“I did not feel this hotel was up to 4 star quality. It was clean and good service but as a business traveler I was most disappointed in the internet service. No internet in the rooms - they said there was wireless in the lobby but it never worked. The safe in my room did not work. I was moved to another room and that safe did not work either.” Apr 19, 2008 by
Jez from Melbourne
“Terrible. Room staff threw away notes and books on my desk. Desk staff tried to charge me an extra night without showing me any paperwork. No heating in a smelly room. The worst hotel I have ever stayed in.” Apr 10, 2008 by
Howard from Plattsburgh, NY
“The original room given to me was a disaster. It had no windows and was really a closet. When I companied they offered to upgrade me to a nicer room but only if I pay more per night. I had no choice, I did.” Oct 24, 2007 by
Sarah from Pittsburgh, PA
“Great hotel if you are looking for convenience. It is maybe 4 blocks from the train station and a 5 minute from the doom. The decor was a little medieval themed. The bathroom did not have a shower curtain which made it hard to shower without getting water everywhere. There was a little bit of mold in the grout of the tiles. It would have been a lot nicer if breakfast was included in the price for the room.” Aug 20, 2007 by

“The light of my room and the shower doesnt work. Its terrible.” Jul 27, 2007 by
Jason from Bellevue, NE
“Overall this hotel was fine. The main things that tainted our experience was breakfast not being included (it cost 15 euro) and the staff did a terrible job handling (still being worked as I type this review) an issue of some vanishing clothing. We had a bag with about $120-150 in clothes in it sitting at the foot of our bed when we left in the morning and when we returned the room was made up and the bag of clothes was gone. They said they asked the housekeeping staff about it and checked the laundry but nothing was found and they didn't offer to do anything about it. They just sent us packing and told us to e-mail their customer service rep. Again, as a hotel, it was more than adequate. As a staff, we were extremely disappointed.” May 28, 2007 by

“We went to the hotel thinking that it was a 4 star hotel. It fell far short of our expectation. It was an old hotel in terms of rooms and facilities. Our fridge in the room did not work at all, shower in the bathroom had barely any water pressure and dirty. Our room was tiny and hotel staff was not helpful when we asked questions about neighborhood. This is in comparison to other 4 star hotels we stayed in other parts of Italy. ” Apr 13, 2007 by

“Excellent staff -- hotel very pretty -- very clean.” Jan 22, 2007 by

“The hotel has a good location, but is run down and worn out. The carpets were in terrible shape, faded, dirty, and needed replaced. Our room had bug guts, from where they were killed on the walls.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Nov 13, 2006 by

“It was tough to initially find, has no parking, but is close to most museums, ships, etc that one would usually visit in Florence.” Sep 11, 2006 by

“Good location, romantic room and friendly staffs.” May 31, 2005 by

“The hotel is in a great location. It is convenient to historical sites and shopping. The hotel has an old world style while having modern amenities.” May 7, 2005 by

“the hotel was good, distance in Florence are walking distance, the rooms where ok the bathroom are cold and showers with out curtains. very poor expensive internet in rooms” Jan 4, 2005 by
Joerg S. from Apo “Very nice hotel, great staff and very close to all the sights (then again Florence isn't that big). The only disadvantage is the noise from the main road (lots of traffic)” Sep 20, 2004 by
Jennifer A. from Waltham, MA “When we first got to the hotel, we arrived early, and they accommodated us in an apartment-style suite located outside of the main building. When we requested to switch, they were extremely accommodating, and gave us a 5th floor room with a king-sized bed. They failed to recognize our honeymoon in a special way, as some of the other hotels we stayed at on this journey. Regardless, the concierge was so helpful with great recommendations and was able to make reservations for tours for us. The rooftop bar was incredible and the bartender was lively and fun. The hotel itself is beautiful and located in an very key spot near the Duomo in the Center of Florence.” Sep 10, 2004 by
Benjamin B. from New York “The Golden Tulip Mecenate Palace Hotel is a very fine, well-run hotel. The rooms are of fair size, with excellent bathrooms and dressing rooms. The roof terrace where the buffet breakfast (of average quality) is served is very beautiful. I greatly appreciated the daily complementary copies of the Herald-Tribune and Wall Street Journal. The staff was very obliging. The principal drawback is its location, not convenient to most important sights, requiring a ten minute walk to the Central Train station for buses. Of course this inconvenience is reflected in the prices.” Hotel Representatives:
