“Not a comfortable hotel, usual Swiss hotels include breakfast but this one didn't. It gives Lucerne a bad feeling.” Jul 25, 2006 by
Andrea from Portsmouth, UK
“Room was small, unwelcoming, the TV did not work properly and even the soap rack had all-but fallen off of the wall. We did ask for another room but one could not be offered until the next day. As we were only there for 3 days, we did not want to waste one of them, waiting for another room to be vacated. The hotel does not have air conditioning! (this seems to be a rarity in Switzerland). There was, however a large fan on when we arrived. Beds have duvets (again, not all hotel have them). The waiter did not seem to like us although we had a laugh with the young lady in reception. The swimming pool was closed for cleaning. There is free internet access in the 'lobby' (although that does make it sound a lot pusher than it is!) with some security. Note: Swiss keyboard has keys in different places. Might have to ask how to get the @ sign. Hotel laundry service is CHF! (CHF3 for underwear). Strongly recommend you use the Jet Wash laundry in town as they speak English, wash, dry and fold your clothes and even pair up your socks. All for CHF17 per basket. On the whole, I'd say that the hotel was okay as a place to sleep. The restaurant was, better at, I'd guess a 3 or 4 star standard.” Jun 19, 2006 by

“We had a terrible experience. When we went to check in, we were moved to the neighboring Ambassador Hotel. There was no air conditioning in 90+ degree weather and we were put on the top floor on the sunny side. We were in a sweat the second we walked in the room. They would not move us. We did not sleep for the 2 nights we were there and were bitten by bugs all night--in the mornings we had little bumps/bites all over us. We found big bugs in our towels in the bathrooms. The worst stay I have ever had in a hotel. It was holiday while we were there and were told by the front desk receptionist all stores closed. When I asked if that was the case in Zurich too (so we could plan our day) we were told yes. But that night we went to Zurich and most stores were open so we wasted one of our only Switzerland days in a Luzerne with everything closed when we could have enjoyed the day in Zurich shopping.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jun 12, 2006 by

“good hotel, nice location, great view, friendly staff, good breakfast, also next to star bucks. TV was very small, desk and chair was very basic.” Sep 29, 2005 by

“A nice 3 star hotel only 5 minutes. walk from the train station and very close to the Dying Lion of Lucerne and the Hofkirche. The Hotel De La Paix is a good deal for the location. Also next to the hotel is a Starbuck coffee shop and a shopping center with a grocery store inside for your food needs. I traveled alone to Lucerne and after checking into my room, I was shocked to find myself with a corner room with a balcony next to the country flags flying out front. The rooms are well appointed with cable tv, a writing table, chair and a very comfortable bed. The rooms also come with a good sized in suite bathroom and strong water pressure in the shower. There is an elevator and free internet available in the lobby for the guests to use. The restaurant is a well appointed space, that is a popular dinner spot with the locals and the breakfast buffet offers a good selection. If you want, the hotel does own a pool but in a separate building for use until 9pm which they are happy to show you to if you ask. The staff are friendly and English speaking and are happy to invite you into their hotel. You feel welcome in the Hotel De La Paix.” 2 of 2 people found this review helpful.Hotel Representatives:
