“I have stayed at this hotel numerous times before in the past 4 years and even once organized a 500 seat banquet here. Although the basic rooms at the Westin a few blocks down are nicer, the Hyatt has much more hospitable, courteous and knowledgeable staff that make a stay more enjoyable.”

• Gracious staff beautiful building beside public transit great pool.
• We would prefer 2 queens as opposed to 2 doubles.

“The Hyatt is a lovely hotel with all the amentias and attention to detail one would expect from a 4 star hotel. The pools and exercise room are excellent and the view of the train line (LRT) kept my kids occupied for 20 minutes while I read my book. The only 2 drawbacks are it is not linked to the plus 15 walkway (a very minor issue), and that it is a little closer to some homeless shelters then other hotels. That being said there were no issues when walking around after dark.”

“Rented a car from the airport, however, when I reached the Hyatt Calgary, there was no parking in the hotel or nearby. they did not care if I was staying there, just told me that no parking was available because they are very busy with Christmas dinners etc. it was the same next day, and they asked me to Park 5 blocks away in 15c weather. Totally unacceptable.”

• Friendly courteous staff, excellent facilities.
• For the Hyatt, I expected a cleaner room, without carpet stains and without dust bunnies.

“Very courteous staff, good facilities, good location downtown. Had all amenities I needed for my stay. For the Hyatt, I would expect a better kept room my room would be a satisfactory 3 star but, can't really complain that much minor point, but worth mentioning.”

• Was told the room was non smoking, but was not.

“Excellent location and very nice rooms. We were on the 9th floor and it was very quiet, to my surprise. Excellent views. We were told that we had a non smoking room on a smoking floor, but that was not the case. Good staff.”

“Lovely hotel in downtown Calgary. The duvet and pillows was feather filled. Anyone with an allergy to feathers should request polyester pillows and duvet. The food is expensive and not that great in quality.”

• Very comfortable in the heart of downtown.
• Our room had some stains on the floor which is out of character for a Hyatt and parking garage was always almost full.

“Hyatt regency Calgary is an amazing hotel in the heart of Calgary. The hotel is conveniently located downtown on Stevens avenue mall which is filled with 3 blocks of shops, cafes and restaurants. The hotel is very nice and the rooms are just simply amazing!”

• The location and staff were awesome. They actually made my stay more fun!
• Room service after midnight was very limited and still was quite expensive for pre made food

• Lovely place. Had a great room and huge bathroom!
• Hard to locate due to one-way streets nearby.

“I had a large corner room with a lovely view, and the bathroom was large enough to turn around in! One criticism is that access to the internet was not free. Lesser "star-ratings" hotels I stayed at on this trip did not charge $12.95 for 24 hours of service. It seemed a bit odd that a 4-star hotel would charge an extra fee for something everyone seems to need these days. Otherwise the hotel more than met our expectations.”

• The best location in Calgary. Clean. Beautifully appointed. Respectful staff. Great smelling soaps.
• No improvements necessary. The Hyatt is fabulous.

“The Hyatt provides a top-notch vacation experience. With the best location in Calgary, this hotel is situated along Stephen's Ave (a pedestrians only street which is lined with fine shops and restaurants). The room was beautifully appointed and very clean. Staff were excellent. Lastly, they had the nicest smelling soaps and shampoos of any hotel I have ever visited.”

• We liked the lay out and restaurant/lounge.
• The cost of parking our rental car was around $22.00.

• Very comfortable beds & very clean & comfortable washrooms.
• Parking at the hotel is expensive.

“The hotel was beautiful and the staff were total professionals and very helpful. I was a little shocked at the additional charges such as parking for $32, internet @ $12.95/day, local calls @ $1.00/call, and I am sure there were extra services for fee that were available as well. Overall, it's a beautiful hotel and I would probably stay there again but for special purposes only, not business though.”

• Convenience the seminar I was attending was in the hotel.
• There was no shuttle to and from the airport.

“We stayed at this hotel for eight days. We ate at two of the restaurants which were both good. We found that the fitness facilities were excellent. The whirlpool jets did not work. The negative was the cost of parking & the cost of internet.”

• Great hotel, art work is fabulous, like being in an art gallery. Staff wonderful.
• Excellent location but on the fringe of the seedy part of town, which is now in transformation.

• Front desk staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
• No outdoor pool or garden - nowhere to sit outside apart from the bar on the street.

