Tracy from Flagstaff,AZ
“This hotel is a short walk from the Kilburn Park Underground Station. Lobby area is standard Marriott fare, while it seems the rooms have not yet made the Marriott renovation list. They were clean but a bit worn and the bathroom needed some repairs to tile and such. However, it was a good place to rest your head for the night and get around the town easily on the Tube.” Sep 6, 2009 by
Fiona from Lagrange,GA
“very helpful conceirge so good if sightseeing” Apr 17, 2009 by
Asit from Allen,TX
“It is old, not very clean, housekeeping does not clean the rooms/bathrooms or replace used coffee cups-they just don't take the pride in doing the job.” Oct 24, 2008 by
ken
“Good value. Clean rooms with very comfortable bed. Convenient location to the tube.” Oct 6, 2008 by
Jane
“It’s smoky and noisy.” Sep 30, 2008 by
gerry
“The location was close to two or more tube stations and very convenient. Both the lobby and rooms were very well appointed and beautiful. There was ample room to move around and everything was clean with great friendly and helpful staff. Definitely the top of the three star hotels.” Sep 25, 2008 by
Samuel
“The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and the service we had was great.” Sep 23, 2008 by
Jason
“The staff was extremely helpful with all of our needs and questions. The location was very close to the Cliburn tube stop was not in a dangerous area. We felt safe during the day and late at night while walking to and from the tube stop (about 4 blocks). The bed was comfortable and clean, and if you do not mind taking 15 minutes to get to the center of the city, it was a very quiet and convenient location.” Jul 31, 2008 by
Jeff from Aventura, FL
“Clean hotel, not in best location.” Jul 25, 2008 by
Paul from Greenville, NC
“Despite the problems I had with the cleaning staff.” Jul 15, 2008 by
Gail from Putnam Valley, NY
“A typical business hotel located 10 - 15 minute tube ride outside of central London. Rooms were on the small side but adequate. Clean with comfortable beds. The staff was very helpful with directions and suggestions.” Jul 9, 2008 by
Deanna from Northridge, CA
“The hotel was very nice in decor and quality. Thank god people checked out the next night so I could sleep in a nonsmoking room for the next few nights. However I could still smell smoke in the hallway, but I guess that's just London in generally, always smelling of cigarette smoke. The bed was very comfortable. Good location to the nearest Tube. Internet cafe closes by.” Jun 16, 2008 by
Amy from South San Francisco, CA
“I was happy with my stay at this hotel. We were given a beautiful and comfortable room, and received great service throughout our stay. The hotel is very conveniently located near the underground; it only takes about 5-10 minutes on the train to get to Central London. The surrounding neighborhood is fine and not too busy, perfect to return to after touring around.” May 27, 2008 by
Paul from Parma Heights, OH
“Overall decent but not great. Location was fairly close to tube stop, but not in an active neighborhood.” May 27, 2008 by
Linda from Victoria, BC CA
“The hotel was as expected, but the location was less than optimum. Would not stay there again. A really great Italian restaurant across the street that I highly recommend.” May 25, 2008 by
Floyd from Mount Pleasant, TX
“We had only a brief stay, and wanted to accomplish two conflicting goals - to relax before the long flight home, and to see something of London. The hotel staff was able to advise us how best to go about this, and then made it possible for us to get both things done. On the whole, it was a delightful stay.” May 25, 2008 by
Marie from New York, NY
“The room was great by London standards. Clean and acceptable size. Convenient location near the Kilburn Park tube. Some restaurants at and near the hotel to enjoy. Exercise and pool facilities are nice. On the down side, it was not agreeable that they told me I was getting a non-smoking room, which in fact had been and the smell of smoke remained in the room. The bed was very old and you could feel all the springs. Finally after requesting a change the hotel after a few nights bad sleep, they kindly transferred me to a much better room.” May 16, 2008 by
Martha from Gun Barrel City, TX
“Hotel was decent, clean, friendly. Location not to bad. Short walk to buses, tube stop not too far. Breakfast buffet has limited access since you must climb a flight of stairs. Needs to be moved downstairs, where there seemed to be plenty of room.” May 14, 2008 by
Joe from Green Bay, WI
“Hotel was great for myself (single) for a weekend trip to London. Staff was great, had the best massage of my life in my room. They gave a great recommendation on a local pub. Only negative is 3 block walk to the tube station and is a ways from City Center. Overall, the hotel did not market the local Maida Vale neighborhood very well, it's a very nice neighborhood.” May 8, 2008 by
Alexander from Norway, MD
“A decent hotel in a quiet area. Pretensions of being upscale is marred by kitschy decor (too much wood, low lighting and scruffy carpets), typically ancient hotel technology, and a location that feels a bit dingy. A business centre provides computers at #7 per 15 minutes; there's no WiFi, and the only internet access is expensive that charges #15/day, even though you just wanted to check your email. About five blocks from Bakerloo line, it's easy to get to places, although visitors (like us) coming to and from Stanstead will have to spend about 45 minutes to get to the Liverpool Street train. We did not try the restaurant, but had breakfast served to our room. While the basics (cereal, tea, jam and so on) were good, the hot dishes (the full English breakfast in particular) were awful, plastic stuff. The area offers a Tesco and a very good (much better than it looks) Italian restaurant just a block up the street, but little else worth mentioning.” May 8, 2008 by
Alan from Ardmore, PA
“It was a wonderful room and the staff was quite helpful. While not in a major area of London, the hotel is remarkably convenient to all areas via either bus or tube. Some minor complaints are that certain things in the room just didn't work. The fridge for the mini bar was broken. And they provided an electric tea pot which would have been nice had it not been broken as well. Overall, a great experience, but most definitely not a 4 star hotel.” May 6, 2008 by
Sandra from Ladysmith, BC CA
“The room was very good. Area off the beaten path and tube not so convenient. Be careful and alert in surrounding area. I would stay there again.” May 5, 2008 by
Sandra from Ladysmith, BC CA
“This hotel, although slightly off the beaten path provided an excellent room. By European standards it was spacious with a great bed and a decent bathroom. I would only caution it is a walk from the underground station Kilburn Park to the Hotel through a less than desirable area. It pays to be alert. If you get off at the Maida Vale station which is before the hotel and in a better area, you have a longer walk ahead of you. The restaurant Fratelli offers three course meals which are decent, but more expensive. It would have been nicer if they had some background music. There is a Tesco convience store close by which is handy, (As the man across the street at a unnamed Supermarket had both his hands down his pants and was not speaking English I stuck to Tesco) I would stay at this hotel again as the most important thing for me was a clean comfortable room, with a decent bathroom and this hotel met those expectations.” May 4, 2008 by
Michael from Half Moon Bay, CA
“Very nice hotel with large and modern rooms but in a residential district that is 15 minutes from most sites, theaters, etc. If you have luggage, it is 2 long blocks to the tube station and not great if it is raining. It is only two tube stops from Paddington Station and trains to Heathrow. Several small restaurants in the area.” May 2, 2008 by
Joseph from Chicago, IL
“This is a very nice modern hotel in an authentic London neighborhood, away from the usual tourist haunts. The staff is very helpful and housekeeping was one of the best Ive seen anywhere. Convenient to the tube and various bus lines, this was a great location. I'd like to stay here again.” Apr 19, 2008 by
Melanie from Brooklyn, NY
“Hotel reception was terrible - unfriendly and unaccommodating staff. Tried to give me a room with one bed when I booked a room with two beds for myself and my friend..” Mar 31, 2008 by
Amy from Washington, DC
