“Parking lot too far from the room. You need to validate your parking ticket every time you leave the hotel. Besides that, it was an excellent hotel. Will stay there in the future.” Jul 7, 2009 by
Aalex from New York,NY
“Great the best yet cant wait to go back.” Aug 25, 2008 by
Jess from San Francisco, CA
“Overall, this resort was nice, near the beach, nice enough staff.” Aug 12, 2008 by
Ruth from Indian Trail, NC
“Great place, figure out the rules yourself as they do not tell you, other guests reflected our sentiment- "it is the most beautiful prison around"/lots of security, but they are watching you for contraband drinks and food, ridiculous. Food costs an arm and a leg and firstborn at this resort, however my daughter thought it was great. Very safe and secluded resort. No real beach to speak of- no waves, just a calm bay. Drive 20 minutes to restaurants. Beautiful landscape.” Aug 5, 2008 by
Jose from Sann Juan, PR
“The hotel is very nice, but the beach is not good, and there were many people in the swimming pool and dont have good music at night for dance.” Aug 1, 2008 by
Maria from Miami, FL
“The hotel exceeded my expectations. We waited to get a room but we received an upgraded room (suite) next to the all adult pool. The view was spectacular and the room was beautiful. We had a Jacuzzi in the balcony with an ocean view. The staff was great.” Jul 20, 2008 by

“Great beautiful hotel with peaceful surroundings and courteous service all the time.” Jul 9, 2008 by
Liz from Ft Buchanan, PR
“The receptionist during checking in, was terrible. On or about midnight a family entered in our room. This mentioned receptionist assigned them the same room! That was pretty scary! Unfortunately, I did not get her name. Same experience with another one. A virus?” Jun 8, 2008 by
Burney S. from Baltimore, MD
“One of the best golf courses in Puerto Rico.” Jun 5, 2008 by
Eunjoon from Brooklyn, NY
“The facility was great, but the location of the hotel was too far from the main road (3 km from the main road). Also my room was too far to the lobby and pool. Pool is great but the beach was not for the swimming. There were so many ants from the balcony to the room (gross.). I cannot fill the water at the bath tub (it was leaking). Staff was nice and friendly. Food and drinks at hotel are expensive when there is no other option because the hotel is isolated.” May 18, 2008 by
Armand from Grafton, MA
“The hotel is the most beautiful hotel I stayed in. Be careful with certain things, 1- The rooms had fully stocked fridges and a candy area if you removed the object for more than 30 seconds you get charged, 2- They did not let you bring a cooler to your room, 3- If you wanted to lay next to the pool in there luxurious beds, they charged you an extra 50 dollars per day for that. I spent my honeymoon there and it was worth it. I relaxed most of the time, I ate at all three restaurants and sat in their many seating areas throughout the resort. In the end I was relaxed but my pockets were empty.” Nov 22, 2007 by
Karan from Arlington, VA
“We had a really good time at this hotel. It is like a Villa style place where 5 or so rooms make up a Villa. The only problems with this hotel were 1) the distance from San Juan (40 minutes) and 2) the beach at this hotel is pretty crappy, great for a get away, and great for families. Extremely relaxing.” Sep 11, 2007 by
Steven from Alice, TX
“We stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights before we went on a cruise. Arriving in Puerto rice, we didn't know what to expect of this hotel until we saw the place. The hotel was beautiful with its own private beach secluded on a peninsula. The rooms were excellent and the service was outstanding. When checking in, you receive an itinerary of activities that are available throughout your stay. This hotel exceeded my expectations in every way with the exception of the price of meals at the hotel restaurants.” Jul 31, 2007 by
Sylvette from Manassas Park, VA
“I was really looking forward to staying there. The rooms where beautiful. However, our air conditioning was not operating properly. We called to get it check out more than twice and it never changed. Left the room feeling moist and muggy. Took over two hours to check in (insane long lines just for check in). The pool was beautiful as well. But seemed way over crowded for the amount of people actually staying at the hotel. There was vomit in the pool, and around the pool area that seemed to get un-noticed. Management seemed to be way off. Everyone seemed to be complaining about something. We heard it was because of the recent change from Paradisus to Gran Melia; which was a shame because I paid for 5 star services and it was not what we got. While the restaurants were tasty they were over priced. $30 per person for a semi-decent buffet. Their Asian restaurant however was great. Also, their ice machines never had ice in them. So finally, called service to see what was the problem and they just said sorry and tried to charge me to get ice brought to our room. Even though their free ice machines where working up to par.” Jul 26, 2007 by
Ricardo from Orlando, FL
“Parking validation system is terrible requiring traveler to stop at the front lobby every time we left the hotel to validate ticket. Not to mention that it was too expensive. Should include a pass that allows traveler with vehicles to come and go as please. Other than that we loved the place, good music at night, good shows, and great pool.” Jul 17, 2007 by
Germaine from Phoenix, AZ
“The Gran Melia is a beautiful hotel placed on a piece of land which is beautiful but their attempt at making a beach doesn't work due to the tides. It is about 7 miles from town and feel like they get you there and then charge exorbitantly high rates for the food and drinks because you are stuck. If the food costs were less I'd recommend this hotel.” Jun 15, 2007 by
Andrew from Douglasville, GA
“Hotel shuttle charged my wife and me $120 round trip from the airport. Could not swim at their beach because it was very mossy. The refrigerator had a notice that read "this is not a refrigerator it is a cooler" although it functioned as a fridge. Basically, for the price we could have stayed at a nicer establishment. Definitely rent a car! Too expensive to eat at this hotel.” Jun 4, 2007 by
Lisa from Satellite Beach, FL
“Beautiful hotel. Would stay there again.” May 13, 2007 by
Meg from Bethlehem, CT
“The rooms were fantastic- clean, very large, beautiful location and amenities. The pool and grounds were also very lovely it was nice to have the choice of using private beach or well kept (large) pool and pool area (a fantastic feature was the pool side upholstered lounges that one could use at no extra charge- very luxurious!). The only downside to this hotel is the staff- this had the absolute slowest check in/check out (seemed to be short staffed at the front desk) on both occasions we visited. We waited over a half hour to check in on both occasions with a very short line in front of us (first visit one person, second visit - two people). Bar staff slow at pool area. Also one does need a car since the area is a bit far away from anything else and parking is an additional $10 per day.” Apr 3, 2007 by
Denise from New York, NY
“I would recommend it to anyone that asked. We truly enjoyed our stay.” Jul 5, 2006 by
Robert from Elmwood Park, NJ
“There is a saying, "I'd rather eat a cheeseburger with excellent service, than a steak with bad service. "I went to Paradises from Saturday, June 24 to Friday June 30, 2006. Everything was clean. Everything looked nice. The pool and lobby was closely monitored by one of the head supervisors, "Pedro", and he did a good job. The restaurants were some of the worse service I have ever seen.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jul 5, 2006 by

“the worse hotel ever. had to pay taxi like a flight ticket to go to old San Juan. Birds eating the food from the buffet. Restaurants terrible food and service. Beach just to look at it, no swimming. way overpriced.” 2 of 2 people found this review helpful.
