• Overall, the hotel is comfortable, and not just for the Starwood Preferred Guest rooms.
• They don't register your car for parking in a timely manner, which results in unwanted parking tickets from the authority.

“Never had a problem with any stay at this hotel until the last trip. A 75 dollar parking ticket slapped on the windshield not 30 minutes after paying for parking at the front desk. Staff still took care of the problem well, taking it into account personally. otherwise, the service was great. The cot friends got for their room was just as comfortable as the beds, just a bit smaller. Great hotel, highly recommend.”

• The Westin has been one of the nicer hotels in Edmonton for many years, it has a stable reputation.
• The cost of parking should be included in hotel stays downtown, to compete with the rural ones.

• Hotel personnel had excellent service attitude.
• Valet parking extra, internet extra.

“Extremely clean and well laid out hotel rooms. There was a convention at the hotel yet we did not feel affected except for a longer wait for elevators to arrive. Internet service is extra - that should not be the case. Good central location if you need to be downtown. If you do not, then consider a hotel outside of city center where parking is not an extra cost of $28 and keep the money. The staff is extremely polite and exceptional levels of service are provided.”

• It was an amazing looking hotel, and seemed very upscale.
• There was no fridge or microwave in the room.

“The hotel met all expectations except for the microwave and fridge not being in the room. With a younger child, it's hard not to have these in the room. The hotel was gorgeous, and very attractive to the eye, parking would have been nicer if it was not an extra $26/ night. I wish it would have been complimentary.”

“It was a nice hotel but I don't think it was a 4 star. The elevators had litter in it and there wasn't even a morning paper delivered to my room. These little things are what I expect from a 4 star. But, for the price I paid, it was still worth it.”

• The service was great and the rooms were very nice.
• The valet guys are very rude and housekeeping showed up extremely early and then did not show up at all.

“Hotel is in a decent spot downtown, a little bit far from the West End Mall. Service was great and the people were very helpful. The rooms are very nice and the beds are extremely comfortable. Also, you can hear no noise in the hallway.”

• $26 night parking with expectation of tipping the parking many times a day.

“Business oriented hotel, downtown, centrally located, beautiful view if facing river. Very large rooms with a safe. Business colors, no frills, but professional looking. Includes Starbucks coffee in rooms! They gouge for internet ($11/day) so unless you're a rich executive on business, you may want to leave your laptop at home. They also hit hard on parking (26/day valet), and I had the distinct impression I was expected to tip on top of that every time I went in or out - no thanks, that was an unwanted pressure.”

• The rooms were nice and comfortable. Room service was friendly.

“Paying $24/day for parking was a joke.Access to interenet for $10.95 every 24 hourswas also a letdown. For the amount of money you spend to stay in a 4 Star Hotel this should all be included.The showers had no pressure at all, made for a long shower.”

• The beds are great, very comfortable - toiletries are best of any hotels, pool/sauna/gym stays open 24/7.
• Parking is very expensive.

“Great hotel, very friendly staff. Only hotel I have ever been to that has a 24 hour gym, pool, and sauna. Everything is of high quality in the room, LCD TV's, mini-bar. A downside is that the price of parking is very expensive ($25/day), and there is no free wireless internet, like some hotels. Overall though, very good hotel. Park in the library underground parking for cheaper parking! ($12/day).”

• Parking - had to park behind the hotel in surface lot even though my husband is handicapped.

“Room was comfortable. Ice maker outside room caused vibrations and noise in room all night, resulting in an unrestful sleep. Hotel parking was full before 9 pm so we had to park in a lot behind the hotel. Hotel staff did not inform us at check in that the streets would be closed for several hours the next morning for a parade. Lucky for us, we managed to get out before they closed the last street - a delay of several hours would have had a very negative impact on our plans.”

“My only complaint was there was no indication of a parking fee and the fee ($24/night) was not mentioned by the front desk staff when I checked in and gave them my plate number and vehicle info.”

• Central location, close to a variety of restaurants and shops. Clean room.
• Defective shower - had to change rooms. Limited hotel parkade parking.

“Returning to hotel after a late dinner, found the hotel indoor parkade was full and had to leave my vehicle in a nearby outdoor lot. Before retiring for the night attempted to shower and found it defective i.e. no water. Had to pack up and change rooms.”

• The hotel was clean, the pool was not crowded and stayed open, great fitness equip.
• I did not like the food prices-fine for business, not great for a family and parking is terrible.

“The hotel is beautiful and clean, with friendly attentive staff. This is a great choice for business travel! I would not stay here with teens again. There were really no youth friendly food options around the area and room service/onsite menu was much too expensive for a family of four. I would stay again for business travel or with a group of adults.”

• It was a nice, clean, quiet room.
• The restaurant was very expensive, and not very accessible to less expensive places to eat. Breakfast buffet was $22/person.

• Good location, the prestige name of Westin, helpful front desk staff (Day time ONLY).
• Service at the front desk in the evening is comparable to a Days Inn, Customers are just inconvenience.

“With the understanding that good employees are hard to find in the province of Alberta, the service of this Westin does not meet the standard of a four star rating. I would rate it as 3.5 stars. Very comfortable bed, good location, good size guest room, shower worked well, drainage was good. The carpet was not that clean, I could tell from walking on my white socks. Supplies (eg. shampoo, coffee cups) were not replenished properly. If the front desk clerk in the evening did not like his job, there are lots of other jobs in Alberta. The day time personnel are just day and night. Concierge person does not seem to know what's going on regarding shuttle bus.”

• Wonderful pool; it was extremely warm.
• Paper-thin walls; I could hear everything!

“Noisy doesn't begin to describe it. Some people down the hall decided to throw a loud party; this was broken up promptly by security when I complained. In the morning, members of the group holding the party were exceptionally rude to me, for which the hotel is partially at fault for because they should either have evicted them or not even placed them on my floor, which is supposed to only be given out to elite members of Starwood Preferred Guest. On a positive note, I really enjoyed the pool, which for some reason was about 97 degrees, meaning it was basically a huge hot tub in my opinion!”

“Though located Downtown near Jasper Avenue, the hotel is not connected to the Shaw conference center. The room was well appointed, modern and cleans as was the rest of the hotel that I saw. Apparently one of the hotel staff found a bottle of wine in the recycle bin and assumed it came from the mini bar. A quick phone call to the hotel manager rectified the error and guaranteed that Id never stay at a Westin again.”

“Stayed at this hotel for one night on Sept 15th for a wedding I attended. It was just across the street from the Hotel McDonald, which is much more expensive. The room was large, clean, modern, and very well decorated. The bathroom was big and the beds were comfortable. I asked for a higher floor, and was given a room on the 19th floor which had a great view of the river valley. I would stay here again and would recommend it.”

“I was very impressed with this hotel. It had amazing views of the river valley (upper floor) and our room was furnished with nice dark woods, white blankets and sheets, a wonderful bathroom, and an LCD TV mounted on the wall. Very nice!”

• The rooms and the plasma TV.
• No hot tub or Jacuzzi and separate steam rooms!

“The rooms were great but I have no idea how a 4 star hotel cannot have a big public hot tub. Every one of all ages wants to hit the hot tub when they stay at a hotel. That is ridiculous that one did not exist.”
