• The hotel was very modern and contemporary which we liked. The room was clean, spacious and had a nice view of Cliffords Tower and part of the river as we were on the top floor.
• The only thing we didnt like was the bed-it was quite hard and uncomfortable. I also thought the breakfast option was expensive at -ú9.75 each.

“Our stay at the Quality Hotel was better than I expected. I was unaware that there were no baths in the rooms but the shower room was excellent.Location-wise it is not far from the shops and bars-about a 5 min walk-but it was further from the train statio”

• Very smart/retro accomodation, the staff were pleasant and friendly. impeccably clean hotel
• Unable to check in until 1400 hrs and were requested to leave at 1015hr when informed check out was 1100 hrs

“I did specify that I wanted to check in at lunch time but had to wait until 1400 hrs and I think check out time should be 1200 hrs and not 1030 hrs - particularly on a Sunday morning. The chambermaid knocked on our door 3 times between 1015 and 1030 hrs ”

• a funny 'whir-ing' sound all night

“Good location, tho better (aerial photo perhaps) map of location would have been good.
To say how close it was to other large hotels, it didnt seem to have any 'extra' pull. It seems to appeal more to the type of people who want to be left alone (good for business men etc).”

“Nowhere to leave vehicle when booking in (risking parking ticket)No access to my car after 2100hrs.Room was not made up on day 2 until very late in the afternoon.Including car parking fee cost for 3 nights was '150.For this amount I would say that the likes of Premier Lodge are much better value.”

• Cleanliness and excellent modern decor

“The room could not be faulted. The overall cleanliness and decor was excellent. The hotel is in a great location for the city centre. The reception we got when checking in wasn't very friendly but was adequate and I think the charge for overnight parking was slighly excessive although this did seem in line with public parking prices as a whole. Overall and very enjoyable stay.”

“sofa in hotel room was soaking wet didnt know until i sat on it as i had got dressed for the evening out and ended up having to change into old clothes.reception was informed and came and turned cushions on sofa over no consideration given to me????”

• Clothes storage was minimal, had to ask for more hangers as there were only 2

“Would have liked to have known about the parking situation before booking, but luckily I read the comments of other guests before we went so knew where to park, but think five quid a night is a bit much. Also didn't realise until after the online booking was complete that it was room only and didn't include breakfast, however, it was much cheaper to buy breakfast in the city.”

• central location; modern, clean lines in room

“good info on hotel available on website + pictures of bedrooms were acurate - i.e. not misleading as some hotels do showing their best room on website when most rooms don't resemble this.
Staff helpful & friendly - rooms just felt a wee bit on the basic side. Decor was nice & modern, although with a few more touches they could feel of a higher quality ie. as mentioned shower, the addition of a wardrobe, better quality blinds (ours were v. cheap & bent & broken). More bathroom toiletries & definately key cards that work, I overheard other guests complaining about this too.”

“The downside to this hotel is the limited availablitiyof on site parking, although there was a car pack within 100yrds of the hotel. Overall a pleasant hotel which is near to all the attractions York has to offer.”

• The location in the centre of york was excellent. Staff were friendly.
• Had to pay '15 to park. The bedding sheets were ripped (big tears) although clean.

“The location of this hotel is excellent although the parking is a bit disappointing as it is '5 per night which I would rather be included in the total of the hotel bill on booking. There is not much storage in the rooms, there is a small space to hang coats/jackets and a couple of drawers but no wadrobe or other storage space, this would be more of a problem the longer you stayed in the hotel. We had the same ripped (torn) quilt covers for the whole 3 days of the stay which was not very impressive although they were clean which is the main thing. Overall I would stay here again but would take into account extra bills such as parking, when booking.”

Although check in time was stipulated - when you arrive at 1.50 not being able to check in until 2pm is an issue - particularly as no lunch is available.”

• Too much free space in room. Very empty

“Nice location for a hotel an overall a good experience. Breakfast was very good. Only problem was the very empty room which looked like it was missing a lot of furniture. Also signs in the hotel were not very obvious.”

• Modern hotel, with central location. Easy walking access to city centre and its attractions/shops

“Having moved from Yorkshire 5 years ago, it was great to be back! All staff polite and friendly with usual Yorkshire hospitality - or am I biased? 5th floor gives a pleasant view of Cliffords Tower. Tea/Coffee facilities in room. No bath for long soak afer walking the city walls but stylish shower with massager makes up for that. Parking on street can be a problem, so new visitors should note council parking at Castle Mills has allocated parking for hotel guests - ask for permits AFTER finding a space! Located directly across street”

• The room was very modern, and minimalist. With everything anybody could need for a weekend or even a week or two.
• The Movies and playstation on the TV didnt work. That was the only bad point, which we didnt really mind, the only other thing is the room service hours, which seemed very very short. They needed to go until about 10pm really.

“The staff were very helpful and friendly, the restaurant was very very good, the room was amazing, the location of the hotel in York is also brilliant, and it was overall a very very good hotel.”

• not much, the only thing i liked was the food
• the room it was very poor along with the shower as it had no power which was complained about

“in the net it sau view movies for pay it did not say 2 movies plus adult movies not really adequate! it also says includes power shower which was infact a poor shower which was really unsuitable which i complained about and thy said would be fixed for the following evening which it wasn't! the breakfast was poor and expensive considering the amount we had to pay for the room itself! it also said modern but it was just junk!! and the welcoming you got from reception was awful! i wouldn't give this hotel 1 star let alone 3!!”

Can not comment on its catering facillities as we did not eat there, but the dinning room looked very elegant.”

“This is the fourth occasion I have stayed in this hotel, including a 2 night stay in May, along with approx. 30 family members, on the occasion of my daughter's wedding. My experience has always been good.”

• Accomodation was well presented and themed
• Rooms overheated with no regard to season, poor parking

“My suggestion would be to look at a form of temperature control within accomodation areas. The floor we were on, and indeed the room, came close to sauna temperature making it very uncomfortable to stay in the room. From the time of booking, it would have been advisable to inform guests of parking arrangements, this being an additional charge for a third party car park adjacent to the hotel.

Other than this, the hotel was exceptionally well situated and with first class facilities. The accomodation within the rooms, restaurant and reception were outstanding and very elegantly themed. Also, all staff we dealt with were friendly, courteous and efficient. In general, the hotel was also exceptionally well situated within central York.”
