• The location was walkable to everything and everywhere. The staff was friendly and helpful. Free coffee or tea, in the morning was wonderful.
• The breakfast and dinner was overpriced.

“Loved the hotel. Quiet and comfortable. Nice decor. Clean and welcoming. Friendly staff. Would definitely stay again. Would also recommend it to anyone visiting Amsterdam. All is within walking distance. Beds were comfortable and bath amenities were nice. Very pleased with our stay.”

• Excellent location! New hotel!
• There is no wireless Internet. Extra charges, like wired Internet and restaurant are very expensive.

“Hotel was under construction, and noisy. I had a light in the closet which had no switch to turn off and through gaps in the doors, illuminated the room, making it difficult to sleep. Lots of multi-floor walking to get to room.

“The hotel was under major renovations so it would have been nice to know this in advance. However, this is probably why it was so cheap as the room was incredible. Modern, clean and spacious I was not expecting it in Europe. There were no other facilities because of the renovation but that was fine as we did not want to spend time in the Hotel as we were in Amsterdam and there was always something better going on in the city.”

• I liked the proximity to downtown Amsterdam and the room size.
• Did not like the bathroom sink and the bathroom in general.

“The hotel is undergoing renovations but the room was clean and the amenities were above average. The bed was comfortable and the room and bed were large enough to easily accommodate two adults. I would recommend that they address the problem with the bathtub faucet and shower head and consider changing the bathroom sink to a traditional sink. The location is excellent for downtown access. I would recommend the hotel to others.”

• It was just great. The perfect location for us.
• Just that it was at the moment under renovation but it was workable.

“This hotel is located in the city center of Amsterdam. Location wise, you could walk to any where in the city or take the tram. It was also within walking distance from the train to the airport. Just an overall great hotel.”

“Except for being under construction, this hotel was very good. The staff was friendly and provided good information. The location was very good. It was close to public transportation as well as being walking distance from many sight-seeing attractions and restaurants. Our room was newly decorated and was quite nice. Some rooms had tubs, but ours did not, and the shower set up allowed water to spray out of the shower and onto the floor.”

• Still under renovation.

“While hotel was still being renovated (noisy), rooms were extremely large by European standards; pleasantly decorated; had a very nice bathroom and closet space; and housed an unbelievably comfortable bed and pillows if I could have figured out a way to pack the bed & pillows, I would have!”

• It is under renovation so no lobby. Also there are red lights outside too close to hotel.

“Great staff newly redone rooms that are modern and comfortable. The renovations are underway right now and so the lobby is a mess. Also, there was no access to the grand 17th cent cupola, even for a quick look, which was a great letdown.”

• Bad toilet, clogged shower, getting charged for instant coffee and hot water INSTANT!

“There was very little charm to this place. It was another Marriot Jr. cookie cut hotel with few European touches other than it's ballroom. The staff was incredibly personable, but the prices were outrageous. No matter what, they need to make arrangements for instant-brewed coffee. Who ever heard of getting instant coffee for room service at a luxury hotel.”

• Proximity to central Amsterdam, whilst not being stuck in the tourist areas.
• Single beds stuck together (even the linen) to make a king bed. Plus at 20 euro a day for internet was crazy.

“The hotel is a 3.5 star. If you need a real king bed dont stay here. Internet charges are 20 euro a day, so if you need to be online be prepared to suffer. Ask for a room facing the inside atrium, as the rooms facing out are noisy. Great location, very friendly staff (the Dutch are a very friendly bunch anyways).”

• In the heart of the action in Amsterdam.
• Hotel is in serious need of a total makeover. Rooms are very antiquated and outdated. Just awful.

“While the hotel is located in a perfect spot for being central to Amsterdam, the hotel and room is seriously outdated. It's worse than a best western or Howard Johnson. I can't believe renaissance would allow them to put their name on it. I was told the hotel will be beginning a renovation soon, but in the meantime, this place is truly a dump. The move pick (though not as conveniently located) is a stunning new hotel for the same price, with beautiful water views.”

• The staff was the friendliest of any hotel at which I have stayed.
• The bathroom was horrible for this class of hotel. Outdated, clean but appeared unclean due to age.

“The staff was amazing. Great with families with young children. Helpful and courteous. Aside from the bathroom issue above, the hotel was under renovation and will look beautiful when done, but the noise at 7:10am woke us all up.”

• Room not worth price paid. A/c didn't work!

“The hotel is nice but the room needed attention! Our room had a garbage chute outside the window since there was a remodeling going on upstairs (terrible view!). The a/c didn't work which made the room unpleasant to stay in. Room size was good but bed was hard and not comfortable. Would not recommend this hotel (room was too expensive for what we received).”

“My husband and I had a great stay at this property. It was about a 10 minute walk to dam square. Close to a great Turkish restaurant and coffee shops. Shopping everywhere and the concierge at this hotel was excellent! Much less expensive than staying right in dam square and a great neighborhood.”

“This hotel is very centrally located (it was so easy to walk just about everywhere), a great hotel by European standards which can differ significantly from American standards. The bedroom was large and the bathroom was well-equipped. The staff was courteous and professional. The concierge kept our trip fun-filled and recommended very good restaurants. An overall great experience.”

Overall, a nice hotel with a few bad rooms, close to train but on side street, so a little difficult to find. If you don't get a bad room, this could be a good choice. Nice lobby and hallways but with at least one very bad room. My room was down a back stair case had a rotting window frame letting cold air and all sounds in, it was dirty and not maintained. Spider webs not removed from corners and ceiling with many tiles broken in bathroom. Hotel is 5 minutes walk to central station, but on side street so a little difficult to find. If you don't get my bad room, this might be an acceptable choice.”

• I really can't think of anything I didn't like.

“This hotel is super convenient to the train station and the staff goes out of their way to make everyone feel comfortable. When we arrived after a long day of traveling, the concierge was able to point us to a great restaurant in the area and called in a reservation for us. Everyone we saw on the staff spoke perfect English. The free morning tea and coffee in the lobby was immensely appreciated.”

• Good location, near main train station. Overall hotel in good clean condition with very friendly & enthusiastic staff.
• Local area quite expensive (expensive city in general), slow check out, no tea coffee in-room.

“Quite a bland exterior. Small public area with a bar and two restaurants. Overall the hotel is clean and in good condition, some areas are quite "dated" in appearance. We were allocated two twin rooms (non-smoking) as requested. Both rooms were clean and everything was in working order. Each room had a mini bar, iron\board, high speed Internet access (EUR19.95 a day). Good shower and comfortable beds. Adjustable air-conditioning was available in the room, however when you turned it off the system continued to make noise (a small irritant) Immanences called up quickly to investigate however the only option was to turn it off completely. The hotel is due to be refurbished soon and plans to upgrade the a\c units. One negative is the lack of tea\coffee in the room, however free hot drinks are available in reception from 6am until 11am. The hotel has a gym attached however a daily charge of EUR11.00 is in place. Finally check-out was painfully slow, however an express check-out is available. Overall the hotel is a good location with friendly and enthusiastic staff. It's ideal for a stopover in Amsterdam and at the right price is probably one of the best values in Amsterdam.”

• Cozy, excellent location, perfectly maintained. The hotel gave us two free umbrellas as it was raining.
• Our room was small and very far from the elevator.

“Walking distance to the train station, yet already in the historic district. Quiet, cozy hotel with a nice lobby and a very friendly staff. Our room was a little bit small but well appointed, with cable TV (CNN, etc).”
