“This is a nice business hotel in the Western part of Vienna. Although it is not centrally located in the city, the hotel is nicely decorated with good amenities.”

• Extremely convenient to public transportation.
• Breakfast buffets were very expensive.

“We found the front desk staff to be extremely nice and helpful. Our room was lovely although there were no drawers to put clothes in, so that may be somewhat problematic if you are staying for more than several days. The bed was very comfortable and we heard very little hallway noise. Overall, we thought, we would be very happy to stay in the hotel again.”

• A little rough neighborhood.

“It is right at a subway station, a breeze to get anywhere. Complementary coffee and juice in the lobby between 6am and 9am. It is not yet a nonsmoking hotel, and the pool is to die for. The rooms are nice, too, very quiet.”

• No mid-to-fine dining opportunities in walking area.

“Near public transportation, it is very easy to get anywhere in the Vienna area from the hotel. The room was large and had everything I needed. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The hotel prices for internet and food are high but this is expected for a 4 star hotel. There is an independent internet cafe (without cafe) across the street.”

• Double beds were too small and no breakfast.

“Overall, a very pleasant experience, 8.5 out of 10. Good value, great staff, and clean room. Double beds were quite small. Location is right off U-bahn (Meidling stop), but may take a couple train transfers, about 15 min. ride from the Ringstrasse. Be sure to call the hotel & ask for train directions. But good thing is, it's 1 stop away from the must-see Schonbrunn Palace!”

• Rooms were too warm. Breakfast was not included although implied it was.

“The location was excellent - kitty corner to the exit for Meidling U-Bahn station. The room was far too warm although the bed was very comfortable. The staff implied that breakfast was included but it was not at 22 Euros each. They asked if we had had breakfast both days of our stay when we had only ended up staying at the hotel one of two nights that we had booked. We had gone to some trouble to inform them that we would be checking in only for the second of the two nights.”

• Front desk, door, pool and lounge staff all top notch.
• Maid and maintenance staff very noisy at odd hours and during routines. Silence is priceless at the end of the day.

• Hotel is in good location, room is clean and spacious with very comfortable bed.
• Food and mini bar are very pricey.

“Hotel's location is not in center, but its right across the street from the metro, which is very convenient to go anywhere in town. Our room was not fancy but was clean, and the bed was excellent. I wouldn't mind to stay there again.”

• Way better than I expected. Great comfortable beds with good services.
• Had to pay for Wi-Fi.

“After staying in pensions in Prague and Brno, this hotel was a breath of fresh air. Very nice, clean, comfortable rooms with very nice beds. Location was not optimal for sightseeing (except for Schonbrun Palace) but once you figure out how easy the Vienna subway system is. It's just fine.”

• Comfortable beds, convenient to public transport, environmentally aware (re-use towels, etc).
• Did not have enough non-smoking rooms.

“This hotel was in a good location for us because we have traveled in Vienna several times and wanted to be outside the tourist center. It was convenient but away from the center. Comfortable beds, great bed linens and pillows. Front desk staff was helpful even when telling us they couldn't accommodate our request for a non-smoking room. Unlike many hotels that offer (but do not follow through) to re-use towels to help the environment, this hotel followed our request.”

“This hotel was very difficult to get to due to the one way streets and very narrow roads. It did not have much space to park the car temporarily during the registration period. Front desk one staff was rude and not very helpful so as the restaurant personnel.”

“The hotel had comfortable beds and was located near a convenient metro line, one stop away from Schonbrunn Palace, three or four from the Opera House. The hotel's overall look is very dated, and some furnishings/trim look a bit aged as well. The breakfast was decent, but ludicrously overpriced at 20 Euros per person. While the beds were comfortable, all of the pillows, comforters, etc. Were down/feather. This may be a plus for some people, but made me so allergic I had a hard time getting any sleep each of the nights we were there. The staff was friendly and kindly accommodated the requests we made. We had a non-smoking room, but the bathroom smelled strongly of smoke and the whole room smelled like smoke if we turned on the heating/cooling system. Finally, the walls were a bit thin, so we could hear others talking on occasion. It was not quite up to the level of the Renaissance hotels I¿ve stayed in the US, but was acceptable given that the rate was relatively cheap as far as hotels in Vienna go.”

“A pretty good hotel. Location is very good too. Even though it is outside the ring, it is about 1 minute from a Metro Station, and it takes about 8 minutes to get to the center. Metro in Vienna is extremely efficient so everything is close.”

• Clean, close to metro, large room.
• Noisy.

“Overall this hotel was very comfortable with a friendly staff. The location was about 10 minutes away from the center by metro, but the metro station is right in front of the hotel so it's a non-issue. My only problem with my stay there was that my room was located on the side facing the highway and as a result it was somewhat noisy during the evening (this is the only reason why I gave it a 7 for questions 5 and 6, otherwise it would have been a 9). Other than that the room was very spacious as well as clean. I would recommend this hotel but if you want a quiet stay make sure your room is on the other side of the hotel.”

