottawa's world heritage site-the Rideau canal locks and Byward market. The rooms are spacious, and higher floors have a wonderful view of the city. The staff was very helpful and also, dogs are allowed. We never heard one barking.”

• The location is fantastic!
• The parking is a problem.

“While I'd rate the hotel as perhaps 3.5 stars, I'd give it very high marks for location and the room size. Check-in was quick and very polite, as was check-out. The only real problem is the parking. It's in the Rideau Centre parking facility, which means if you don't opt to pay for valet parking, you must get a ticket and pay each time you take your car out. Although two separate staff at the hotel insisted that the fee would be $15/day maximum, that's only true if you don't move your car for 12 hours or more at a stretch. If you're planning on coming and going more frequently than that, check the Rideau Centre parking fees to get a sense of how much you can expect to pay. Short stays were along the lines of $1.75 per half hour.”

“The Westin Ottawa is centrally located in downtown Ottawa, so you can access all the major tourist attractions on foot. Overall, the staff seemed a little uppity and snooty, they weren't really all that warm. The restrooms for customers on the dining floor were stinky and dirty.”

• Great location, canal, Byward Market, Rideau Mall, DT.
• 2-star entrance area, broken escalators in mesanine.

“For a great view request an upper floor facing the river. Better than average internet rate in the business center, $5/15 minutes. Walkway to Rideau Mall, nice walks along Rideau Canal, go towards the river to see the locks operating, walk around behind the Parliament Bldgs for a pretty stroll. Couple blocks to Byward Market. If you like massages there are 2 for 1 coupon in the business center, 1 hour for the price of 30 minutes ($50) in the 6th floor spa, first visit only.”

• The only good thing is the comfortable bed.
• The staff are cold and rude!

“The only good thing is the location and the comfortable beds. The staff were extremely rude and the entire time I was there, I did not see any of them smile. The food was terrible and yet expensive. Next time I am in Ottawa I will certainly go back to the Chateau Laurier where staff know how to smile and to make guests feel welcome!”

• Front desk staff was not very friendly.

“Overall the room was quite pleasant. Comfortable bed and well presented. The hotel was under construction and this was not indicated anywhere before booking. The lobby was small and quite crowded when a group showed up to book in. I found the front desk staff unpleasant upon check-in. Room service was friendly and the food arrived in good time. Although the food was very good it did arrive a little on the cool side.”

• The location was great with plenty of attractions near by.
• Having to wake up every day at 6:20am we were looking forward to sleeping in, instead the hotel construction noise woke us up every morning.

“The hotel is in the perfect location, very nice and has great amenities. Unfortunately we were on vacation and were looking forward to sleeping in, which we normally do not have the pleasure of doing, although it was 7:30 we were still avoid to have been woken by the construction noise.”

• Safe and convenient location, lots of privacy.
• Needs to be remodeled, view was not attractive, a bit expensive for what was offered.

“The overall stay was ok, the room was a bit smaller than expected and the view wasn't very nice (looking at the idea centre), the lobby and the escalators were being remodeled when I stayed so the overall appearance wasn't attractive, has a lot of potential though.”