“Absolutely not a 3 or 4 star hotel. The entire 3rd floor smelled of smoke. Our room stunk the entire time of smoke. I was told that it was completely booked up so we could not be moved. I asked for a room with 2 beds, early check in and non-smoking. We were given a pull out couch, which the staff spent an extra 45 minutes making up and it was missing a critical slat, so my daughter fell through the bed at 1:30 a.m. We waited for 2 hours to check in and the room reeked of smoke. This was the worst hotel/worst service/least accommodating or helpful experience I have ever had with Marriott. I and my daughter were extremely disappointed. Having a refrigerator was helpful. Having tea and milk was a nice touch. When we asked for additional milk and sugar we did not receive it. Also, when we checked in the lamps, teapot, TV, and refrigerator did not work. The concierge had to come up and reset some electrical button before the appliances would work. The hotel's location did not appear to be actually in the neighborhood that I had selected, but it was close enough to the Tube and very convenient to some strategic bus lines. We began on a bad foot (waiting and bad attitude from the front desk) and the place never really recovered after that (we asked for a blanket for the pull out couch which was supposed to be made up, and it took two trips from housekeeping to show up with a blanket). If our room and the 3rd floor hadn't smelled Smokey the whole time it would have been a significantly better experience -- we could have ignored the staff and slept in peace, but it was unpleasant to be in a Smokey atmosphere. It was frustrating not having housekeeping requests honored. It was a let down to be treated like a secondary guest.” Mar 28, 2008 by
Russell from West Lafayette, IN
“We started off with no extra bed. I had to ask them three times for the bed us paid for. Staff was unpleasant and there was no way of discussing what we paid for. Location is very poor and out of the way. Not a recommend place to stay at all.” Mar 26, 2008 by
Cher from Baltimore, MD
“I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel IS farther from central London than I'm used to, but not inconveniently so. The nearest Underground station to the hotel (Bakerloo line) is a 7-8 minute walk and buses run past the hotel constantly. Little Venice, with its lovely canals, is a 20-minute walk. My first night at the hotel, the very helpful concierge guided me to a terrific row of restaurants within a 10-minute walk (try the Indian restaurant!)My room was small but, like the hotel's public areas, very clean and well-kept. The hotel decor leaves much to be desired, but one hardly expects cutting edge interior design from Marriott. The linen and towels were clean and fresh, the toiletries high-end, and the fastened-to-the-desk-drawer hair dryer fairly powerful. Guests get complimentary access to a terrific gym. The Italian restaurant in the lobby does a nice brick over pizza. The hotel staff is superior - from reception to concierge to housekeeping to room service and restaurant staff, each person with whom I interacted at the Maida Vale Marriott was warm, accommodating, professional and eager to please. Overall, the Maida Vale Marriott is a great value in expensive London.” Mar 22, 2008 by
Eric from Redwood City, CA
“Nice hotel. Good location.” Mar 20, 2008 by
Christina from Worcester, MA
“Overall, very nice hotel. Staff was very helpful and polite. Beds could be a bit more comfortable but the room was clean and large for London.” Mar 15, 2008 by
Doug from Breckenridge, CO
“It is a good location, but I would put it in the 3 Star category, not 4 Star. The people were nice, but the hotel needs refurbishing to be a 4 Star hotel, about $10,000,000 should do it.” Mar 5, 2008 by
Thomas from Naperville, IL
“The hotel was close to the underground. For the price I paid which was 50 pounds a night I couldn't complain! It was such good value. Even if you paid 100 pounds. I loved the fact that I had huge towels, a big bed with heaps of pillows and huge bathroom where I could have a bath in a nice clean tub.” Feb 17, 2008 by
Gagan from Vienna, VA
“Good choice for all. Good food. Internet expensive at 15 pounds, but apart from that good hotel.” Nov 13, 2007 by
Rl from Reading, PA
“This hotel is billed as 4 star. It isn't. It is supposed to be close to baker street. It isn't. They say they're close to Wembley they are not. It is far, far away from central London. There is a tube station about four long blocks away. The rooms stank of cigarette smoke, and the whole place looked like a best western. And, too boot, they didn't get my billing right. Sorry I ever stayed here stay away.” Jul 11, 2007 by
E from Cupertino, CA
“Nice clean hotel. Rooms are spacious.” Jun 19, 2007 by
Rosemarie from Lake Worth, FL
“Listed internet but did not list an added charge. I was misleading by the added expense of internet usage, it was solo expensive. The amenities said they had electrical adaptors. I used their electrical adaptor and shorted out my flat iron.” Jun 8, 2007 by
