• Good, clean, new and comfortable hotel.
• Not necessarily convenient for leisure travels, good for EU business travelers.

“We enjoyed this hotel very much. It met our expectations and we would stay there again. It's not necessarily convenient for public transportation, especially the main train station, but was good value for the price we received.”

• Efficient, friendly and flexible service.
• Pool is a little short for a serious swimmer - but then almost all hotels are the same!

“I arrived early (09:00) and yet they sorted me out with a room immediately. My gold membership gave me an upgrade to have access to the club level which provided a very good breakfast and early evening drinks/snacks. It is very convenient to the heart of the city, 2 minutes walk from the Parliament.”

• It was very nice, clean, large room, friendly staff.
• The pool closes early on the weekends.

“This hotel is a little outside the main tourist areas, but if you don't mind walking about 20 minutes, it is a good choice. It was very quiet, which was great, compared to our hotel in Amsterdam the night before.”

• The pool and gymnastic facilities were fantastic, best experienced in a long time.
• The internet use was 5 Euros for 10 minutes, I thought that was a little steep.

• Heating was excessive.

“The hotel is essentially a business hotel with a good level of facilities and service. The pool is especially good. While the staff were child friendly the restaurant facilities are not. Our stay was marred by the fact that the hotel and particularly our room was uncomfortably warm and the drains were smelly.”

“This is a very nice hotel. There is good transportation to the center, but it has some benefits of not being directly in the tourist center like a grocery store and less people. The rooms and staff are very nice.”

• The hotel was very nice, but the staff made the stay exceptional.
• There was nothing that I did not like about this hotel.

“The staff at the hotel is friendly and welcoming. Guests are greeted at the door and offered sparkling wine or water as they check in. The hotel rooms are typical 4 star European modern. I upgraded to the executive package and was able to include internet, snacks and entry to the lounge. I would stay at this hotel again.”

• First class business hotel with high level of service.
• Single traveler put in room with two narrow beds.

“The Renaissance is a first rate business hotel right in the heart of the EU district. It is clearly geared toward business travelers rather than leisure travelers, but that should not prevent the casual traveler from enjoying the hotel. Like many first class chain hotels, the furnishings are nice, staff is professional, and rooms are quiet and comfortable. Everything works. However, it is a chain; the hotel could just as easily be in Frankfurt, London, or even LA. There's nothing wrong with this; but if you want charm, this is not the place. The hotel is ideally located for any business with the EU or its various arms. It's a short walk from the metro. The location is not in the center of things for tourists, but it's not inconvenient either. The one gripe is that they have rooms with two double beds. The double beds are rather narrow for people used to American hotels. The mattress size is closer to a twin than a real double. However, the mattress quality is rather good, and other than being narrow, the beds are comfortable.”

• No free Wi-Fi and we got two single beds instead of a queen.

“We were very pleased with our experience at the renaissance Brussels hotel in Brussels. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and we were greeted with a glass of champagne when we arrived. The rooms were spotless and the beds very comfortable, although we ended up with two single beds instead of a queen as requested. Overall though, the price was fantastic for the quality of the hotel. Great location too, in walking distance to city center and other sights.”

• Very difficult to find the street it is located on. Breakfast not included. 25.00 euros each for breakfast.

• Wonderful staff and lovely room.
• The location of the hotel was far from the center of the city.

“The renaissance Brussels hotel is a wonderful hotel, probably suited best to business travelers because of its location near the European union. The staff is wonderful and very attentive. The breakfast buffet was above average and the dinner we ate in their restaurant was excellent. The only issue we had was that the hotel is not centrally located and the neighborhood, although fine in the daytime, is deserted at night.”

• The front desk staff was most accommodating as was the restaurant folks.
• Not as close to the center of town, but buses worked well.

“The hotel was lovely. Food and service in restaurant was wonderful. A bit noisy with some street work being done outside below our room, but we didn't come to Brussels to sleep. Our luggage got lost in route and the concierges tried their best to assist us in finding it. There was entertainment in the lobby two nights that we were there. Lovely. I'd stay there again and recommend it to others.”

