“I have just returned form a 12 night stay at the Shangri-la Tanjung Aru staying in the Tanjung wing. What a fantastic hotel; its in a wonderful position just 4 miles from Kota Kinabalu city centre which is easily accessible on the hotels shuttle bus or by taxi. The rooms are wonderfully spacious, immaculately clean and the bathroom is so luxurious. There is an amazing choice of bars and restaurants serving all sorts of food from local dishes to western favourites.You could be very active here if you choose as there are all sorts of activities available or just relax. Although the hotel beach is small there is access from the marina to the offshore islands which are great for snorkeling. The staff at this hotel were without exception extremely polite helpful and friendly. They truly make you feel as if nothing would be too much trouble. I was so glad I chose this hotel and not the Rasa Ria which although lovely is very isolated. I would definateley recommend this hotel.”

• Friendly, helpful staff; great setting; comfortable rooms.
• Grounds are looking a bit tired due to the lack of recent rain.

“The patient, tolerant and friendly staff really did seem to enjoy their work and contact with guests. The choice of swimming in the pool or the sea mere meters apart presented good alternatives. You can be very occupied or very idle depending upon you state of mind.”

• Very well located, small private beach, nice pool, close to city for shopping etc.
• None with the Hotel

“The Hotel was great, staff were nice, food terrific and very central to the city for getting out and about. We were staying at the Nexus Resort for 1 night prior to arriving at the Shang. Nexus was a BIG let down, wouldn't recommend the place at all; Not up to scratch more like a 4 star than 5. Shang. on the other hand was what you would expect from a 5 star resort, highly recommended.”