“The location isn't the best - however it's close to the subway which takes 15 minutes to the city center. The room was OK, but for the price we paid, it was excellent value for money. The breakfast was good, the parking facilities adequate but expensive (' 17,-).Next time, I think I'll prefer a hotel in the city center, though...”

• After the first night, they moved me to a more quiet and larger room.
• Many tourist, the area seems like it is a little dangerous.

“Overall not bad, it met the expectations, however I do not think it is a five-star hotel. It is packed with many tourist. The breakfast is not very good for the price.”

“This hotel was an excellent choice for us. the hotel was maintained spotless and the staff was very courteous. the a/c was a welcome relief after staying at several other hotels in Europe that didn't have a/c.”

“The hotel is across the street from an S-Bahn station, and has nice facilities. The only issue was that during our stay the air conditioning system did not work in the room we stayed at, and there was an overall damp smell to the place.”

“It looks as if this hotel is more catered to tourist groups. For the two nights we were there, we have seen big tour buses pulling in and out of the driveway. I wouldn't consider this a four stars hotel. It gives me a comfort inn feel (slightly better). If going to Vienna is to enjoy the romantic part of the city, I wouldn't stay here.”

• Very professional, full service.
• They nickle and dime you for absolutely everything.

“A good imitation of higher end American hotels. The transition from a classic European hotel to some sort of Euro-American combination is obvious. Paying full rate for this hotel would not be worth it. Getting a superb nightly rate will only help the final a little, as add-on charges are rampant.”

• Good location next to subway, but not central.
• The value for the price was not great, even using the "name your own price" option.

“A rather bland exterior, but inside it is much better. It is a nice hotel, no real complaints, but nothing special either. Staff was helpful. Lots of pillows on the bed and where nice, and the swimming pool was interesting. An almost completely unremarkable hotel, and for the price breakfast and use of the fitness room should have been included.”

“This is a typical Renaissance chain hotel. It is new and nicely appointed. It did lack a coffee maker which is usually in most hotels of this caliber. A lot of bus tour groups stay there. It was a good value, but requires the traveler to be comfortable with public transit.”

• The size of the rooms was good and they were clean.
• The breakfast buffet was good but the service was bad.

“The hotel was a short walk from the subway, which was very convenient. This made the location desirable because we could get to the center (Karlsplatz) in about 10 minutes. The rooms were clean and the lobby was pretty. The front desk staff was always helpful with questions and suggestions.”

• Spacious room, very comfortable bed, nice lobby.
• No free e-mail service. There is a payment for the use of sauna, but it is not shown in the hotel info booklet.

• Located right across the street from the subway entrance.
• On the town outskirts. Not a lot of nearby restaurants and bars.

“Our hotel stay was very pleasant and met all our expectations. I would gladly stay here again if I return to Vienna.”

“Generally, a well-run, clean and friendly hotel. I would recommend it to others, as I had no major issues with the place. Again, my only real problem was with the health club. They allow smoking in this area, which is an obvious contradiction to the whole health concept. The highly cramped workout room is also jam packed with hopelessly out of date equipment.”

• The location is great. Its outside the city center, but wasn't a big deal because the subway is right across the street.
• I can't think of anything I didn't like outrageous mini bar prices that's a given!

“The Renaissance Wien Hotel is a beautiful hotel located outside the city center of Vienna Wienm, but is conveniently on one of the city's very efficient U-bahn subway lines and is only 4 stops from the city center. It is only one stop away from the fabulous Schonbrunn Palace. The rooms were tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The restaurant however was overpriced. I would highly recommend this hotel.”

• A/C did not work well, staff were slow to respond.

“The Renaissance Wien, a nice hotel located on the edge of a pleasant residential neighborhood, isn't close to the ring in Vienna, but central Vienna is easily accessed by U-bahn. The hotel is just across the street from the U-bahn stop and the ride to the center is less than ten minutes.”

• Quiet. Swimming Pool.
• Slow computer in Business Center and high charges for internet use

“Exceptionally helpful staff throughout hotel. Checking in and out was a breeze. Close to an underground and bus stop for easy access to the center of Vienna. Not many restaurants nearby but one friendly pub with tasty local cuisine right across the street.We would definitely stay at the Renaissance Wien again.”

• Over all it is a nice hotel but it is not a four star hotel
• The building is old and dated. The water temperature in the water would turn hot or cold uncontrollably!

“This a three star hotel at best both in terms of quality and location. The staff are pretty good but it seemed under staff most of the times. It is popular with big tourist groups and there is not enough staff to support the big groups!Would not go back to it!”

• garage parking charges too high, and unknown at booking time

“While located some distance from downtown Vienna, only 10 minute walk to Shonenbrun Palace. Service in restaurant was excellent as was the fare. Houskeeping staff was excellent in their efforts, even providing iron and board within 3 minutes of request at midnight.”

“5-star rating seems very excessive. Nothing special about the room - clean, but nothing special decor-wise. No 5-star amenities such as nightly turn down, bathrobes, etc. We just came from a 5-star Hilton in Budapest - a world of difference between these two hotels.”
