• Staff made you feel valued as a customer and the experience was pleasant from beginning to end.
• Pillows too hard even though there were many to choose from.

• Over all it looked good.
• Hairs all over bathroom floor.

“Staff didn't seem to want to be there and didn't make me feel very welcomed. The bathroom was not cleaned, many different hairs on floor. Our room was first room by elevator and very noisy.”

• Free wireless, location.
• Not 3star, very poor quality.

“The courtyard is a bare-bones 2star hotel with minimal services. The staff are abrupt and rude. They charge $18 for parking regardless if you use it, and do not inform you of this charge until checkout.”

• Walking distance to Byward Market, Parliament and good restaurants.
• It was perfect.

“There is no better place to stay in Ottawa for a relatively moderate price that is clean, reputable and friendly and in the heart of the action. Check out the Murray Street Restaurant.”

• The room was very clean and comfortable.
• Parking is a little expensive.

“Courtyard by Marriott in Ottawa is very close to the Byward Market so there are lots of shops and restaurants within close walking distance. It's also an easy walk to the Parliament area and Rideau Center. The room was fairly quiet, very clean, and the staff was nicely accommodating.”

• I have stayed at 4* hotels in Ottawa 4 Xs, never again. This were superior.
• Nothing.

“Comfy beds. Great breakfast. Location. The rooms were large, with queen beds. Excellent in every way. Loved my stay and hated to move hotels to the regular Marriott.”

• The Best Location in Ottawa. Very Courteous and Helpful Staff.
• Bit too march starch on the towels.

“The Courtyard Marriott in Ottawa is in the centre of the by ward market area - very nice if your interested in the nightlife. Its a short walk home from the pub, close to shopping and the canal and a short walk to Parliament. The staff was very helpful and the free internet access made the small amount of work I needed to do our first morning fairly easy. Rooms are clean and nicely kept.”

• Great location, nice pool and hot tub, great staff.
• A little bit of noise in the hallway - but that's more just luck then anything to do with the hotel.

No free breakfast (only $15ish buffet). $15 parking is annoying, but I guess to be expected for the location.”

• Paper thin walls. The proof is that they provide ear plugs in a little package by the bed. Heard the neighbors, the street.

• Excellent location, large and well appointed rooms with helpful staff.
• We had inner facing room as we believe the street facing rooms can be noisy at weekends.

“Great central location downtown near market with many good eating places. Hotel rooms are large and well appointed but suggest you ask for inner facing room to avoid street noise. Staff was extremely helpful and there is small indoor pool with Jacuzzi to help unwind. Would not hesitate recommend and stay there again in the future.”

• The whole hotel is "non-smoking".
• Cost for parking and breakfast.

“The hotel was at a very convenient location at downtown Ottawa, within walking distances to attractions. But I guess this charge for parking is common at most hotels in that area. The breakfast is good and worth the cost if you choose the "hot courtyard buffet" which includes cereals, egg omelet in any fashion you want, fried potatoes, yogurt, waffles, toast etc. But it is expensive if you want to have a light breakfast ("continental buffet") which includes just cereals and yogurt and the toast. But overall, the hotel was very convenient and comfortable.”

“The Marriott Courtyard is in an ideal location for exploring the Byward Market, Parliament Buildings and downtown Ottawa. The staffs were very helpful. The room was clean and comfortable with a king size bed and comfortable chair with ottoman for relaxing. Free internet connection and a desk for the computer were great. The room was very quiet as we were on the inside court. Breakfast was convenient with a buffet providing many choices. We would definitely return to the Marriott Courtyard.”

I did not go around other hotels to compare, however, it certainly was exceptional with a huge selection of fresh fruits, meals prepared fresh in front of you (pancakes, omelet, etc.), and more.”

• Location was right in the market. Convenient, but noisy!
• The smell of the room. The quality of the room. Staff wasnt accommodating.

“Terrible stay. Location was good, but we had a terrible room. The room smelled like urine and was too small to accommodate a cot. (Staff would not let us even rent one) I wouldn't stay at this hotel again. Parking was $9.50/night, something I would expect to pay at a 4* hotel, not 2.5*. Not impressed!”

• Hot water wasn't working properly.

“I was traveling with my 18 year old son and requested two beds. When I arrived, not only did we not get two beds, there was not even a cot available that we could use. On top of that, the hot water heater was having problems, so the shower was only Luke warm. They were completely sold out, so we couldn't change. Other than that, the hotel was nice and the location was fabulous.”

“Our stay at the courtyard by Marriott in Ottawa was great. The staff was outstanding and tended to every request quickly. Its location is very close to the byword market, and an easy walk to idea center and parliament hill. An overnight parking fee was charged (common in Ottawa), and they also charged for local calls. They were able to put a small fridge and microwave in our room during the stay. Overall, it was a very good experience.”

• Not overwhelming, but can hear noise from bars at night.

“The hotel is only three stories and is not too fancy, but it is in a fun location right next to Byword market. The noise from the bars can be heard at night, but it is not overwhelming. A good choice if you are looking for convenience to shopping, restaurants, and nightlife and do not need complete silence to sleep.”

• The fire alarm went off (false alarm) at 3:30 Saturday morning and there was nothing said to us by staff.

“Overall, a nice place to stay. Right in the heart of all the action in the Byword market. Would have been nice if the next day, after the fire alarm went off at 3:30 am if there was some acknowledgement by hotel staff that this was an issue. Maybe a voucher, discount, even an apology on my bill would have been something.”
