• Very good location just a minute of two from the main bus/train station.
• Area around the hotel is a little rough, but no evidence of it being a problem for safety reasons. We felt comfortable but some might be concerned.

“Overall a great location due to proximity to the bus/train station. Literally 5 to 10 minutes from the old section of Salzburg. Rooms were a good size and equivalent to a hotel in the US or Canada. Breakfast very expensive, but lots of good cafes close to train station. MacDonald's and Burger King right beside train station. Great Italian restaurant across the street. Reasonable internet fees 3 hours for 15 Euro, but your could access at any time. Parking was under the hotel and cost about 20 Euro.”

• Hotel location was not very close to Old Salzburg.

“The location is close to the Hauptbahnhof, which is an advantage, but not so close to Old Salzburg, where most leisure travelers would want to be.”

“The location of the hotel is not really good, a 15 minute walk to town center. The room itself was clean and spacious. Bathroom was clean. Breakfast is quite expensive.”

• It was what I expected from a Renaissance Hotel.
• The room we were in was smoking and I believe we asked non smoking.

“This upscale hotel is located just 10 minutes from the Birth home of Mozart. And in the beautiful town of Salzburg, Austria. The hotel pool was enjoyed by my children. And the room service food was very good.”

• Not close to downtown, but a 15 min bus ride away, b'fast too expensive.

“Staff was very friendly and helpful. Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was a good size with a good showerhead. Very convenient to main train station if one doesn't want to lug bags into town, but keep in mind one will need to take a long walk or bus to get into town to see main attractions.”

“The smoke laden karaoke blaring and women in high heel short skirt image that is visible from the lobby when we checked in very late at night seems to suggest this is hotel was used by locals for entertainment. Parking was plentiful, though the eerie double door door and slightly dim parking levels can be a bit unnerving.”

• Could smell cigarette smoke in my non-smoking room and internet rates.

“Overall, I was pleased w/ the accommodation and price. Rooms were clean and spacious. Not within walking distance of city center, but bus routes to city center nearby. On the down-side, I ordered a non-smoking room, but smoke from the hallways drifted into the room, the bathroom light switch worked about 1/3 of the time, and the wireless internet rates were about $24/day with the current exchange rate.”

• Nice room, love their mint shampoo and the staff was very friendly.
• There was no hot tub and a very small pool and a small fitness area.

“I would return here in the future if the price is competitive as it is not in the centre core but is right next to the train station which is perfect for short term travelers.”

• The staff was EXCELLENT! We had stayed at another Renaissance prior nights and it did not compare to this one!
• While the location is convenient and very close to the city center, the area is in a less desirable part of town - off track betting, homeless people.

“We had a great stay at this hotel. Our rooms were clean and comfortable, and we found the reception staff to be exceptionally pleasant and helpful. Took breakfast in the hotel one morning, and although it was quite good. I'd definitely stay here again, though, for price, convenience and location.”

• Convenient location, within walking distance of the train station.
• Very quiet at night didn't feel too safe.

“Overall the hotel stay was great. It's within 10 mins walking distance from the train station. There is supermarket nearby. However there're not many restaurants around if you don't want to dine in the hotel. The hotel staff did recommend a good Austrian restaurant but it was in a hidden corner of a side street. I wouldn't feel safe to walk there at night time.”

“The hotel is clean and courteous. Seems to be good for conferences and such, to get to the city center, you'll have to take a bus about 10 20 minutes depending on traffic. You can walk to the old city but it is about a mile, not too far, but not convenient. They offer parking for 16e per day (under the hotel with elevator access), though there are two other parking lots across the street for 8e (if I recall correctly).”

• The king size bed is magnificent with six pillows and a chocolate.

“The renaissance Salzburg is an excellent hotel about 250 meters from the train station. It is conveniently located near the bus station for easy access to the old city.”

• The beds are extremely comfortable, down comforter and pillows.
• Tile grout in shower needed repair/cleaning.

• Incredibly small room, rude check-in staff.

“I had stayed at this hotel before and was less than impressed. However, this stay was worse. I was apparently given a handicap accessible room, which didn't have a shower stall, only a drain in the middle of the bathroom floor! The room was so small that I had to put my luggage in the "kitchen" area.”

• Very helpful staff. Very close to public transport. Easy to get to old town by bus.
• The area wasn't lovely, but it was very conveniently located.

“This hotel is staffed by extraordinarily helpful staff. It is clean, polished and has very comfortable beds and pillows. The area around it looks a bit grungy, but it is under development and there are inexpensive restaurants and grocery stores nearby. A lovely 4 star hotel with easy transport links. It's not romantic, but personally, after a long day walking about, I'd rather go back to a modern hotel with an elevator, pool, down pillows and super comfy bed, and air-conditioning, than a period hotel with a 3 story walk-up room, with no air-conditioning, surrounding only by expensive restaurants that wouldn't look kindly on me bringing along my 2 year old.”

• The plumbing system vented into the room with foul odor.

“Well-located, friendly staff, clean, bright, nice place. The only problem? The plumbing system is vented into the room through the vent on the bathroom floor and from time to time a foul odor leaks into the room.”

• The bed, the wonderful, comfortable bed.
• The room service breakfast menu is not very user-friendly if you want get a-la-carte.

“The staff was wonderful, the hotel was wonderful, and the bed was absolutely amazing. We will definitely stay there again our next time in Salzburg, just don't expect to walk to the city center, it's quite a ways away. The room and price, however, definitely make up for it.”

• Conveniently close to a Laundromat (across street) which was a real bonus for us as we were midway on an extended trip.
• Entry to garage was confusing but finally figured it out after circling the block.

“On our first day of arrival, the concierge charged our car for parking already and he offered us a discount rate. On the day we checked out, another concierge asked me to pay for the parking. I told her one of them charged us on the first day. Without even checking it, she said no. It ended up that they charged me twice, and then few days later, they canceled the charge of the discount one.”

“This is a very large modern hotel in a newer section of Salzburg, part of the convention center complex and very near the main railway station. It is a very long walk to the old downtown area frequented by most tourists. The neighborhood adjacent to the hotel is somewhat seedy, although we did find a very nice restaurant around the corner.”

• Fabulous comfortable king bed. Very helpful, friendly staff.
• Two block from train. Awkward to take taxi short distance - but no choice with luggage.

“The rooms seem to have been newly renovated. New carpet. Everything fresh and clean. Huge king bed, like sleeping on a cloud. Six big soft pillows. We stayed twice within a week, and second time was upgraded to a small suite. The desk staff were all very friendly and helpful with directions, reservations, etc.”

• Staff put a hold on my debit card for the full amount of the stay was difficult to remove from overseas and impacted the quality of my vacation.

“Generally nice hotel. Room I got was not exactly 4 stars, but I'm sure there are nicer rooms for higher prices. The location is not great because you have to take a 10-minute bus to the Old City to do anything, but it's only a 2-minute walk from the Hauptbahnof, which is convenient if you're arriving or leaving by train.”

• Far from town and restaurants (20 min walk).

“Standard 4 star Renaissance. Clean, comfortable, convenient to rail station, some distance from town (20 min walk, 10 min bus ride). If you need to be in center of activity, not a good choice. If comfortable traveling back and forth to town (24 h bus pass 3.4 Euro) it works well.”
