• Location to where we needed to go was decent.
• Had to leave our room unlocked.

“Door key mechanism was broke, said they would have someone fix it and assured us our belongings were fine left in the room. Came back at 1 am to find that card key didn't work, but that didn't matter because the door could just be pushed open, and lock didn't work. Had to use chain lock on door. Then by about 8:15am next morning maid staff was already trying to come in the room and knocking (during the door fiasco, hadn't thought to put out the do not disturb hanger the night before).”

• The staff!
• It was a bit run down and the children's play area was under renovation.

“This hotel does need an overhaul if it wishes to be known as a business class hotel. However, our stay was very pleasant, and the room rate was great. The staff was amazing.”

“The hotel was clean, however, we were disappointed to find that we only had one bed. We ordered a cot, but it was lumpy and uncomfortable. We were disappointed to find that we had to pay for parking.”

“Well, with in and out parking privilege for $21 plus tax you might as well stay outside the down town core. The low speed Internet costs $9.95 plus tax a day and if you want normal high speed connection $19.95 a day.”

• Friendly manager.
• No heating system in night, freezing room.

“This hotel can not operate both heating and cooling system simultaneously. They were operating cooling system when we were there and we spent at 8 centigrade temperature night over there without heating! Both my wife and I caught cold. I complained to staff and manager but they could not do anything. I just wasted my money.”

• I liked the location and friendly staff of this hotel.
• Our booking was changed and we had one of the members of our party sleep on a cot as an extra bed was not available.

“We only stayed one night at this hotel and were not really able to take advantage of the amenities that the hotel offered. However my over all experience was good and I would recommend this hotel to someone else or stay there again if I go to Ottawa in the future. We really had a lot of help from the doorman. Very nice and even found us a place to eat at 10:00.”

• The location is excellent for visiting the core attractions of the city.
• Internet is not included in the reservation that I made. But the computer is available in the lobby.

“We stayed for 6 nights in 4 different hotels located in downtowns of Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto within the price range. I traveled with my wife and 15 years old son, so we want primarily a large room ideally with 2 queen-size beds. And we want to stay in the best part of the downtowns in Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto. We stayed Le Cantlie Suite Hotel and Day Inn in Montreal Crowne Plaza in Ottawa, and Shreaton in Toronto.”

• alright location
• Dated, and many thing in disrepair

“My only option for charging my laptop in my room was in the bathroom. Not an acceptable option for business travelers. Cardboard sign with marker writing indicated that other outlet was "pending repair". Asked about getting mini-fridge, and was told that they would "see what they could do". What they did was nothing, and never bothered to tell me that they wouldn't. Parking overpriced.”

• Very good location with 10 minutes walk to Parliament Hill.
• Noisy air-conditioner and noisy at corridor at mid-night.

“Pros: Very good location, spacious fitness center and swimming pool. Cons: The air-conditioner is hard to adjust and noisy. After mid-night,some people talked and laughed loadly in the corridor, affecting my sleep.”

• Location and amenities were in line with my expectations.
• The hall of the floor I stayed in (8th floor) and the room were smelly.

“I liked the location and the amenities (gym, swimming pool, etc). But the 8th floor where I stayed and the room smelled. Was OK for staying a weekend, but I would never stay for a longer period.”

“This started to be an okay visit but the room had cracked paint on the ceiling, also the wall. Furthermore, Early sunday morning awoke to fire alarm, Had to evacuate for over 2 hours. then no compensation was made by the hotel.”

• Little details in the room such a ear plugs, eye mask, little kit in the bathroom.
• Parking was a challenge.

“I found the staff very accommodating and willing to help. We changed rooms and left our confirmation in the first room. The staff retrieved the paper, put it in our new room (we were out), and turned on the lights and the clock radio and filled the ice budget with ice for when we returned. It's little details like that that show the hotel it attentive to their customers.”

• I love the service. Bellman was exceptionally helpful and nice! The front desk staff was wonderful! The maid was also terrific!

“Staff was helpful and friendly, location was great. Should have show caps in the room - ear plugs gave me wrong impression that the hotel is noise thought it wasn't. Ice machine on my floor (4th) was broken for two days. Facilities are out of date. Overall my stay was pleasant. The hotel staff even let my daughter to play the piano at the lobby because they didn't want to go home. They had too much fun in Ottawa! Keep up the good work. I will be back!”

• The location was really nice.
• The room was so-so, the furniture was oldish and the ceiling had water-marks on it.

“The location of the hotel was great. The public areas were nice. The room wasn't all that big but for one night it was fine. There were water marks and peeling plaster on the ceiling and the edges of the wallpaper on some walls was starting to peel. It was clean but could have used some freshening up to be really nice.”

• The lobby was amazing. The location couldn't be beat.
• The room was great.

“The hotel is in an excellent location, a short walk away from many of Ottawa's tourist attractions, such as Parliament, the Sparks Street pedestrian mall, the Byward Market, and many museums. The lobby is spectacularly done, and the rooms were clean and comfy. One thing of note, though. Overnight parking is $16, and parking with in/out privileges is $20. Get your in/out parking card from reception before going into the garage.”

“Good location and only a short walk to Parliament Hill and shopping. Room was very comfortable and clean and the front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Having to pay a daily fee for internet hookup was very disappointing although you could use the computers in the lobby at no charge, kind of a hassle.”

• Staff was friendly, and the hotel was clean and well-maintained.
• The air conditioner was not working properly and the room was quite warm; no fresh air available either.

“Overall the hotel was good. The location was excellent for our purposes. It is clean, and very nicely decorated. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The only problem was the air conditioner was not working properly, and since the windows didn't open, the room was uncomfortably warm.”

• The staff in the lobby and the front desk. Fantastic!
• The charge for in-room (Ethernet cable) high-speed internet.

“Really good location. Older hotel but well-kept. Super comfortable beds and good linens/towels. Room on the small side. No fridge but well designed and comfortable. The 10 $ fee for in-room internet was waived by the very helpful front-desk staff when I submitted my comments. Very good customer service. The cleaning staff on my floor was very friendly. Hotel is located in a safe area. And you can walk everywhere to see the major sites in Ottawa. Tim Horton's downstairs. And Starbucks around the corner.”

• Nothing worked in my room, bad service.

“When arriving the room was hot like a sauna, turned the AC to lowest temp, supposed to cool down in a few minutes. Cooling took until next morning, about 12 hours so I did not get any sleep. Shower didn't work properly, nor the toilet. There was no internet connection. Also the lock on the door could not be closed properly. So that room was a horror experience, I have seen far better motels, this is place. The manager on duty was not helpful at all and was not willing to give any kind of compensation except breakfast (at noon?). I strongly recommend avoiding this place!”

“Room was small, view was great, service was friendly, shower was great, and the remote for the TV was not working. It took two calls to get it replaced, (first guy did not show up after I was told he was on his way). Nice decor, not very romantic though. Clean, efficient but nothing special.”

• Downtown location was central for traveling.
• Parking was expensive and not close by.

“Overall, a good hotel if you want to be downtown. Only a block from Spark St. Mall, and a short walk to Parliament and some of the other downtown sights. Relatively easy access from the highway (assuming you can manage one-way streets). We were traveling to both the east and west ends of town, so this was a good central location for us. The hotel is getting older (and will need to be upgraded soon), but was in decent shape.”

“Overall this hotel was a huge disappointment. The internet is not available in rooms, the lobby and rooms are run down (paint chipping everywhere and scratches on everything floors dirty in hallways and in elevator) and have not been maintained, the rooms were dirty. (also the windows were disgusting) (i.e. cups not changed black smudges all over walls, dirty toilet etc) the phones were not working, the sink backed up. It was as if the cleaning staff and maintenance staff have been off for vacation for months and no one has bothered. Staff are very warm in providing dinner directions but not so much when you ask for a clean up.”

• It was downtown and the morning staff were great and friendly.
• No wireless internet.

“I suppose the weather affected our mood somewhat, but the three of us all had laptops and the fact that the hotel had no wireless internet was a big disappointment. I also had a hard time getting information and directions to a restaurant we wanted to go to. The staff were very busy, I understand, but I waited and waited for help and didn't get any. But they didn't charge us for the cot that we had ordered for the second night, and that was a redeeming act.”

“I was offered a smoking room with one queen bed when I had requested for a non smoking one with two beds. The air conditioner never worked, and when I reported this I was informed that they already knew it wasnt working. I was surprised that they would put me in a room where the equipment did not work. Disappointed on the whole.”
