• Clean room & linens.
• Expensive parking, large uncomfortable pillows (personal preference).

“Although parking was expensive (~$20 over night), we did stay at a prime location Downtown Edmonton. Hotel staff upgraded us to a larger room at no extra charge despite reservations through Priceline. Very clean room and linens, but disliked the layout of the washroom. Big, no counters and just a small ledge to place toiletries/ cosmetics/ clothes. Otherwise, great hotel. Good choice for the price.”

• The icebox.
• There was no swimming pool or gym, parking is way overpriced, and no flat screen TV.

“All you paying for is the name, there is no swimming pool or gym and no flat screen TV, parking is ridiculous. it costs 30 a night outside and 22 for valet, at the coast hotel down the street parking is 10 bucks.”

• Location, friendliness, and comfort level.
• Parking was a private lot, it was 12 dollars more than a lot 4 blocks away run by the same company.

“This hotel is located on the a ridge overlooking a river valley, the staff is very accommodating and friendly. The rooms are spacious and clean, there is no pool or spa which is unfortunate.”

• This hotel is old, but the service is 5-star!

“The bathroom light happened to burn out 2 am in the morning when we came back. I called the front desk to complaint; they have the manager on duty to replace it less than 5 minutes. This is 2am in the morning! Great service!”

“According to the price they do not provide the services they should ,and for everything they charge you extra for parking.
Breakfast which most of the hotel have it complimentary. Simply it was expensive.”

• Convenient location for convention center.
• Poor cleaning - uninformed staff at desk.

“The hotel is right on the edge of a cliff overlooking the river valley with spectacular views. Some of the rooms are conventional and some are very large but unusual, with the closet in the washroom. The floor in my room was never cleaned properly and litter from the previous guest was not removed in three days. The public spaces and halls are a bit worn. Downtown Edmonton has very little that is attractive and there are many panhandlers and drunks in the area near the front of the hotel. It is not up to the usual Marriott standard but still is very good and I would stay there again as it is as good as anything in the area and with the best views. An excellent value and a very high 2.5*, could be 3* with better cleaning and some repairs.”

• Free internet. And awesome view from the restaurant in the lobby.
• The view from my room looked like I was in a prison or cage.

“It wasnt hard to find parking - but it was hard to decide which one belongs to the hotel! The absence of a valet person outside of the hotel didn't help my case. The entire '15-minute valet parking' were all taken, so I did not know where to put my car. Add that to the 'you dont look like you can pay for this room so Ill just ignore you' attitude of the front staff made it all so frustrating. Bathtub wasn't draining too well so it floods every time I would take a shower. I like the free internet though - rare complimentary amenity for Marriott hotels.”

• The view from the backside of hotel is very nice.
• Parking was valet only and not included in price.

“The rooms were smaller than traditional rooms with a European feel to them. The location is good if at the Convention Center but not the easiest to get to the outskirts of town. Very good service though.”

“The staff truly exhibited the western friendly hospitality. The hotel is well located, close to shopping, food and in a safe area. The room was on the smaller size, but had all the necessities including a good bed.”

“It is right downtown so it was easy to get around. The beds were very comfortable. I did have problems at the front desk with both checking in and checking out. Great place to stay for short business travels but not so good for long stays.”

• Valet parking.

“Everything was great with this hotel with the exception of the parking. Parking with the valet is required unless you want to park off-site. I wouldn't have minded paying the $18 for the valet parking per day, but it was terribly slow and unorganized, and always took 10-15 minutes to the car which was parked in a lot not more than 150 feet away. They need to allow self parking that is still billed through the hotel.”

“I paid $18.50 per day to park my vehicle while I was staying at the hotel. They have no security and my vehicle was broken into. Items were stolen from the back of my truck and I know sure the alarm system was ignored. For this reason I would never stay at this hotel again, nor would I recommend it to anyone else.”

“I loved the room I received. Very spacious, clean and comfortable. Loved the free internet and laser printing. Downside is the cramped lobby space and insufficient parking spaces. Location also not good relative to other Downtown hotels. There are no convenience stores nor pharmacies nor restaurants nearby. Also near the Skid Row part of Downtown. But hotel does great job keeping patrons safe as security appears to be top notch.”

“This hotel was clean, beds were very comfortable, was in a convenient Downtown location with a lovely view of the river. One thing I always find a problem in hotels it is always hard to find an electrical outlets, this hotel room had the most I ever seen! Which is great especially for ladies who have electric hair products?”

• The front desk people are superb and the views.
• The very salty soup and the dining staff that did nothing about it.

“Perhaps because it was Thursday, or maybe a little slow, it could be that it was valentines day and I was all my lonesome, and they took pity on me, for whatever reason, the front desk upgraded me to a wonderful corner room with a panoramic view in both directions. During the day the sun streamed through the wall of windows overlooking the river valley and by night these same windows twinkled with the lights of the south side. The dining room and lounge overlook the river valley and provide a great space for leisure dining. The waiter I could probably use a refresher course on dealing with a major food complaint, but that was the only downside to my stay. This space was recently converted from an office building so the hotel has numerous room layouts and sizes, and the appointments are all still quite new and crisp. The hotel is well situated next to the Convention Centre and an easy walk to shopping and entertainment. I would stay there again, in a flash and have already recommended it to several people.”

• The large size of the room and the super river view from two sides of the room. Price!
• A parking charge/valet parking.

“I did not know this hotel existed. It is tucked in behind etc. But as a result gets a fantastic view. We will use this hotel in the future as we found it was with in walking distance of our business appointment at Scotia bank and made it possible to drive to the royal Alexander hospital for an appointment.”

“I arrived early and the clerk made me wait until it was exact time for check in. normally any hotel I have ever stayed in has expedited the process of getting the room ready if there is an early check in. ordered pizza from room service and it was horrible. I asked for salt, pepper and ketchup and after 20 minutes no one showed up. I called reception and asked them to take away the pizza as I had no interest in it anymore. I was offered a complimentary breakfast but I refused it based on the poor level of service. Very disappointing.”

• The hotel room was beautiful - nice furnishings, comfortable beds.
• The buffet breakfast was not as high quality as one would hope for the price. Parking was an issue.

“I would definitely stay at this hotel again. It was comfortable and convenient. The staff were friendly. Parking is a bit of an issue - you are forced to use Valet if there is no room in the In Park lot next to the hotel - an $18.50 per day charge.”

• Not a typical hotel configuration, rooms are very strangely laid out. No free parking.

“Great hotel for a traveler that just needs a clean place to stay. However this place seems more like a office building renovated into a hotel, so the room configurations are quite odd. Otherwise this hotel is conveniently located in downtown Edmonton.”

• The hotel was very clean and the staff were very punctual to our requests.
• It did not have a pool.

“It is in a great downtown location, with lots of restaurants and shops near-by. The hotel sits on the river and has nice views. The staff was very punctual at meeting our two requests (room change and backed up toilet). Very clean and tidy.”