“Beautiful hotel, they offer Belgium chocolates as you walk in. The food was very good, not exquisite. The room is big and very classy. Beds were really soft and did not get a good sleep.”

• Plumbing seemed a bit old. Room felt a little weathered.

“I was quite pleased with this hotel. The location really suited our needs. The staff were very nice and made us feel quite welcome. Our bed was extremely comfortable and the sheets were clean without smelling of bleach. The room was nice, although it felt a bit in need of refurbishing. The plumbing was not so hot, literally. Water temperature was sort of inconsistent in the shower and drainage was slow in both sink and shower. Not enough to make us uncomfortable, but just enough to make us feel like the room was a bit over used.”

• The room was very plush and clean.
• It was not close to the city center and restaurants.

“I would recommend this hotel to travelers headed to Brussels. We had a 2 - year old with us and it was very comfortable for everyone. The only thing you must keep in mind is that you cannot easily walk to the city center from the hotel. We took the metro from the main train station in Brussels to the Trone station near the hotel and walked a little bit to get there. Then to go to dinner in the city center, we took a taxi. We didn't mind these things. It's just something to know when planning your trip.”

• And a great hotel.
• Received some bad info on bus connections from the doorman.

“This hotel is definitely 4-star. Very nice people. The bed slept like a cloud. Clean and efficient. The concierge was especially helpful. More centrally located than a map indicated. Within practical walking distance (if you like to walk like we do) than one might imagine. Really a very comfortable and comforting stay.”

• Extras are very expensive (breakfast, phone calls, parking).

“Well located for the business traveler in the European Union district but not as convenient for the leisure traveler. Still an excellent value, for $53 per night you can afford the extra bus/metro fare to get into town and the rooms are extremely comfortable and there are nice amenities such as a gym and pool. Extras are expensive but you can skip the breakfast and park elsewhere.”

• Very clean with friendly staff and lots of amenities.
• The air conditioning did not work correctly. The hotel was about a 20 minute walk from all the tourist sites.

“The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, but it was unbearably hot at night due to the poor air conditioning. It would be a great hotel for business travelers, but it's quite a long distance from any of the main tourist attractions.”

“I got this excellent 4-5 star hotel for the price of a Brussels 2 star hotel. Across the street from EU buildings and Luxembourg train station. Very friendly staff. Although it was not exactly the location we wanted to be, we changed our plans to come back to this hotel. Very happy with it. This hotel also has access to very nice fitness center with pool on site.”

• The restaurant food was only okay.

“A wonderful hotel. The town center is a bit of a walk, but still very accessible by foot. The staff is friendly, the rooms spotless, and the gym facilities were a great surprise. I highly recommend staying here.”

“I was told during check-in that I was "upgraded" from a regular room to an executive apartment. Yes, I had microwave, refrigerator and other things that I didn't need, but over the 3 nights that I stayed my room was not cleaned at all, I had to order some extra towels (since they were not replaced) and it took then 25 minutes to deliver them (and one extra phone call from me wioth the reiminder), there was only one tiny shampoo and body wash that was not replaced etc. They have the official 5 star rating on the door: I had better service in 3 start hotels. Good location, bad service. Overall: not recommended.”

• Unreliable service. Did not get wakeup calls. Club floor which was supposed to serve breakfast starting at 6 a.m. sometimes didn't open until after 8.

“Overall was a nice experience. Hotel is in good location. Personnel are friendly -- but shortcoming is that they are not well trained. For example, didn't get wakeup calls; front desk staff didn't know neighborhood (for example, was told there was no Italian restaurant nearby for a simple meal, then found one situated less than two minutes away); was advised to take airport bus to airport and told it ran every few mintues, then hauled my luggage to the spot where a bus wasn't scheduled to come for over an hour! Could cite many more examples!”
