“The overall stay at the hotel was nice. The room was a bit small and I asked for a king bed and got a queen.” Nov 17, 2008 by
Daniele from Wellington
“We have been there 2 nights. The room looked old but big, the bathroom looked old too and not very well cleaned. In the room, there was only a tiny window that made the room like a prison cell. Sunday morning, at 8 am we had to stand the loud music coming from a hotel conference room where people were having some kind of strange religious ceremony.” Oct 22, 2008 by

“I stayed in three different rooms in this hotel. One of the rooms was right next to the monorail. However, I barely heard the trains go by.” Sep 8, 2008 by
Kessie from Helotes, TX
“Excellent value for money. I would have preferred that you give the customer a choice to put in his own price as you do for American hotels.” May 30, 2008 by
Sarah
“Hotel was great. Front desk answered all our questions about the area. Within walking distance to Darling Harbor. Convenient drop-off at the airport.” May 19, 2008 by
Elva from Oakland, CA
“Bellboy was tardy and unhelpful. The check in staff tried to give us an inferior room. We were ultimately given a room on the second floor. The problem with this is the monorail runs at exactly the level of the window, just a few feet from the building so riders can look in. The bathroom sink did not drain. TV remote did not work. Room was nicely decorated and a good size.” May 10, 2008 by
Sherry from Anaheim, CA
“We would stay here again-the service was very good.” May 3, 2008 by
Joy from Prairie Village, KS
“The hotel did not meet my expectations. The location was good. It's only a short walk to Darling Harbor and to various forms of public transportation. However, the room itself was very dark. Apparently, the hotel is trying to save energy (which is a good thing) but it was really difficult to read or use the computer in the evening because of the lack of light. Also, the monorail ran literally no more than 6 feet outside the window of the room. So, this added some noise until about 10:30 on weeknights and closer to midnight on weekends. In addition, in-room internet usage cost 55 cents per minute. There was no option to bundle the charges for a day, 3 days, a week, etc. I found that quite expensive. On a positive note, the staff was friendly and the concierge was really helpful.” May 2, 2008 by
Karen from Dedham, MD
“Not sure if it was just the particular hotel. We did have to pay a big upgrade fee to get a queen bed.” Apr 21, 2008 by
Lynda from Houston, TX
“This hotel exceeded my expectations as it was listed as a 3 star and definitely seemed more a 4 star-internet & phone calls were very pricy though.” Apr 12, 2008 by
Kelli
“First room was non-smoking but clearly had been recently smoked in. Desk clerk was very helpful in locating us to nicer (smoke free) room. Nice breakfast with excellent service; nice bar.” Apr 1, 2008 by
Ken from Denver, CO
“I booked the "superior room" at the HI because it was substantially less than other similar hotels. My expectation is that the room would have either one king/queen bed or two doubles. I was wrong! It was two twin beds! In clarifying with the receptionist, she said that two twin rooms were very standard and many people enjoyed them. She had all her arguments lined up, so I'm guessing I'm not the only one surprised by twin beds. I've done a lot of traveling and can't remember the last time I saw twin beds in a room. I feel deceived by Holiday Inn for their claim of a "superior" room. It was more like a "basic" room.” Mar 29, 2008 by
Stephanie from Oxford, WI
“Good location in Sydney, near Cockle Harbor. New rooms!” Mar 16, 2008 by
Sally from Las Vegas, NV
“Great hotel, good location near Darling Harbor which is a great place to dine and drink and be entertained.” Feb 28, 2008 by

“Clean hotel with a friendly and helpful girls at the front desk.” Nov 11, 2007 by

“This hotel is an excellent value. It is clean and well kept and the staff is friendly and helpful. In addition, its location is central to much of Sydneys attractions, or near public transportation.” Sep 22, 2007 by
Lance from Bulls Gap, TN
“The hotel staff was pleasant, helped with any questions I had. The location is wonderful! Right behind China town, 5 minute walk to the CBD, 5 minute walk to Darling Harbor! The hotel was going through some renovations while I was there so the restaurants and some other amenities were closed. This should have been reflected in the price of the room but it was not. My hotel room itself was quite big and always very well maintained! Over all I was happy with my experience at this hotel and would stay there again!” Sep 10, 2007 by
Scott from Inver Grove Heights, MN
“The lobby was clean, staff friendly. Hallways and elevators made it feel like a 30 year old apartment building. Rooms are good sized. I thought the rooms were as clean as they could be but the painting, woodwork, and fixtures looked suspect. I know the hotel was going through additions/renovations but the postings in the elevator said they were working during business hours (starting at 8:30 am)- we didn't need alarm clocks as we woke up to the sound of drilling and hammering around 7 am each morning.” Jul 2, 2007 by
Dave from Honolulu, HI
“Pleasantly surprised with accommodations for price. Was looking for a nice room, decent location, and got all three.” Jun 5, 2007 by
Angela from Crockett, CA
“I would recommend it to my friends and family, because it was very easy to get around and very quiet. Never heard any noise at night. It was always kept very clean. If I went back Sydney I would probably stay there again.” Jun 1, 2007 by
Leticia from Ewa Beach, HI
“The holiday inn darling harbor was a wonderful hotel for our six night stay! The facility and location were fabulous. The most important factory for our stay was the staff. They were fabulous! Their customer service is right on the mark. No above the mark. They deserve raises!” May 5, 2007 by
David from Portland, OR
“Well maintained facility with very accommodating staff. Close to lots of restaurants, Darling Harbor, Central Station, monorail, and light rail.” Sep 7, 2006 by
Yi from State College, PA
“This hotel is very nice. China town is on its back door. The Paddy's markets is cross from the hotel where you can buy souvenirs a lot cheaper. It is close to Darling harbor where you can find a lot to see.” May 11, 2006 by
Bill from Alpharetta, GA
“The Holiday Inn Darling Harbor is located across the street from the Sydney Entertainment Center. It is within walking distance of the Darling Harbor restaurant and Convention Center area. Sydney's Chinatown district is only a block away from the hotel.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.May 2, 2006 by

“Hotel is in a very good location. This is forth stay in Sydney and this was our best stay. This includes the last stay at the Sheraton down. If we have occasion to go back will try and book this hotel.” May 1, 2006 by
Margaret from Surrey, BC CA
“During our 3 nights stay the staff were able to answer all our questions and were helpful with wake up calls and taxi requests.” Apr 28, 2006 by

“This hotel has met everything a leisure travels need. Well managed and very clean, spacious room. I did not bring my laptop so I wish there is a public Internet in a common area.” Dec 25, 2005 by

“Location, Location, Location. This hotel was clean and in a safe area, all within walking distance to parks, shopping centers, china town and Oxford Street. This hotel met all of my expectations.” Dec 19, 2004 by
Kazuhiko O. from Corvallis “It was nice location in Chinatown and easy access to the central station by walk. In this area, shops are open till late compared to other areas in Sydney City. My room was on the third floor and monorail was running just in front of the room window, so that I was woken up by the noise every early morning. ” Dec 1, 2004 by
Susan M. from Indiana “The Darling Harbour Holiday Inn was everything we were looking for--clean, good restaurant, smooth check-in, and within walking distance of all the Sidney attractions we wanted to see, from the Darling Harbour area to the Harbour Bridge to the Quay to the Botonic Garden. We got a top-notch hotel for a very reasonable price. The Holiday Inn even kept our bags for us so we could sight-see until check-in time. Thanks.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.
