• Disgusting lack of cleanliness at the pool -collection of band aids everywhere.

“Okay if you are a business person staying for a couple of nights. Located near many restaurants. We had to call twice and waited over an hour to get extra towels and our room was missing. Some of the amenities claimed to be in every room (coffee maker).”

• The location is perfect.
• The condition of swimming pool and hot tub are poor, very polluted and not clear. The hot tub is very weak.

“We are living in 10th floor, the hallway is smelly. Maybe because of the pets. The curtains and decoration of the room is good. I will recommend a friend to this hotel who don't like swimming and hot tub.”

• Very convenient to the 404 Highway and Steeles Avenue.
• Room was an odd design and smelled of smoke.

“This hotel is conveniently located at Hwy 404 and Steeles. Just a short drive to Metro Place Mall, T&T Supermarket and Pacific Place Mall. Also very convenient for the drive on the DVP Downtown. On the negative side the hotel check in was slow although to be fair the hotel was busy. The room (a Chimo Suite) was an odd design. The separate bedroom was large but the living room was small. Air conditioning/heating only in the bedroom. The most significant problem was that even though this was a non-smoking room on a non-smoking floor it was readily apparent that somebody had smoked in this room. Fortunately with the AC fan running full time it was just tolerable.”

• Location and the bed is very comfortable.
• The carpet needs to clean.

“I had stay in this hotel for couple times, but this time is the best. The room we have for times was quiet and the beds are very comfortable. The only thing I need to said is the carpet needs to be clean. Over all I am happy with the hotel.”

• They gave us a suite because we had little kids for free! And they cleaned whenever we called!
• They charged a lot for phone calls.

“Very convenient, clean, pretty hotel. They were so nice and kept cleaning and vacuuming for me. They had a business center which was awesome and a pool which was empty all day. We had a great time there!”

• In the middle of no where. Nothing is within walking distance.

“I expected a higher quality in the room. Had trouble with kids running up and down the hall and an alarm going on for 15 minutes in another guests room. Staff was friendly and helpful. Would not go back to hotel.”

“We didn't get a renovated room and it was quite dated. There was a chewed up piece of gum on the nightstand. We asked 2 rooms. But one room ended up being occupied by others. There was a safety pin in the pool when we entered. The staff was nice and parking was free. It seemed like a safe area. It was an ok hotel but nothing spectacular.”

• The bathroom seemed like it should be redone. The countertop was stained.

“Hotel itself is dated, but still classy. Rooms were definitely in need of "modernization". The A/C unit in the room was very noisy and squeaking and required "manipulation" to get quiet enough to sleep in. Staff is very nice and I wouldn't change a thing there. They are people I would expect to see in a nicer hotel. Such a shame that this hotel has not been updated.”

• Upon registration at arrival, the receptionist made a lot of errors during check-in.

“The rooms have been upgraded since my last stay 4 yrs ago. The bed and pillows were very clean and the bathroom was acceptable. However, the receptionist made too many errors during check-in. It took him 5 tries to get my name and address correct. I would not sign unless all information was correct, as it should have been the first time around.”

• The hotel staff was excellent.
• The room could have been a bit cleaner.

“My stay at this hotel was excellent, one of the best experiences I've ever had. From the beginning, the staff was polite and attentive. The room had plenty of space, and best of all, heavy blinds so I could sleep in! The beds and pillows were very comfortable. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.”

• The staff was very friendly, and it was very economical.
• Our room had garbage left under the bed by the previous occupants. We didn't notice until the morning - but could smell mold!

“Its a nice hotel, with a nice restaurant off the lobby. The pool is warm and clean. The cleaning staff needs to be retrained. We had a cleaning person come into our room at 9 am without knocking or anything! There was garbage under our bed it was pretty disgusting actually. The room would have been lovely had they cleaned it.”

• Clean and attractive facilities, friendly and knowledgeable service, free business centre with internet access.
• No fridge in room.

“Very satisfied with my stay in Markham's Holiday Inn. The service and facilities were those of a higher-star hotel. The location was excellent just five minutes from the BMO conference centre. Went downtown one night. The hotel has a free shuttle that takes you to the subway station. The trip downtown took about an hour. A cab back from Finch Station to the hotel was about $15 or $20.”

• One of the front desk team.
• Mold and dust in room, bugs, odors, peeling wallpaper, more.

“Disappointing. Holiday Inn and Suites title a poor representative with this hotel. Dirty walls, mold in fridge and bathroom, no option to change rooms, peeling wallpaper, dust bunnies under beds, a horrible experience. Due to Easter weekend all other local hotels sold out, weddings, etc.”

• The room was dirty; there were particles on the carpet.

“The staff in the chech in counter was nice. The swimming pool and the convenience to all the stores are the great point for this hotel. However, the room was dirty when we checked in. There were particles that I did not know what they were on the carpet. Instead of cleaning it the next following automatically like any other hotel, I had to call the front desk to have them clean the room the second day.”

• Convenient, pretty clean, decent rate, great staff, very polite.
• They need to change their beds in my room that I am saying. The beds are too loose and seems like they have bug bites.

“Overall, it is a decent hotel to stay with the family. In my personal opinion and my personal experience, I think they need to put in new mattresses. The ones we have in our rooms seems like it has been there for more than 10 years and we all feel itchy all night long. We have told the cleaning lady about that but we still feel itchy sleeping on those mattresses. Again this is only my personal opinion.”

• It was very quiet. The reception people were great.
• The linen was not changed and replaced. The housekeeping was not up to standard and one woman was extremely rude.

“The hotel is ideally located for access to any part of the city. The parking was excellent. The reception people were friendly and helpful. I did not use the dining room because it did not have any table cloths and this lead me to believe it was not a comfortable place to eat. I was particularly disappointed with the housekeeping as the linen were not changed and replaced and the housekeepers made me feel like I was there for their convenience they wanted to clean the room when I was there but didn't clean it when I was away. I was glad the room had a fridge. I would choose this hotel again.”
