• Comfortable, clean, good sized room, nice view of harbor.
• $18 parking fee, expensive in room refreshments, menu, and internet excess.

“Parking is expensive, and so is any food in the in room refreshment fridge. For more economical traveler I'd bid on a 3 star hotel that has free onsite parking. They charge $9.95 to get online, not good.”

• Very noisy. We were in a room above the party hall and had to hear it until 3:00 am.

“I was not happy with the room. The music boomed all night and the guests hung out on the terrace below us having a grand time. It was so loud they might as well have been in the room. Told front desk who said "sorry there was a wedding" and took of internet charge, big deal. Also, put us, a family of four in a room with one queen bed saying that's all they had so we had to rent a cot for two nights as well.”

• Location; great to get to lower water street. Close to farmer's market and wharf. Convenient grocery store next door.
• Noisy with very thin walls; we heard everything about our neighbors and couldn't sleep. Housekeeping is sloppy.

“A friend's wedding was at the Westin, making it very convenient for us. The hotel is close to Lower water street and is within walking distance to many restaurants, pubs, the ferry, and shopping. Although the concierge and front desk were friendly, housekeeping was sloppy (didn't replace soaps and coffee cups, dust on cabinet). Although newly renovated, the walls were very thin and we couldn't get a good night's sleep.”

• Location was close to most things and the waterfront.
• Could hear toilets flushing in other room and people walking above you.

• I liked the friendly staff, the attractive decor, the comfortable room, the wonderful shower and the hotel's locationn.
• The cost of overnight parking too high, $18 a night! Bathroom could have been cleaner especially around sink. Bottled water in room too espensive.

“Hotel is excellently situated in downtown Halifax. The rooms are quite luxurious with all the amenities (although I had to request a phone directory). Local phone calls are expensive ($1. a call!) I would have expected the bathroom to be spotless, but it wasn't quite as clean as it could be. Overnight parking is expensive. $18 a night! Staff is friendly and helpful. It was great to have two double beds in the room.”

• Most comfortable beds. Great staff, loved this hotel.

“Stayed at the Westin 2 times since discovering Priceline. First time there had a king size bed and a harbor view room. Second time around we had a room on the 10th floor and a card for 25% off at the restaurant. Can't ask for more! We highly recommend this hotel to anyone going to Halifax. Most comfortable beds!”

• Parking, room closet.

“Basically this is a great hotel. It was a bit difficult to find. The parking was not optimal. The lot (behind the hotel and difficult to find) was very full and we had to walk rather far to get into the hotel. The public areas and restaurant were great. The ultra modern aspect of the bathroom was not very safety conscious. The sink was high and had sharp, marble, right angle corners which were very close to the tub and toilet. If a person is large, or slightly off balance, they could have injuries. There was a walk in closet with safe. Nice---except that the light only went on when the door was open and the door would not stay open unless held or propped. It is easy to find yourself in a dark place!”

“The Westin Halifax is in a perfect location to start of the harbor front/board walk. Very accommodating staff - met or exceeded every request we made. Restaurant staff were over the top for accommodating.”

“Great hotel from the concierge to the front desk, everyone seemed happy to work there and proud of the location. My first room was still dirty, the front desk moved me immediately to a better clean room. Overall for the short stay I was very satisfied.”

• I really liked the location of this hotel! It was a very nice spot and I felt safe there as I was traveling alone.
• I think the staff could of been a little more helpful. There were a lot of extra fees for things which added up!

• Location.
• When I checked in they said my reservation was canceled, had to re-book in a room.

asked for 2 double beds, they gave me a pull out couch, they didn't have any parking anywhere, and made me park on the street where i had to feed the meter. Not happy at all.”

• Free kids’ club activities 7 hours daily. My kids loved it when they went.
• Charge $18/night for parking and charge for internet use in room.

“Loved this hotel. They were happy to accommodate us by moving us to a bigger room with a cot. Nice sized walk in closet. Enough room for me, my mom and my two small kids. Our kids loved the visits to the kids club with a counselor and lots of activities (Go to the playground, face painting, crafts, swimming, games) and all free! Pool is a little small but that did not bother my kids. Would definitely stay there again.”

“Worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Rooms are small and ugly. Items in the in-room honour bar were outdated by two years, glassware was dirty, and I was insulted by the cleaning staff. Also, we ran out of toilet paper and had to ask for more! Would never stay here again.”

• Expensive parking and lacking insulation. Noise was heard through the ceiling for hours. Water bottle was for $4.95.

• Great location, friendly staff, nice gym (for a hotel). Comedy club on site!
• Hotel was a bit older (dated). Definitely not a modern building. Parking was a bit pricey.

• The hotel was very clean.
• The treatment we received was horrible.

“We booked 2 rooms for ourselves and another couple and their 6 year old son a month in advance, 1 with 2 double beds and the other with a king bed. We phoned the hotel and requested adjoining rooms but they said that it wasn't possible. We then asked for rooms side by side and they said no problem. We also requested a crib in our room as well. When we arrived at the hotel, they told us that there were no 2 rooms even on the same floor, let alone side by side. We ended up on the 11th floor and the other couple with us were on the 5th floor, a huge inconvenience for us. When we went to the room at 6:30 in the evening, there was no crib in our room and we had to wait 2 hrs for a crib which came from another hotel and we had no where to out our little girl to bed until almost 9 o'clock. The other couple with us only had a queen bed in their room even though 2 double beds were requested a month in advance. When they called down for a cot, they were told that they weren't allowed to put a cot in that room. Funny thing is, I called down for a cot as well to see what they would say and they told me the same thing. Not sure what that is all about. So the other couple had to let their 6 year old son sleep in the bed with them, another huge inconvenience. The front desk workers were not accommodating whatsoever. Our experience with the Westin was horrible and ruined our trip. It was so bad that we had plan for 3 nights and we ended up leaving after 2 and we didn't even stay the 3rd night.”

• The atmosphere is very friendly and the rooms are extremely clean.
• I have nothing bad to say about this hotel.

“Had an excellent stay here. Room was clean. First room was a bit noisy (guests next door were very chatty and there was a door between rooms which allowed sound to travel) - we requested a quieter room which was done without fuss - new room was very secluded (king sized bed) and very quiet. Only complaint about this room was there was a small window without curtains so the morning sun brightened our room earlier than we would've liked. This was minor, and overall the stay was great. Buffet breakfast was a great deal and top-notch.”

• Wonderful room, very modern, beautiful colors, fantastic beds and innovative bathroom.
• 18.00 for parking is too much per day for location.

“A wonderful redone of an old Halifax classic hotel. The spacious lobbies are very nice. The halls are wide and the windows open. The rooms are very European with soothing modern colors - clean lines, very comfortable and functional. We were very pleased with our stay, and plan to stay there again.”

“First night was in a very small room with one small window that you could just barely reach. Air conditioner/exchanger not working - very stuffy. Second night moved to another larger room with air exchanger working and a larger window with view of Halifax Harbor.”
