“It is hard to understand why there were so many poor reviews of this hotel. It is a nice hotel in a convenient location with everything you need close by.” Oct 1, 2009 by

“Not a 4 star hotel. The rooms were very old and bath was old and dirty, mold growing in the shower. The blankets on the beds were like the horse blankets out in the barn and the bed spread was so dirty and spotted brown that it was hard to see what color it was.” Sep 24, 2009 by
April from Chatsworth,GA
“This hotel met our expectations. Although I have stayed in nicer hotels in my time, this hotel provided comfort, quiet, cleaniness, convenience and good staff service. The hotel was in 5 min walking distance to the Montparnesse metro station. This station is a main hub and provided access to almost anywhere in the city and to long haul trains. However, I was not in love with the neighborhood. Overall, it was great experience at a good price.” Jul 19, 2009 by
Fred from Colorado Springs,CO
“We traveled from the airport in paris to our hotel via bus and was quite suprised when we got off to find our hotel at our feet (nice suprise for first time travelers to paris) the hotel is centaly located to the trains, metro station and some of the best cafe's in town. Ask for a room on the uppeer floors for a spectacular view of the city.” Jun 26, 2009 by
John from Surrey,Canada
“The location of the hotel is very convenient, with Air France busses from CDG stopping directly across from the hotel. The rooms are unrenovated, however they are also of very poor quality. The mattress was horrible, I ended up sleeping on pillows. The rest of the hotel was fine. I would have thought they would have maintained the Starwood "Super Sleeper Bed" program, but obviously not.” Jun 10, 2009 by
Raymond from Toronto,Canada
“Good location. Very old, some floors show their age. Oct 26, 2008 by

“We stayed at the Le Meredian E'Toile a few years ago. Although the location of the Montarnesse is far better, the overal quality of the E'Toile was far better especially related to bed linens and matress.” Sep 23, 2008 by

“This was a great hotel, close to the metro and near restaurants, cafes, and grocery stores. It is a fairly upscale place, so the restaurants and bars were a pretty expensive, but leaving the hotel for such things was easy. The concierge and staff were really friendly and knowledgeable.” Aug 23, 2008 by
Tudor from New York, NY
“Very nice hotel just near Montparnasse Station, very convenient if traveling by TGV. Nice rooms, design lobby and rooms.” Aug 17, 2008 by
Jeff from Washington, DC
“I was pretty worried about staying at this hotel. My room was fantastic, brand new and had a huge plasma TV - I couldn't have been happier. The staff was also very nice and public area was very nice and modern. Thanks!” Jul 24, 2008 by
Noella from East Cleveland, OH
“The hotel is in a good location. You are only 5 minutes from the train and Metro station at Gare Montparnasse. The hotel claimed however that it is a 4 star hotel but on a good day it is a 3 star at best. The rooms are very dated. Everything is so expensive there. However there are two markets that sell really decent sandwiches and the like and there are plenty of cafes around too.” Jul 14, 2008 by
Ruth from Sunnyside, NY
“They are very accommodating there. We stayed away from hotel restaurants because the prices were very high - especially considering the weak dollar. The staff was very friendly. Just the bar experience was a disappointment. After I politely pointed out the dirty coffee cup, they changed the cup and filled the new cup half full (since I'd drunk it before I saw the sticky stains). I think after having drunk from a dirty cup (sticky sugar stains when I hadn't put sugar in it) they could have apologized and given me a full cup. Just very irritating.” Jul 11, 2008 by
Janet from Honolulu, HI
“Great place to stay!” Jul 10, 2008 by
Sarah from Incline Village, NV
“This was my third stay here. Upon check-in, I requested the same room I had last time, if available. I liked the low floor and proximity to the elevator. The reception woman snootily replied that I'd been upgraded last time (really? Nothing about the room screamed upgrade to me). This room was awful, and reminiscent of my very first stay at this hotel: smelly, old and moldy. I went back down and told her it was not a 4* room, and that I wanted a room in the same category. Finally got it. So here's the deal: This hotel has basic rooms that are 1-2* and old bathrooms and well-worn beds (not to mention smoky stench). It also has classic rooms that were remodeled in the past year, and fit a 4* standard. To be clear, even classic rooms are not luxury (think IKEA etc), but they are clean, bright with modern bathrooms and beds. On the plus side, the hotel has free WiFi in the lobby, so in the evenings you have lots of interesting people hanging out on their PCs. Food was decent too.” Jul 10, 2008 by
Charles from St Paul, MN
“Convenient access to Gare Montparnasse and easy walking distance to Jardin Luxembourg, St Germaine and Latin Quarter. The immediate surroundings are ugly concrete buildings, but the view from within makes up for it and the rooms are nice.” Jul 3, 2008 by
Vishal from San Francisco, CA
“It was a nice hotel, good for travelers who enjoy the finer things in life but cannot justify the extravagant expense.” Jul 2, 2008 by
Eric from Alexandria, VA
“I have stayed in nicer motels on highways in the US. The room was ugly, the area was not very nice (though convenient), the beds were typical European quality but not 4-star quality. Does not deserve to have the le meridian name.” Jun 21, 2008 by
Zephraim
“Overall, good hotel located away from touristy downtown but very close to metro station, making it a wonderful option in Paris.” Jun 9, 2008 by
Salim from Laurel Hollow, NY
“Great location, great price, rooms needs to be updated.” Jun 7, 2008 by
Gene from Newark, CA
“It is a nice hotel, but it has seen better days. The location was amazing! The views of the Eiffel tower were breathtaking, even though we did not go there. The rooms were tired and needed renovation. However, I can imagine that if they were renovated, we probably would not have received the prices we did. This is a good hotel, of a good standard. But do not expect luxury. Expect good service, a good location, comfort, but not luxury. I recommend it to anyone traveling to Paris, who has to consider their budget but wants to stay in a good quality hotel. If you are a business traveler and the cost of the hotel is being paid by your company, stay somewhere else.” Jun 1, 2008 by
Sarah from Incline Village, NV
“I hate to admit it since my stay last year was so awful, but the Le Meridien Montparnasse has made some very positive changes since my last stay only a year ago. Whereas my room last year was nasty, smelly, moldy and very old and worn (2* quality at best), this year I was treated to one of the newly remodeled rooms. What a difference! The new rooms, while a little Ikea-ish, are clean, modern, and comfy. Good beds and nice bathrooms. Finally, this hotel has some rooms that merit a 4* rating. But I understand the majority are not yet renovated, so buyer beware. My only recommendation is to join Starwood's guest club and hope for the best. The lobby is also nice, which is good since I spent a ton of time down there (free WiFi). Internet in the rooms was too expensive for a leisure traveler without an expense account. My only beef, the unfriendly and superbly unhelpful concierge desk. The chubby guy with the moustache sent me on a mile-long hike with my suitcase to a non-existent Laundromat. And, the same guy almost caused me to miss my train, but for the grace of a god-like cabbie who saved me. Fyi: the hotel will not order you a cab. They will say they will and do nothing but drop your baggage in the taxi line out front, which is often 8-10 people deep between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Since taxis only come by about one every 10-15 minutes at that time of day, you can wait an hour or more easy! I had not only stopped by the night before, but called when I woke up, and both times was promised a taxi reservation. Beware and plan accordingly.” May 26, 2008 by
Thomas from Capistrano Beach, CA
“I have stayed here twice. It is an anti-Paris experience meaning it is a modern 70's decor and feel. But its location was great. Where ever you are in Paris, you can see the tour Montparnasse and get your direction. Great views from our room on the 23rd floor. Biggest complaint!” May 26, 2008 by
Leif from New Westminster, BC CA
“Great location well served by les cars air France from Charles de Gaul and only airports. Fast and easy access to the Gare Montparnasse which serves well for anyone who plans to continue onto the Loire valley. The area is very well served by countless high quality restaurants and cafes. The area around the hotel has very few tourists and allows you take pleasant walks and see Paris as it actually is, away from the hordes of camera toting tourists. All told, a great location featuring mediocre at best rooms. Technically 4 stars based on amenities but this would barely pass for 2.5 stars elsewhere.” May 23, 2008 by
Arthur from Wellesley, MA
“Great location in a less touristy area. Wonderful connection to Airports and to Versailles. Several outstanding restaurants close by. Very close to all major and some minor attractions. Would stay here again without hesitation.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.May 23, 2008 by

“Well-situated near major Metro lines, full of large tour groups. Some floors have been renovated, but not the floor on which our room was. Nevertheless, I feel I got value.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.May 21, 2008 by

“Disappointing. Clearly not a 4 star hotel by any reasonable classification. Neighborhood is sketchy, and certainly not in the heart of the St.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.May 14, 2008 by

“This hotel was very good, but not great. The lobby was elegant, but the room was small and simple, though very clean and adequate. I was very happy with my experience though there were large tour groups of senior citizens and other foreigners who crowded the lobby often. The location was right near the metro and Air France bus which was very convenient at the end of our stay when we went to the airport. Very helpful at the front desk and concierge. Montparnasse area doesn't have too much to offer for tourists, but is easily accessible to other areas.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.May 11, 2008 by

“Well situated. Enormous (staff told us it was the second-largest hotel in Europe). Modern. Meals are expensive (Breakfast 23 euros, dinner buffet 46 euros). Good views.” Dec 13, 2007 by

“Very satisfied with the quality for the cost. Good location, large room with a great view. Windows don't open so it is warmer than Jul 16, 2007 by

“Excellent locale for trains/metro, plenty of bistros nearby.” May 22, 2007 by

“The room was a good size, the public areas were very nice, the staff friendly but the rooms were outdated in 1970s colors and the beds were uncomfortable; not plush as in the Westin hotels in the U.S. I would call this a 3 star hotel. The location was excellent. Right next to the train station and many restaurants for all meals locally.” May 21, 2007 by

“Its excellent for business and conference type clients.” Apr 18, 2007 by

“Good for the business traveler. In a neighborhood without character outside of main touristic zone and near train station. Close to metro for easy access to the rest of the city. Some Paris character can be found a few blocks away.” Feb 15, 2007 by
Barbara Howells from Poole,Dorset,England
“Room excellent, staff friendly and very helpful, Atlantic bar good but pricey, breakfast more than ample, cold buffet perfect but hot breakfast could have been hotter. We loved our time at hotel and would highly recommend.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 31, 2006 by

“It's a clean large hotel and the people are very friendly. However, the hotel is in an area with no class or charm, and in turn, the hotel has no charm. Also, there is no hair dryer.” Jun 26, 2006 by

“Overall our stay at Le Meridian was pleasant. Close to the Metro and walking distance to the Left Bank.” Jun 15, 2006 by

“Great hotel. Friendly staff. Not very close to main attractions but only a short merto ride. I would recommend to friends and family.” Jun 6, 2006 by

“Perfect location -- right near the airport bus and across from the metro. Near good restaurants and easy access to sightseeing locations. Staff was very accomodating.” 2 of 2 people found this review helpful.Aug 15, 2005 by

“We had read horror stories about this hotel and being stuck on the dreaded 23rd floor. Well, we were put on the 23rd floor. Our room was old and dirty. They also put us in a room with 2 twin beds. We asked for a regular double and were promptly moved to a room on the 24th floor. It was much nicer. Very clean with a modern bath. The hotel is far from the main sites in Paris, but is still easy to get to since there was a metro station across the street. It's also in a busy area with lots of restaurants and shops, so it was always easy to get a bite to eat.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 6, 2005 by

“Le Meridian Montparnasse hotel staff is quality, helpful, nice and funny. I enjoyed the evening quips when I walked in from an evening out. While I did not meet the room cleaning staff, they were excellent.” Jul 12, 2005 by

“High rise hotel with very adequate accommodations.” Jul 4, 2005 by

“Horrible. Rooms nothing like advertised. Small beds. Dirty carpets. Old furniture. Bad baths. Really a 2 1/2 stars, not a 4.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jun 16, 2005 by

“The lobby of the hotel was very nice and the facilities seemed in good shape. The room however was totally outdated with blankets and sheets that had to be almost 20 years old. The room was very small and needed some serious attention. I would NEVER stay at this hotel again.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jun 4, 2005 by

“Booked an executive room and it was excellent spacious spotlessly clean and well equipped - worth the extra. Hotel is out a little from the centre but near to metro (5mins amble away). Very close to Tour Montparnasse with THE BEST view over Paris and no queues! Buffet restaurant not to my taste but they have an excellent Michelin restaurant on site but it is closed weekends. Would recommend and after 5 disappointments have finally found a hotel in Paris that I feel comfortable in ( they are often very cramped and of dubious cleanliness) and that is realistically priced.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.
