“Overall, great hotel. Though the breakfast was good, it was not worth 25 Euro. Save yourself some money and hit up a local cafe.” Aug 29, 2009 by
MARY from Ft. Myers Beach,FL
“A great location within waling distance to the Riiksmuseum and canal boat tours. Very friendly staff... extremely helpful concierge. Very good overall experience.Great breakfast. clean and comfortable” Aug 11, 2009 by
McKenzie from Fort Lauderdale,FL
“This is one of the few hotels in Europe that offer two double bed , which suited our travel needs of a husband, wife and teenager traveling together. Easy access to all the main attractions, and transportation. I felt that internet access should have been included and the rate was excessive. Even the hostels offer free wireless access.” Apr 17, 2009 by
RVCLA from Los Angeles,CA
“Helpful hotel staff. Everyone said hello, good morning or good evening. Nice rooms with a big bathroom for Europe.” Dec 26, 2008 by
Annie from La Puente,CA
“The hotel was great and would stay here again. It's a great and safe location. The beds were like sleeping on clouds, the bathroom was nice, the TV was great and the staff spoke English and were very nice as well.” Sep 9, 2008 by
Pascal from Ottawa, ON CA
“Allowed me to check-into my room at 7:30 AM after a long overseas flight. Located in front of a happening square with excellent public transportation. Good hotel. Would stay again.” Sep 9, 2008 by
Danny from Montreal, QC CA
“The hotel is ideally located near tourist attractions. It is a bit far from the core area (i.e. Red Light, the Dam, etc) but the distance is compensated by the 3 tram lines that run right in front of the hotel.” Sep 6, 2008 by
Bob from Schaumburg, IL
“Excellent choice for easy access to several Amsterdam attractions, Vondelpark right next door, Concertgebouw a block away, short walk to Museumplein and the Rijks Museum and Van Gogh museum as well as night life and restaurants. Canal and boat dock across the street.” Sep 6, 2008 by
Niklas from Independence, KS
“Spacious rooms, nice beds, but ugly outside.” Sep 5, 2008 by
Kate from Apo, AE
“As usual the extra services were very expensive, e.g. breakfast, internet, parking, etc. The bed although it looked very inviting was not very comfortable. I t was a very cheap mattress with a down pad as an overlay. This overlay slid around on the bed and did not make the bed comfortable in the least. I was very disappointed in the bed and would avoid this hotel as a result.” Aug 19, 2008 by
Indru. from Tampa, FL
“Nothing at this moment.” Jan 23, 2008 by
Richard from Port Jefferson, NY
“While not a particularly attractive structure, the Amsterdam Marriott is perfectly located for tourists, within a few minutes walk of most major must-see sights. The rooms are spacious, tasteful, modern and clean. The public areas are not grand, but are efficient and welcoming. The staff is knowledgeable and very helpful in advising on transportation and local restaurants. A solid choice.” Nov 8, 2007 by
Suzie from Houston, TX
“The Amsterdam Marriott was well located; adjacent to tram line, canal bus stop, shopping, Rijksmuseum, Vondelpark. The room was spacious and well maintained, had a reading chair, table and light as well as a desk. Bathroom was large with nice appointments. Room service was prompt, but the food was not well prepared. Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to return.” Sep 20, 2007 by
Rene from New York City, NY
“Very good hotel, excellent location in city centre.” Sep 4, 2007 by
kavita from england
“It was our first break (without our daughter) and indeed we are going back to the Marriott! The most beautiful part of the hotel was its bed& bedding. We just didnt want to sleep. The location is fantastic. Staff was friendly and helpful. It was worth the money.” Jun 18, 2007 by
Austin from Annapolis, MD
“Great location, 15 minute walk to all parts of the city.” Jun 12, 2007 by
Anthonie K. from Elst Utr, UT
“We where in Amsterdam for a concert, the hotel is very good and the neighborhood is oleo the other site of the street many restaurants and bars. Nice diner by rancho.” May 7, 2007 by
Tiffany from Alpharetta, GA
“Gorgeous room, extremely comfortable bed, perfect location, bathroom was beautiful! Flat screen TV had poor reception and not many choices to watch. Internet was extremely expensive.” May 2, 2007 by
Elizabeth from Greenville, SC
“This hotel exceeded our expectations. The staff was so friendly, professional, and efficient. The location of the hotel was ideal for walking for seeing all the sites and museums, and there were many nice restaurants and cafes close by. There was a trolley line and a canal line directly across the street. The hotel is not very attractive from the outside, but the rooms were extremely quiet and comfortable. The renovations were successful. The decor was very pleasant - the new bedding was superior! Our room was super quiet (even though the hotel was full for "Queen's Weekend") and the 100% cotton sheets and fluffy pillows and mattress cover made it a great place to sleep. The chocolates from the turn-down service were better than the usual Marriott chocolate! The hot water was super hot. The bathroom amenities were very nice. The concierge gave us great recommendations. We were very happy with the staff, decor, cleanliness, safety, location and price. We would definitely stay there again!” May 2, 2007 by
Marcia from Rockwall, TX
“I would definitely stay there again.” May 2, 2007 by
Juli from Pickering, ON CA
“Great location, helpful staff, comfortable rooms, overall, we had a great experience with this hotel and would book it again.” Apr 26, 2007 by
Stacey from Port Orange, FL
“This hotel is well located near two major museums, lots of restaurants, various tram stops and to the leidseplein, a very active area of Amsterdam. The rooms were luxurious in feel and amenities. The water was hot and powerful. I felt safe in the immediate neighborhood. Upon check-in, the clerk asked only my Name, and then handed me keys. No discussion of whether smoking or non-smoking or bed configuration. Luckily, I was not picky about the bed or beds and the room did not smell of smoke enough to complain about. But, had it been a problem, my review would not be a good one and I would have been very unhappy that it was not even discussed initially.” Dec 14, 2006 by
Scott from Apo, NY
“Unfortunately I can't recommend this hotel because of the quality of the accommodations. The rooms are apparently about to be renovated which they sorely need. Air quality problems abound; do not recommend for people with allergies or asthma. Four stars it is not.” Oct 19, 2006 by
James from Missouri City, TX
“The hotel is only a couple of blocks from the Rijks museum and beautiful parks. Easily accessible by using the trolley from the train station.” Oct 3, 2006 by
James from Canoga Park, CA
“While this hotel is well located, it is not easy to get to. The cleaning staff did not start on my room until after 5pm, even though I had left my room at 8:30am. All in all this was a good hotel at a good price.” Sep 7, 2006 by
Lynda from Carlton, CA
“Hotel was typical of large chain, functional, well trained staff, no atmosphere and overpriced room service, meals and other facilities.” Aug 31, 2006 by
King from Rochester, NY
“Overall, it's a good hotel with nice, friendly staff. It's only 4 tram stops away from the red light districts of Amsterdam.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 9, 2006 by

“Very helpful staff, changed money at the desk, gave directions and provided maps. Also stressed warnings about dangers of walking in the bike paths. Remembered our name after only one day. Smaller than most Marriott's, we liked our room overlooking the busy street, but if you want to sleep late ask for a room on the back of the building.” Jul 6, 2006 by
Boris from New York, NY
“This is a 3-star hotel, but was rated 4-star. They also changed me a city tax even though I got the hotel. It's a typical American hotel in Amsterdam. One doesn't really feel that he/she in Amsterdam being inside.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jul 5, 2006 by
Guy from Park Ridge, IL
“Great location.” Jul 5, 2006 by
Pedro B. from Shoreline, WA
“The hotel for a Marriot and for being in Amsterdam, I paid 125 dollar which mean will be a $200 hotel, quality price bad! You need to improve your contract with this type of hotels.” Jun 19, 2006 by
Joan from West Lafayette, IN
“Outstanding location near museums, cafe's, canal tours. Not too far from central station and train to School. Excellent public transportation, good walking, cabs available. Amsterdam is a beautiful city.” Jun 15, 2006 by
Dan from Lexington, KY
“Nice location, great staff, typical American Marriott with the same bedding, furniture, shampoo bottles and art you see in all the Marriott's in the US (Boring!)! Everything in the room is for sale with candy laying out and Pringles with the lids on the bottom and they charge you 5% on all other purchases. Great room for the price paid.” Apr 10, 2006 by
Kathryn from Rothesay, NB CA
“Warm, friendly knowledgeable staff await you. You are at the heart of the city with great views of the canals from the windows of the modern and well appointed rooms. Good room service and excellent, professional front desk service.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Mar 24, 2006 by

“I asked for a taxi to take me to the airport. They told me that they would call one for me. Two other groups were waiting ahead of me. Meanwhile, there was a taxi waiting outside that no one was using. They tried to prevent me from taking it, supposedly because it was not one from the company they have an "arrangement" with. I eventually went out to take it and they tried to persuade me not to take it. It was extremely unprofessional and inconvenient. It felt like I had to take a cab that only they had control over. Not acceptable!” Mar 8, 2006 by

“Have stayed at most 4 and 5 star hotels in Amsterdam but this is always the one I come back to, great location, the best beds in town, stay here all the time when visiting Amsterdam. ” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Feb 24, 2006 by
Cathy from Washington, DC
“Though the hotel was sold out, the staff accommodated us with a nonsmoking room on an upper floor, which meant lots of natural light in the room.” Feb 22, 2006 by
Marek from Chicago, IL
“Location is great. Rooms are very comfortable and well appointed if maybe a bit dated. The best surprise was the service. I did not have to ask for anything twice and when I did, help was at my door instantaneously (from small problem with plumbing, was moved to another room, to having my coat pressed). The hotel has an awesome, if a bit overpriced, breakfast and I also had a very good dinner there in the evening (surprised by the solid wine selection with reasonable prices). The personal service, the restaurant and the bar ( I did not try Pizza Hut, but I'd guess it's better then what you get in the States if that's your fare or if you are with kids) on the premises made my stay very comfortable considering I got to Amsterdam with a cold. So, thanks again to the Amsterdam Marriott staff! Everything in a walking distance or a short tram ride. Definitely recommended.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Feb 7, 2006 by

“This hotel provides a quality stay within a short walk from Leidseplein, with plenty of nightlife. What made this hotel better than usual, was the friendliness of the staff at all levels, from the reception desk to the nice little touches of the maid.” 2 of 2 people found this review helpful.Jan 18, 2006 by

“Definitely will stay here next time. Clean, safe, great staff and good location. Two double beds instead of the typical European 2 Twins another big plus.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jan 11, 2006 by

“Rooms were a bit old, they were a bit under the Marriott scale. Otherwise was good, great location just in front of Leidsplein (nightlife) and close by the museums!” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Dec 8, 2005 by

“ I was charged additional city taxes for my stay. I believed that the taxes and service charge were incurred at the time. ” Dec 8, 2005 by

“The Amsterdam Marriott is located in a fantastic position. The room was immaculate, the bed was wonderful and the staff was helpful. ” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Nov 30, 2005 by

“Amsterdam Marriott is located near Leidseplein, a city square bustling with restaurants and shops. It is a very short walk to the major museums. It is easily accessible by the tram. We were able to take the tram to Central Station and then take the train to Chisholm Airport. Beats paying for a cab or a car service. The hotel's rooms and common areas are typical of a Marriott in the US, and I really appreciated the fact that the three of us could stay in one hotel room. This is unusual in Europe. There were two double beds. This is truly a great hotel for families and business travelers. They also had a business center in the lobby which was great for checking flights, checking online, and emails although it was not cheap. Something like 7.50 euros for 15 minutes. It's probably cheaper to go to an internet cafe. The front desk staff was very polite.” 2 of 2 people found this review helpful.Nov 30, 2005 by

“Good port of the American chain hotel idea to Europe. Big rooms, big beds, great bathroom, plenty of electrical outlets. Internet way too expensive, of course.” Nov 15, 2005 by
Ed from Austin, TX
“It's a Marriott. You probably know what you'll get” Nov 13, 2005 by
Ram from West Chester, OH
“Overall, a good hotel to stay, kept Marriott standards. They charged extra for every little things, eventhough the room rates are very high. Charged extra for city taxes. Rooms were very hot, the blower was loud, and could not bring the temperature down. Had to switch room for next night. The night concierge was nasty, and unfriedly. Should be fired.” Oct 24, 2005 by
Yj from San Francisco, CA
“Staff is very friendly and efficient. The location is great. The room is good size and very clean. Overall a very good experience staying at Marriott Amsterdam.” Oct 15, 2005 by
