“Overall the hotel was clean, but the room did not feel luxurious as I would expect from a 4 star hotel. The front desk staff was very helpful, but on two separate occasions the concierge did not deliver items I repeatedly requested.”

“This Hotel was centrally located, good for entertainment ,Shopping etc. It was right opposite the War memorial and Park , good transport ie. Buses ,underground . Next to the museum . The Staff was really nice and bend back wards to help . One of the best Marriott I have stayed in.”

• Flat screen TV; luxury quality sheets; room overlooking park right in downtown.

“Hotel was better than expected. The room was upscale and luxury sheets made falling asleep in a new city easy. In room refrig and plasma TV were pleasant bonuses. The views from the 24 hour pool, hot tub, and gym area were fabulous. Even with car parking an extra charge it was well worth it.”

• No informal restaurant, charging for local phone calls.

“Excellent accommodations, spacious, clean, comfortable, quiet, and friendly service. We have never been disappointed in a Marriott hotel. We appreciated the laundry facilities. The pool was outside and cold. Would have liked a less expensive, less formal restaurant.”

• The front desk was beyond helpful and the room was great.

“Our room had tons of space and the refrigerator was great too. My boyfriend loved the rooftop pool. The front desk staff accommodated our very early check in and was extremely helpful with tips on where to eat and directions.”

• A little noisy, busy neighborhood.

“This was my third time staying at the Marriott Hyde Park and by far my most enjoyable, except the expensive internet $30/day. Location is great, overlooking the beautiful Hyde Park but it can get a little noisy.”

• Good location to Sydney Harbor and Opera House.
• Lobby isn't particularly nice.

“Fine place to stay. It's close enough to walk to Sydney Harbor (30 minute walk) and Darling Harbor (25 minute walk). Price was good for the location. Staying right on the Harbors would have been too costly for us, so this was a good solution, however, we don't mind walking at all. Pool was closed when we were there for remodeling. It looked like a nice pool though.”

• Location, size of room, facilities in room, big bathroom, spa, quiet.
• Maybe the TVs should be updated.

“Very happy with our room. It was large, clean, with good facilities including hot plates, microwave, sink and utensils. The view was to the Eastern suburbs with partial glimpses of the harbor. It was very quiet both from the street and neighbors. The bathroom was very large with a big spa bath and lots of bench space. Breakfast setting was beautiful overlooking the park. Staff was friendly at all times.”

• Were very helpful when I had to make emergency arrangements to return from Australia to Canada.
• High charges for telephone and internet usage.

“Excellent location for visiting Sydney. Easy walking distance to The Rocks, Circular Key and China Town. Very convenient location for taking the Hop-On Hop-Off bus tours. Especially grateful to the front desk who were very helpful when we had to make emergency arrangements to return to Canada.”

“Incredibly disappointing. My family and I save all year to splurge on an expensive luxury holiday for one week each year. Upon arrival at the Marriott it seemed to live up to its reputation as a luxury hotel. I was absolutely devastated upon seeing the size of the rooms. We had been given a room on a smoking floor which we guessed immediately after the elevator doors opened. When we queried this we were told we would have to wait for a non-smoking room to be available and that we had a corner room which was actually slightly bigger than the other rooms (I would hate to be caged in them if they were smaller than the one we stayed in). I could have cried. I have stayed in a lot of hotel rooms at a variety of star rating levels. This accommodation was the smallest room I have ever stayed in. If you are looking for true luxury and a decent deal then look elsewhere!”

• Lovely large room with kitchenette.
• Internet usage was quite expensive for Sydney - $30 per day.

“We recently had a 2 night stay at the Sydney Marriott on College St. Although no room was available with two double-beds or a king-size bed, we were given a very comfortable room with a queen size bed. The added plus was that the room had a very comfortable sofa and an additional kitchenette, (including microwave, 2-burner stove, fridge, toaster & electric kettle). The bathroom also contained a very large corner bathtub. The only minus points I would give the hotel would be for the somewhat inconvenient location and for the very expensive hotel internet usage at $30 per day. ($10 more per day than the internet price at the 5* Marriott Sydney Harbour on Pitt Street).”

