“I like to think of the Lord Elgin as a home away from home. it is close to the downtown, excellent staff. A pleasure once again to be there.” Oct 22, 2009 by
Rosemary from Vankleek Hill,Canada
“Like many old hotels, the Lord Elgin was in a renovation cycle. We could not use the pool. The exercise facility was tiny but very clean. This was a great getaway for a weekend hotel. The room was quiet. We were comfortable.” Mar 9, 2009 by
Rona from Pointe-Claire,Canada
“I highly recommend this hotel, the location is ideal, the proximity to restaurants. The building itself is a reflection of the architecture of Ottawa which adds so much to its appeal. The customer service was fantastic, we were given side by side rooms with friends and were able to check in much earlier than usual check in time.” Sep 4, 2008 by
Maureen from Thunder Bay, ON CA
“The Lord Elgin is centrally located within walking distance of all the must see in Ottawa,---Parliament Hill, Sparks Street Mall, and the Arts Centre. The staff is excellent, friendly, courteous and caring. The building has that historic elegance that is one of the most attractive characteristics of Ottawa and the rooms are beautifully appointed.” Aug 25, 2008 by

“I was delighted to see the Lord Elgin, because despite it being a 3 star, I heard that this hotel is the third-best in Ottawa, behind only Chateau Laurier and the Westin. Upon arrival, I was not disappointed. The staff was very friendly and accommodating of our late night arrival. We were checked in quickly and were pleased with our clean, comfortable room. The furniture and finishing are top-rate and the room came with thoughtful touches such as a full-size umbrella, slippers and water bottles -- features that some 5-star hotels do not have. They're really going for the Grand Railway Hotel feel. My favorite thing about the room was the full-sized, non-glazed window in the bathroom! Our room, due to the hotel's age, was smaller in comparison to newer, Suburban hotels. However, this was not an issue because it was so comfortable.” Aug 23, 2008 by
Leona from London, ON CA
“Older but charming hotel with great service and location.” Jul 30, 2008 by
Tracy from Winnipeg, MB CA
“The hotel was amazing I would recommend to anyone. Great for travelers who have never had a true Canadian experience. All the attractions are right out your front door. You're welcomed to a parade right in front of the hotel every morning for the changing of the guards. Loved it and would go again in a heart beat!” Jul 26, 2008 by
Kem from London, ON CA
“This was my first experience and I was very pleasantly surprised. I have stayed there before and really liked the hotel. The issue I had with housekeeping I consider more amusing than aggravating. I just hope my wife understands (she was not with me at the time).” Jul 10, 2008 by
Abhay from Avenel, NJ
“I don't agree with rating of 3 star for this hotel. First of all rooms are very small and so is the Bathroom. They don't have minibar inside the room. Also they charge for internet (quite weird). Contrary staff was very good and hotel main lobby was pretty attractive. Location wise hotel is very convenient.” Jan 5, 2008 by
Rob from Orleans, ON CA
“Excellent choice hotel in the heart of downtown Ottawa that is next door to the business district and close to the market nightlife. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.” Dec 17, 2007 by
Dave from North Bay, ON CA
“The room was ok a little 'dated' but clean. Beds were comfortable but the noise throughout the night was brutal. Hopefully just a single incident but 'the walls were thin' with allot of late night activity. No wireless internet. Pay for internet.” Nov 11, 2007 by
Louis from Hamilton, ON CA
“Though the hotel was excellent in many respects, its policy of charging extra for little advantages such as internet access, mineral water, etc. makes the hotel appear cheap and makes guests feel they might be charged for all kinds of other things not necessarily mentioned. It would seem in the hotel's interest to include all such charges in the initial room rental rather than leave them as (potentially exorbitant) options: e.g. $4.00 for a small bottle of mineral water, $9.95/day (+tax) for internet access.” Hotel Representatives:
