“The restaurant had extremely slow service and odd food choices on the menu there was a coin operated laundry facility with one washer and one dryer, in the parking garage under the hotel.”

• The room was large and there was a restaurant & liquor store.
• The room wasn't clean and the carpets stained. It took asking 4 times. They didn't honor their hospitality promise.

“There was gunge around the sink faucets, the hair dryer was dirty and there were a number of stains on the carpet. what a let down. I reported the problem to the desk the 1st thing in the morning. when I returned to my room that afternoon it still wasn't handled. I asked housekeeping and they said they'd talk to the desk. That evening it still wasn't handled. The next morning I talked to housekeeping and the desk and some time that day they took care of it. The lobby carpet is stained, there is a dirty tray under the ice machine, etc. the staff obviously wasn't service oriented. I would never stay there again!”

“Not recommended for close proximity to Victoria Harbor. Rooms were ok but really needed a lot of upgrading. We would not return there. Very disappointed with this place.”

• It was close to shopping, and major roadways.
• We did not find the lobby internet area private, and could not find ice machines., awakened both nights by loud people in parking lot below us.

“For a quick overnight or two this is an adequate hotel, noting a scenic area or with a lot of Old Victoria atmosphere. I would not choose to be at this hotel over others around the inner harbor, but yet it suited what we needed for our particular stay, which was more for business purposes.”

• Poor location, loud rooms no insulation, poor lighting and plumbing.

“It is a one star at best and is not in the downtown area? The rooms are small and you hear all of your neighbors too well, no insulation in the walls. The lighting and plumbing in the bathroom were poor. There was a wedding held in a conference room and guests were up until 2 am making terrible noise near our room. Staff would not do anything but ask them to be quiet and then no follow through to stop the noise.”

• It was close to a mall.
• They did not allow kids to use the hot tub as it was in the fitness facility, big disappointment for the kids.

“This was a ok hotel. It had crappy carpets in the hallway, and the tap in the bathroom needed repairing (would turn on taps for warm water but then the cold would slowly shut off on it's own, and with eyes closed, washing face, would get burned with hot water)! The toilet also ran on and on. There was no pool, and the hot tub was only to be used by adults, which you had to go all the way down to the front desk to get a key to use it. Had underground parking but was told that they didn't recommend using it. Free parking outside hotel however.”

• Located about 2 miles from Downtown, the Holiday Inn is a clean and adequate. Free parking is a bonus, but the facilities are not special.
• Far away from Victoria.

“The hotel is pretty expensive, considering the same amount of money spent on a hotel in Vancouver can purchase a much nicer place. However, the Holiday Inn was clean and was an adequate place to stay, but fairly far from Downtown, so using a car or bus is necessary.”

• The front desk staff was very friendly.
• The location was not near any attractions in Victoria, and the room was extremely small.

“The location of the hotel was over a mile from any Victoria attractions. The room only had one queen bed, and was barely big enough for that. This was not on par with what I would consider a 3 star hotel. It should be noted that the front desk staff was very friendly, as well as the staff in the hotel restaurant.”

“We arrived late and the night staff seemed inconvenienced with our arrival. He was not friendly or helpful. The room was fine. The bath tub wouldn't drain but we were leaving the next morning so we couldnt really complain to have it fixed.”

• Location was close to shopping, bus route and restaurants.
• There is no swimming pool at this hotel.

“The hotel is well located in a good area of Victoria. The hotel is situated less than a.5 minute walk of the Mayfair Mall in Victoria. The Mayfair Mall is the largest mall in the city. The hotel does not have a pool, but has a hot tub restricted to patrons over the age of 18. There is a restaurant in the hotel and if you are traveling with kids and stay at this hotel your kids eat for free. The room itself was well sized with a king sized bed, desk, hutch, cable TV. Bathroom has hair dryer, sink, toilet and a combination tub shower. Room was clean and quiet. There are renovations ongoing at this hotel but none going one during the weekend of our stay. Some cosmetic issues in the hallways that are being upgraded. Staff was very friendly and provided a cot at no charge. Cot was in the room by the time we got to the room from the front desk. The hotel is divided into two separate buildings although we were not in the other building. A good hotel in the Victoria area.”

“While not centrally located (10-12 minute drive to centre) but located to BC Ferry service, this property exceeded expectations. A faulty AC unit was resolved with an efficient room change to more suitable accommodations without question. Friendly and congenial staff at the front desk and eating establishments made for a relaxing atmosphere. Lobby/rooms and exterior all clean and well maintained. A wine and beer store conjoined to the hotel made all the difference.”

• Stains on carpet, old linen and bedspreads, charge for using hotel computer 3.00 per 15 minutes.

“The hotel is under renovations. The room we had faced the top of the roof where workmen were all day. They were painting on top of room The rug had stains on it. There was a cost to use in house computer 3.00 dollar per 15 minutes. The room number was on the floor with broken plaster and wallpaper in disrepair.”

• A/C leaked all over the floor and soaked my goods.

“Overall, okay. Blinds were see-through, so people can see through the windows at any time. We placed a bed sheet over the window to mitigate transparency. Leaky A/C was a downer when it soaked my leather bag. Staff was friendly, but I would look for a different hotel.”

“The hotel was comfortable and rooms were clean. The staff seemed friendly enough. The common areas and restaurants/pub were plain and boring. This is a great place to spend a night if you are planning only sleep there. There is not much of an experience to be had. But what do you really expect from Holiday Inn?”

“Pretty much what I expected for a Holiday Inn. It was nice, but fairly cookie-cutter. Nothing special, but clean and generally well maintained. The staff was great and went out of their way to help with anything we needed.”

“It's a 2! It has basic amenities, but that's about all. There is nothing close by, so don't stay here if you won't have a car. It's worth it to pay a little more to be close by downtown.”

“There are better hotels that cost less than this hotel closer to the Harbour. This hotel room was bad enough that we checked out within the hour. The room and location were bad enough that we went to another hotel close to the inner Harbour.”

• Location should be included in the "Down Town" map. It took a bus or taxi to get to old town Victoria. 90 minutes or more of walking necessary.

“The hotel was very professional. The Desk Manager Xavier went above the call of duty. I would highly recommend this hotel to my employer for any future business travel that may occur in the future. The room was very comfortable and the food was very good.”

• It was reasonably close to downtown Victoria. The staff was helpful and the facilities were nice and clean.
• While I think I paid fair value for the hotel, it wasn't significantly less expensive.

“Overall, the hotel experience was good. The room was clean and well-kept. Staff was friendly. While I think I paid a fair value for the hotel that matched our request, it wasn't as good a deal as I had imagined.”