“Centrally located in downtown Calgary. Rooms were quiet and comfortable, though not spacious. Bathroom well equipped and clean. Great water pressure in the shower! The hotel entrance is in the Western theme which follows through into the ground floor lounge and bar. Bar serves good snack meals in comfortable informal surroundings. Restaurant features buffet breakfast, plus lunch and dinner (not tried). Underground Parking - Valet service available. ”

• Parking is pricey, but it is underground and heated.

“We were very pleased with this hotel. It lived up to the 4 star rating. The room service was great, as was the fitness center. The room was nicely sized, very clean and the beds comfortable. Great views of downtown & of the mountains in the distance from our room.”

• Great location and pretty helpful staff.
• Room wasn't properly climate controlled via thermostat.

“While the hotel was in a good location and the staff was very good, all of the positives were offset by the fact that my room was freezing and I prefer cooler environments compared to stuffy heated rooms. I asked the front desk to connect with a technician to fix the heating but that night, it was cold again in the room. Ended up sleeping well, but after my second day there had a terrible cold.”

“Very dissapointing. It is hard to believe that this hotel would EVER rate a 3 star rating. Very dirty. The non-smoking room smelled horrible of cigarette smoke. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.”

• Exceptional courtesy by the entire hotel staff.
• Room was comfortable but nothing special.

“The amenities in the hotel were excellent. Outstanding staff in all areas. Very convenient downtown location. The room was well supplied with robes, hair dryer, iron, shampoo, conditioner, lotion. Typically high priced for a downtown hotel in terms of parking, mini-bar and phone service.”

• newer building and awesome location
• nothing special about the hotel or room to warrant the 4 star rating or price.

“This is a very nice hotel, but I'm not sure why it's rated with 4 stars when its neighbour, the Marriott, is only 3. I had the pleasure of staying at both on this visit. The Marriott has larger, better appointed and rooms, a bigger lobby and a Starbucks in the foyer. What more could you want? The rest of the facilities are comparable. I'd go for the 3 star Marriott before the 4 star Hyatt in Calgary anytime. In reality, both should be 3 or 3 1/2 stars.”

“Room was a good size, and a good value. Pool and hot tub was nice, and the hotel is centrally located for easy walking to major areas of the city. Parking was pricey - $16 CAD per day. Staff was courteous.”

• Location in the heart of downtown Calgary within walking distance to shopping, restaurants, the performance arts center, and public transportation.
• Access to the internet via a personal laptop, but no PC to use for those without one.

“Located in the heart of cosmopolitan downtown Calgary, the Hyatt Regency Calgary is a hotel that pampers you with it's many amenities from its full service spa to its fabulous restaurant, friendly/helpful staff, stunning decor, and even personal bathrobes to wear to the pool and hot tub. It's steps away from downtown shopping, restaurants, and arts activities---including a performance arts center and the distinguished Calgary museum. Highly recommended for a luxurious evening out.”

• The concierge was extremely helpful.
• Hotel was great, but Calgary is not child friendly.

“The hotel was perfectly located to see the city. My problem was the City of Calgary discriminates against children. We could not find a single restaurant that would serve us (I had my 5 yr. old grandson with us). They all cited the policy against allowing minors where there is smoking - of course no one discriminates against the smokers who are killing themselves and everyone around them!We ate at McDonald's the entire time we were there.”

• Wonderful bed, wonderful pool/steam/workout room, extremely accomodating staff. Very much enjoyed our stay here.
• stained carpet in our room as well as one of the bedspreads.

“Parking attendent right off the bat was super friendly, we self parked at a cost of 14.00 cdn !Check-in was speedy,we requested 2 queen beds with no problem, and given 20th floor room with a wonderful view( there are only 21 floors).The room was nice but a stain on the carpet outside the bathroom was very noticeable. The beds were very cozy but again...what looked like an "oil/grease" stain was on the comforter.We were supplied with 2 bathrobes which pleased us ! A bowl of candy sat on the desk which I thought was a very nice touch as well as turn down service with chocolates and water by bed. Wonderful exercise/pool/steam room that we used and the concierge stored our bags so we could eat brunch upon checkout. We had quick checkout but we stopped by the desk to settle our mini bar charges.Brunch in the hotel was excellent and very reasonably priced at 17.50 per person.In all..I'd definitely stay at the Hyatt again for the service alone, but all was very lovely.”

“The hotel that we stayed at for the last night of our honeymoon was great. Extremely friendly service, safe underground parking and within walking distance to great attractions. The room had a beautiful view and was nicely decorated. We got what we were expecting from a 4 star hotel plus more!”

“Excellent hotel. Drove from Edmonton to stay one night for a Hilary Duff concert with 9 yr. old daughter. Staff were excellent. Hilary Duff was also staying there and we got to meet her (as we were also guests of this property).”
