  • Close to Light Rail Transit.
  • A bit dirty (ventilators) fixed up but still low class, a lot of scary people, one tried to get in our room and that scared us.

“Need more locks on doors. Some fixtures damaged.”

  • Staff was very nice.
  • Buffet breakfast was very expensive with little selection and food was in short supply and was not hot. It was very cold in the restaurant.

“The room was nice and clean and spacious although needs to be redecorated. eg. old plywood cabinets. The restaurant was very cold and quite expensive. There is an extra charge for parking and the lobby area is very congested inside and out. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Our stay was nice.”

  • Entry to parking was confusing and parking elevators not great.

  • Loved having a kitchenette. Free daily paper, bottled water, local calls and wireless internet in every room.
  • Nothing really.

“Great centrally located spacious hotel. I really appreciated the business friendly aspects of the hotel without the nickel and dimming you get at many other business hotels. Highly recommended.”

  • Good location, nice views, large rooms
  • It's a little dated, butthey are improving a lot of areas.

“I love this hotel. It is the second time I was successful bidding and getting it. It has a decent gym, reasonable parking$10/day and is right down town. The area is perfect for walking/jogging with challenging outdoor stair climbs of a 1000 steps. The hotel is an old condo building that has been converted into a hotel. Both times my room was a suite/ living room and kitchen. great for meetings.”

  • Spacious rooms, good view but I would have preferred a sunny room but did not feel comfortable asking to move or change rooms.
  • The bedding was very dated, the bathroom was in a the bedroom and there were no mirrors.

“The hotel was pleasant and the staff polite, my sister loved it, and it was a little nicer than I thought it would be for a 3 star rating, the view and location were exceptional. I would love to get try a 4 star next time since this choice was really nice, because I really enjoy fancy hotels and love my little getaways when I can take one. Thank you very much.”

  • Excellent location and kitchenette.
  • Non-smoking.

“This hotel is close to everything you may want to see in Edmonton without a car. Buses are close by room had a kitchenette so was not at the mercy of the restaurant. Was like having your own apartment even for a short while. For the young leisure travel with not a lot of cash, this place wins, hands down.”

  • Staff friendliness and very accommodating.
  • Parking was expensive. Trips to parkade were dingy.

“Excellent service. All facilities are clean. Separate bedroom and kitchen facilities provide several choices for eating and resting. Wireless internet service is excellent and included in room cost. A swimming pool and weight room are excellent accessories. I would stay there again and would recommend it for other seniors who are looking for accommodation in downtown Edmonton.”

  • Love the little suite. Kitchen, living room and bedroom.
  • Could not get the heat higher than 60 degrees all night and it was a cold night!

“When we checked in, they told us that they had been having heating problems so we didn't call and complain about the cold room. When we mentioned it at checkout, they asked us if we reported it during the night. We said no, because of the comment about boiler/heating problems. We just added another blanket and rolled over! Other than the lack of heat, we liked the hotel a lot!”

  • I liked that the hotel had a kitchen and a balcony. Both were nice little "extras" that we didn't expect. The room was clean and comfortable.
  • This hotel was not easily accessible when trying to locate it based on its address. The entrance is on another street.

“We would certainly stay here again.”

  • We had a suite with a kitchen.
  • The bedroom had 2 single beds.

“We had stayed at this hotel many years ago. It was like visiting an old friend. The hotel is under renovation but the room was clean and we especially liked that it was a suite. My husband could go to bed and I could watch TV and use the free Wi-Fi internet without disturbing him. If we had stayed longer we could have used the kitchen facilities. Overall we were very pleased with the hotel and the price was great for a hotel in the downtown area.”

  • The staff are very couteous. Go out of their way to satisfy your needs.
  • The parking fee is always different. Sometimes there is a fee and sometimes there isn't.

“The staff here is very friendly and courteous. The down side is that the pool was closed, once I was charged a 25$ fee for not showing proper parking pass. I was not told there had to be. They did take down my license plate and i thought that was it. This time I was told its $9 a night per vehicle. They could also get a good stain remover for their chairs and sofas.”

  • Suites provided a lot of amenities that are not always available in a hotel.
  • The parking was $8 + taxes extra per day!

“The facilities are lovely and the staff very helpful. The pricing is deceptive when they charge $8.00 plus taxes extra per day for parking. I've never had to pay extra for parking and I was not impressed.”

  • Large room, very clean.
  • Needs renovations and the elevators are noisy at night kept us up.

“I liked the design of the hotel, it was easy to get from the parking to the room etc,but there was no info in the room on if there was a pool, restaurant or other amenities in the hotel. As a result we went elsewhere to eat and for relaxation. The beds were two singles and as a couple we would have expected a room with a queen etc. Also it was very cold- we turned the thermostat up to 80 but it remained cold . I definitely would not recommend this hotel to anyone.”

  • I loved that I had a full kitchen at this hotel, along with a separate bedroom. It felt like I had a small apartment all to myself.
  • The room was freezing! I called the front desk and report the problem a someone from security came up to turn up the heat (the knob was broken).

“Even though the thermostat was turn up fully, it still didn't get warm in my room. I was so cold. I got my statement slipped under my door the next morning.”

Overall Rating: 5 User Rating Score: 5
Cleanliness:[7] • Staff:[3] • Location:[7]

  • The full kitchen was great and the fitness room was well equipped.
  • The front desk staff was stand-offish and not friendly at all.

“The good: The full kitchen was very useful for those who want to save money on meals. The fitness room was very well equipped for a hotel fitness room. The cleaning staff I encountered during my staff was very friendly and polite. The bad: For some reason the bed was extremely full of static. I was zapped by the static basically every few minutes and that made it really hard to sleep. I understand the air can be very dry in Alberta winters but I have stayed at many other hotels in Alberta during winters and this is the first time I have encountered this issue. The front desk staff I encountered when I checked in was not very friendly. As I have heard someone once said, "I am paying for the room so smiles should be free!"”

  • Spacious rooms.
  • No cookware or, utensils or flatware in kitchen.

“This hotel filled out needs because we went out for meals but for anyone booking there who plans to cook meals it's basically impossible without cookware, utensils or flatware. The location is right downtown and is well-suited for business travel. The renovated rooms are nice but the others definitely need freshening up.”

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[7] • Location:[6]

  • Great rooms, great view, relatively inexpensive, includes parking.
  • Far from Whyte Ave., and its good bars and restaurants.

“I stay at Edmonton House every time I come to Edmonton. The suites are terrific. A nice break from the tiny hotel rooms one usually gets. Front desk service is friendly and the restaurant is surprisingly quite good. Parking is included in the hotel's underground lot, and the location is right in the heart of downtown. The views, especially from the upper suites, are impressive. Try to get a river-valley view, though.”