Kristi from Whiting, IN
“Too bad this hotel is not in a more central location, it was the best of the 9 hotels I stayed at on this trip but as a single female traveler I was uneasy about using tube at night but there are convenient buses.” May 17, 2007 by
Marian from Redmond, WA
“The Marriott Maida Vale is conveniently located to the Kilburn Park tube stop. The staff was both efficient and friendly. The room was large and the bed was incredible.” May 6, 2007 by
Jay from Silver Spring, MD
“Great experience overall. Although the immediate neighborhood is rather drab and lacking in entertainment, it's a worthwhile price to pay for the superb attention and spacious rooms.” May 3, 2007 by
Lorraine R. from Caledon, ON CA
“The Hotel looks nice from the outside. The main lobby and dining areas also looked nice however we did not eat in the restaurants. There was an older building smell especially in the hallways. I would guess the building has been there for many years and the Marriott purchased it and renovated. The windows did not open, which would have been nice as it was rather warm in all our rooms (probably explains the smell in the halls- just needs a good airing out I think). We were able to obtain a fan from the front desk with no problems. The beds are comfy (soft) and the pillows are really nice. The room was a good size and we also had a little table and 2 chairs. Our group had 4 rooms - all were a bit different but all were suitable to our needs. When exiting the hotel, if you turn right and walk down the street for about 10-12 minutes, on the other side of the road (past McDonalds) there is a pub called 'The Golden egg'- Traditional English pub and they had some 2 for 1 meals that were 2 dinners for 6.50 (pounds). We all enjoyed our meals there - and it was cheap for London. Hope this helps.” Apr 27, 2007 by
Martin from Victoria, CA
“This is an excellent hotel was very impressed with the room, hotel and staff. The gym access is first class! The initial drawback was its location as its a little way out of the centre of things. The discovery of a silver link train station with three to four trains an hour straight into Easton station made our day! Buy a daily zone one and two all day ticket, hop on the train and you are connected in 12 minutes to Easton with easy transfer there to underground. A handy supermarket is not far.” Apr 26, 2007 by
Jonathan from Highland Park, IL
“Clean.” Apr 20, 2007 by
Terri from Morro Bay, CA
“Although the metro is not right out front, it is around the block and buses run directly in front of the hotel to Victoria station where many tours originate at in London. I found the hotel concierge desk more than made up for any short comings at this location. They were absolutely the best.” Apr 3, 2007 by
Damian from Orlando, FL
“Safe clean area, with good rooms but a bit far from central London.” Mar 27, 2007 by
Eric from Columbus, OH
“Overall, not a bad hotel. Clean room, great bathroom. Only down side was an expensive breakfast and a mediocre location.” Nov 22, 2006 by
Tim from New York, NY
“An easy eight minute walk from the Underground brought me a to 4**** star Marriot. The room was large, very nice, fantastic bed. The hotel was close enough to the Underground to make it into Central London very easily. The area around the hotel was not so great. Being from NYC, I didn't think it was such a big deal. I got the room for 90 USD/night.” Nov 16, 2006 by
Todd from Medford, MA
“The Maida Vale is an excellent if you don't mind the neighborhood. Turn left when you leave the hotel, and it's a great experience. Turn right and it gets dicey. It seems fine for adults, but I would be careful when bringing children there. There was a double stabbing during my trip on Saturday night, half a block from the hotel. But the staff is extremely friendly and helpful; the room was clean and orderly. It was close to the tube station, but you had to travel a tough part of town to get there. A good hotel in a tough neighborhood.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Nov 3, 2006 by

“The hotel met our needs very well. Excellent rooms, helpful staff. Maida Vale is a lovely neighborhood, although I would say the Marriott is on the edge of a less desirable area.” Oct 26, 2006 by
Donald from Chicago, IL
“But I way overpaid. It is terribly inconvenient, the staff is inept, and the health club does not open until so late that a business traveler can't use it in the morning.”
