  • The simplest of questions asked to the concierge was met with shrugged shoulder (except for Alejandro).

“The hotel did not disappoint us. Only wish the concierge service reflected 5-star hotel expectations.”

  • Outstanding service by the staff.
  • Great for a couple but pricy for families because of extra people charges.

“The Westin Palace is a great hotel in Madrid and is located within easy walking distance of the Prado, Reina Sofia, and Thyssen museums. There were no surprises or unexpected charges and the staff was extremely helpful. If you leave your room for an hour, it is cleaned and picked up. The hotel restaurant is elegant but very pricey so it is best to try for a package that includes breakfast and/or a dinner. My wife accidentally sprained her ankle while in Madrid and the staff at the Palace showed genuine concern and even loaned us a crutch for several days after our reservation. I highly recommend the Westin Palace.”

“Palace has a great reputation, this is my third visit in as many years and while at time a little rough around the edges for a 5 star, the price makes this an excellent value.”

  • The bathroom is great. The concierge was very helpful and recommended a great restaurant.
  • You could stay in another hotel for the same price and be treated better.

“From the street you see "the palace' which sounds fantastic and the hotel the lobby is very welcoming. The staff made an error and placed us in an already occupied room so we had to walk back down to the lobby and be reassigned. They were not very friendly and acted as though it was our fault. The 1st floor rooms are not 5-star qualities. I would not recommend staying here as there are many other nice hotels in the vicinity.”

“Great location and filled with character. The rooms were spacious and not noisy in spite of the location of the hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The amenities of the beautician were a little disappointing for the establishment. Overall a great stay and would highly recommend the Westin.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[8] • Location:[8]

  • Beautiful linens, excellent bath facilities.
  • Construction.

“The hotel was lovely and the room easily met our expectations. However, the hotel was undergoing construction -- which we did not know about prior to our booking and which would certainly have influenced our decision to book. The construction was taking place on much of the 5th floor, which was right under us. Sunday was fine, but Monday morning at 8 am they started hammering and pounding and drilling and this went on all day until after 6 pm. So much for having any "romance" in our room during the afternoon hours. We booked this hotel for our anniversary and were looking forward to peace and beautiful surroundings -- and the peace part we certainly did not get during the day. Might want to consider not including this hotel at this level when the expectations of people booking "5 star" rooms most likely do not include hammer-drilling for 10+ hours per day.”

“We were awakened by the housekeepers all eight mornings. The smoke in the nonsmoking hotel aggravated my allergies, but they refused to move us. The carpeting was filthy.”

  • The staff were incredibly friendly, the hotel was GORGEOUS and luxurious and everything you could want!
  • We wanted a non-smoking room and had to sleep in two twin beds opposed to a whole bed, which we could have had in a smoking room.

“Absolutely amazing hotel! Gorgeous! The rooms are as impressive as the lobby! The staff is very friendly and accommodating The location is great, just a 15 minute walk from Plaza del Sol and 5 minute walk to El Prado. We spent our anniversary at this hotel and our expectations were exceeded and the experience was all we could have hoped for!”

The view was spectacular and the linens and bath were outstanding. We even had the Rolling Stones (or at least one of them) staying two doors down from us. Great hotel with relatively friendly service.”

“This was a short trip for Madrid during the year end and the new year holidays. The hotel was conveniently located to everything, and it is just in front of the Prado museum, in addition to Messenger Huerta Adel sol, where the new year count down party is held, is in 10 minutes walk. So we didn't need to worry about the shortage of public transportation after the party.”
