  • The beach and the staff!
  • No balconies in the rooms.

“This is one of Cancun's older hotels so if you are looking for glitz this is not the one to stay at, but it has the best beach in Cancun, the staff there is outstanding, the grounds and lobby area are beautiful the room was nice, I just wish we could have had a balcony to sit out on at night and in the morning.”

  • The lobby was the best thing about this hotel - very clean and modern.
  • Poor room quality, poor service.

“Beware! The hotel, aside from the lobby and pool areas, is very dated. There were rust stains all over the bath tub, a foul smell in the bathroom and hallways of the hotel. And there were lots of extras charges (resort fee, service fee, and cover charges to dine-in the hotel restaurants). Definitely not a 4 star hotel. More like a 1star motel.”

  • The beach is nice.
  • Stuff at front desk are not friendly and don't know what they are doing, sheet is dirty.

“I don't like this hotel. The staff is not friendly. I couldn't get help from them. They didn't change the bed sheets even. I called them to change and they are slow to response. It is definitely not 4 star hotel as I expected. I would not recommend it at all.”

  • The beach was beautiful, well-kept and very swim able unlike at some other properties in Cancun.
  • This is a family friendly hotel, so as a couple, we were very bothered by the screaming kids and babies all hours of the night.

“The sales people are very aggressive here. The hotel seems to cater to locals. The beach is the best aspect of the hotel and it is a very nice, clean hotel. Just don't expect resort-type amenities.”

  • The pool and beach.

“Beautiful beach and amazing pool. Rooms were very clean, comfortable and fresh. However, I wish they didn't allow smoking inside the hotel lobby and hallways though. I also wish I had known ahead of time that they would have a daily cleaning fee and maintenance fee. This was never mentioned when reserving the room or when we arrived.”

“My husband and I stayed at the InterContinental Presidente Cancun Resort for two reasons. A 2-day business meeting and our 25th wedding anniversary and to say the least, we were VERY DISAPPOINTED. This place is NO resort! If you are a non-smoker, I do not recommend staying there unless you are guaranteed a non-smoking room. My husband has asthma and I found out when I got home, from the doctor, that I am allergic to cigarette smoke. We stayed 7 nights and of those 7 nights we were told each day, when we asked, that the hotel was 100% booked and that we could not change to a non-smoking room. On our 5th night I could not stop coughing from breathing the second-hand smoke in the hallway and what was coming under our door into our room, so I had my husband call (at 12:30 am) the front desk to ask again, getting the same answer as before, 'they are 100% booked'. The next morning I packed our bags and went to the front desk, with no voice, and asked for a non-smoking room or a late check out because I could not stay another night in that room. The lady at the counter found me a non-smoking room in less than a minute. By then it was already too late and both of us were not feeling well for the rest of our trip, we still had 3 more days before we were to leave and did not do much but TRY to rest outside in the fresh air. This was a VERY BAD experience for the first time to Cancun. Two weeks later we are still not feeling 100%.”

“If you are thinking Westin is a quality brand, think again before staying in Cancun. This hotel is rank- dirty, disorganized, noisy-bad to the bone. In desperate need of remodel. Westin should be concerned about attaching its name to this joint.”

  • It has a good beach, a separate adults only pool, and a lot of out door space.
  • The rooms are a little small. They need a few more people at the front. There were usually just two.

“It is a nice hotel except the rooms are a little small. We missed the daily complimentary bottle of water that the hotel supplied last year. I missed the Audley's toiletries that the hotel provided last year. The Audley's soap is the best in the world. I was disappointed. We miss the water fall that use to be at the main pool. It was quite tranquilizing. My husband is a heart patient. While sitting under the water fall my husband had such relaxed look on his face. Something that I do not normally see.”

  • The hotel was in a good location to restaurants and shopping. You could ride a bus to attractions.
  • The food was not good but the prices were double what you would expect. The pools were not clean and the water was hotter than my bath water.

“I would not want to go to this hotel in future visits to Cancun. There are much nicer hotels for the same price. There is only one restaurant in the hotel, the menu is limited, and food is not good and very expensive. Breakfast for two people $40.00. The staff was friendly and helpful. This hotel seems to cater to Spanish speaking people, very few Americans. The beach was wonderful, blue clear water, clean, and semi private.”

  • The beautiful lobby bar at night.
  • How expensive the restaurant and bars were.

“The hotel was very nice. The drinks in the bar were a little expensive, as well as the food (breakfast buffet for 2 people was over 40$) Beach was pretty nice, but roped off swimming area was too small, (water was extremely shallow) and almost everything closed up pretty early. Even with these complaints, we still enjoyed our stay and would probably stay there again in the future.”

“The hotel is not competitive with other hotels in Cancun for the star rating. The lobby is under construction and the hallways to your room are gross. The hotel tried to stop me from bringing a dominos pizza to my room telling me it's against their policy. I talked to the dominoes driver: he told me it's the only hotel in Cancun that doesn't allow pizza in the hotel room. It was an ugly situation to be put in!”

“Beach is amazing, very large beach and pool area, bigger beach than many other swankier looking hotels. No phones in lobby. Main tower unfortunately gets a lot of noise from nightclubs while you're trying to sleep (it goes past 6 am - even if you've gone out, it'll keep you up if you're back before 6 am), we asked to switch to the smaller tower that receives a little less noise. Should see about doing something if possible to reduce noise from clubs.”

  • Way over charge for everything and was under construction with jack hammers roaring.

“This is no place for a family... a hot dog snack with coke for 3 kids and hamburger & nachos for the parents was $ 100.00 with tip !!! my 5 year old got his foot gashed in a loose board in the wood deck by the pool and had to get stitches. we left after only 2 days. the jackhammers and pounding of thistles by tile repairs was deafening!”

  • Very noisy with children at hallway of hotel rooms.

Children run wild in hallway of hotel rooms in the early morning and night...got 10calls around 1.30am from some children...room kind of small even we have to upgrade it to higher floor for extra used 40...a night...we should have stayed at different hotel knowing we had to upgrade the room using expedia.com and all the noises.”

  • Smelled like paint, standoffish attitude.

“It was above average, but a lot of repairs needed to be made. The staff wasn't very friendly/customer service oriented. There was a strong smell of paint in our room the whole time we were there. It was nice to have free internet access. I would not recommend it to my friends.”

  • The quality, location of the hotel was excellent. It is a very good place for families with children.
  • The hotel restaurant is expensive.

“The hotel's architecture is very nice, the rooms are clean and neat, not too big but there is room and place for everything. The beach (just next to the hotel) is very shallow, which is good for families with small children. The pool was very nice and clean too (they have beech towel service and so on'). Restaurant and extras are expensive.”

  • Hallways and common areas clean and smelled nice.
  • Not allowed to use the fridge in room; only mini-bar items they provided.

“Not quite what I expected. The balcony was a ledge; the bathroom was like a cave - dark. The doorman tried to confiscate our bottles of water and grocery items, then they locked us out of the mini bar in our room. Charged for local calls; no Internet in rooms. On the whole, the President has recovered from Wilma better than most. Room was clean but no water when we arrived and bathtub had problems. Their business center did not have a printer. Concierge was not helpful.”

  • This did not meet my 4 star expectations - try the Hilton

“Relatively clean with good location in relationship to the heart of Cancun. Overall the hotel is nice, but it should have a 3 star rating instead of a 4. After two days I departed this hotel and went to a real 4 star - The Hilton Resort. Same price.”

  • I would like to receive information, without being pushed into a time share presentation.

“Hotel is almost 30 years old, so it could use a slight make over. Hotel staff and service is EXCELLENT. The beach and pool are great for kids. If you like ocean waves roaring into the beach, this is not the beach for you. If you like calm ocean water, it is perfect. The massage on the beach can't be beat ($50 for 1 hr.)”

  • Lots of kids - every morning and every night the kid across the hall was crying

“The Hotel was very clean and nice - although it rained slightly and they decided not to have happy hour at the pool - the food was way overpriced - the staff was helful and nice although the first two days we had to dodge them so we wouldn't have to listen to the sales pitch.   • the beach the president is on is the best beach in Cancun, it is beautiful. It is just a short walk to all the cool city stuff.
  • This was not 5 star. The rooms were like 3 star...if that. Service was only good if you tipped huge.

“The beach is beautiful at this hotel. The staff is okay if you tip them in advance. The President is located just a 5 min. walk from the hub of the nightlife, restaurants,shopping,etc. You need to be near other places to eat because the food was not good. I was charged 32.80us for 3 12oz bottles of water in our room. I wouldn't stay at the President again. Very disappointed in the hotel...loved Cancun. In fact, we are going back in June!!”

  • The best beach and waterfront, white sand, very clean and safe
  • Stay away from the rooms on the street side of hotel - too noisy

“The best beach I have seen in Mexico! The water was absolutely superb. Clean, soft white sand-very soothing to the feet, no rough coral or rocks to climb over like other beach resorts. Cool little teeky huts for those who need a break from the afternoon ”

  • Great location, a room with a great view, one of the best beach locations
  • They wanted to charge me extra $10 in random fees and $7 for gardener's tip per night