• The staff upgraded us upon check-in when they heard we are honeymooners. The facilities excellent, from rooftop pool to a laundry facility for guests.
• The location, on Hyde Park in Sydney was convenient, but we practically always needed a cab. No public transport.

“We loved our stay at the Sydney Marriott. The service, amenities and location had this 4-star hotel bordering on 5-star. We were upgraded for simply being honeymooning, and were informed about a laundry room for guests to use - which, for a couple who have been living out of a suitcase for 2 months is a blessing - instead of paying the hefty prices for usual hotel laundry services. We loved this hotel and would definitely return.”

• It was close to all the places we wanted to see friendly service and staff, for our stay in Sydney it was very good.
• The room was very small.

• Concierge and front desk were extremely helpful. Loved the hot chocolate!

“This hotel was right next to Hyde park and in a great spot to walk or catch the bus to anywhere. We were given a beautiful room with a nice view and the concierges (all of them) were extremely helpful and they anticipated our needs. We felt very cared for and welcome.”

• Very nice people, helpful concierge, bartender told us about the lunar eclipse.
• I liked it very much and so did my family. Perfect location, nice people, fabulous view!

It's in the heart of Sydney, beautiful view of Hyde park, walking distance to all of Sydneys major attractions, such as the opera house, the botanical gardens, the Sydney museum, shopping and Italian neighborhood with very good restaurants. The people at the desk were very accommodating, friendly, and helpful and overall we were very pleased.”

“This hotel offered terrific value for very large rooms with kitchenette which made it feel homelike. We had rooms with a great view of Sydney. I only wish there had been more than one restaurant, the only one had no casual dining. Very friendly staff.”

• Great location with amazing views. Great roof top pool.
• The beds were not as comfortable as I expected.

“This is a great hotel overlooking Hyde Park. This hotel is a short walk to many attractions including downtown shopping, Chinatown, Darling Harbor, the Royal Botanic Gardens, and the Opera House. The hotel decor is beautiful, clean, and contemporary. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Sydney.”

• My upgrade (at their suggestion) might have allowed for a free late checkout rather than the 105AUD they charged me.

“Conveniently located close to train and bus services, (for Circular Quay - Harbor Bridge & Opera House) and a short walk from the major shopping centers and the Sydney Tower. Clean airy hotel, 23 stories high, with a rooftop pool and great views, spa bath (unfortunately out of commission the whole four days I stayed) good sized rooms, with all facilities you would expect.”

• Not much to dislike, but it is a big corporate hotel.

“The Sydney Marriott on College provided for an excellent stay in Oz! The highlight of the hotel was definitely the hotel staff and the pool. The staff was attentive, courteous and exceedingly helpful. They provided maps, suggestions of places to go and things to see and even went out of their way to help us locate a good kid-friendly Indian restaurant. The pool is the other highlight, it is a roof top pool with some spectacular views of downtown Sydney. The room was clean and well appointed and the hotel was in a great location for exploring a wonderful city.”

“We stayed at both Marriott's while in Sydney. The Sydney Harbor Marriott, supposedly the crown jewel, was a disappointment. The staff treated us as if we were of a "lesser" class than their other guests. They were neither friendly or helpful. The Book of Mormon was in the nightstand. We will not stay at a Marriott again. ”

“This hotel is in a great central location overlooking Hyde Park. You are a short walk to Circular Quay. There is also a train station across the street which gets you there in two stops. The rooms and bathrooms were large and clean. Parking was convenient in the hotel garage and the staff was friendly.”

• Needs a better fitness center.

“We stayed here for the Sydney leg of our honeymoon and were very pleased with the service and staff here. They gave us great restaurant recommendations, directions/instructions on using public transit, and other useful info. Special recognition should go to the maids, who did an excellent job cleaning our room, as well as hanging up our washed laundry on the clothes line so they could dry faster. We did not get such good service at the other cities we visited on our honeymoon. For some reason there were a lot of moths flying around the hallways. ”

• The staff was friendly, the Hotel rooms had a great view and the room had an amazing bathroom.
• It was not very safe to walk around by yourself at night there.
