“Located in the heart of the Gangnam business district, between the Gangnam-gu and Coex entertainment/restaurant areas, accessible by taxi or Metro. The nearest Metro station, Yeoksam, is a convenient gateway for access to all major areas of Seoul. Hotel rooms are functional and cozy, and the hotel and area are English language-friendly.”

• Fitness Center has been refurbished.
• Restaurants inside hotel are too expensive nowadays.

“The hotel has good facilities and is attractively decorated. Facilities include a Recreation Center (including Fitness Center), Business Center, several restaurants (Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Western, cafes and lounges), shopping arcade, travel agency, and others. Lobby Lounge currently has a local pop band which performs nightly, but it's not memorable. There is a bus (KAL Limousine) running to/from airport which stops in front of the hotel 3 times per hour. The hotel may have lost some of the friendliness or energetic atmosphere which existed 15 years ago, but still has good facilities.”

• Staff was beyond reproach. Outstanding service.
• No A/C in the winter and no heat in the summer. Very little control of room temperature.

“Renaissance Seoul is located conveniently to the Olympic Sports complex. I stayed there for its proximity to the concert held in the Olympic Gymnasium. The staff was incredible. Remembered my name every time I entered the building. I was very impressed. An easy distance from Downtown Seoul and the shopping districts by cab or subway. Both are very affordable and convenient. Koreans with English speaking abilities are a little less prevalent in this part of town unlike Itaewon. But a little effort in basic Korean and patience will serve you well.”

• The hotel staff was very accommodating and their English was excellent.
• The food at the restaurants is spectacular, but extremely overpriced. $22 for 1 glass of wine is outrageous.

“My husband and I were pleasantly surprised by the hotel. The staff was wonderful and very helpful and their English was superb. The room was spacious and clean and very comfortable.”

• Good location and friendly staff.
• Outdated decor in the lobby and in the rooms.

“Great hotel if you are a business traveler in for a short duration as the hotel is close to major business areas and Kangnam. However, the decor in the rooms and in the lobby is a bit outdated. The hotel is a bit far from popular tourist destinations like Itaewon, Myong Dong, and Namsan.”

• Spa and sauna facility can use an updating.

“Great location, close to subway station. Easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. Friendly staff who takes time to explain. When my hair dryer went out during use, the replacement arrived within minutes of making the call. I would not hesitate to go back to this hotel.”

• Refined Quality Designer Hotel.
• A little farther from the city than expected.

“Excellent hotel which meets and exceeds the needs of the business and/or leisure traveler. I had an excellent breakfast in my room the morning of my departure. An excellent way to start the trip back home. I did find any flaws with this hotel.”

• They meet and exceed my expectations; I¿m well-cared for in a foreign country.
• There seems to have been a strike by housekeeping; trash not emptied, etc.; unpleasant for a day or so.

“The Renaissance Seoul has become my home away from home in Korea. I love the comfortable beds, the careful and thorough service, and the location in the business district, the many amenities available, and the beauty of the lobby. I know the staff is available to answer questions, give directions, meet my needs, and welcome me to their hotel each time I return. I hope to stay there each time I visit Seoul.”

“Good location. Near subway. Nearby restaurants, next to the hotel, behind the hotel have much better service and 1/3 the price. I did like the non-smoking floors. The waiting area had minimum seating. So people just stand around.”

• Excellent location for coax convention center, sports complex, and Olympic park.
• Until rail line is finished, transportation from inch eon airport is by shuttle (~$13).

“The renaissance Seoul is well located for business travelers visiting gingham go for conventions, but for general sightseeing I would recommend something closer to the sights.”

• Very clean and convenient.
• Charge 10,000 won for 30 minutes of internet use. Too high.

“Hotel is situated in the business district but close to the Coex shopping center and many affordable local restaurant. Starbuck is around the corner of the hotel. Coex shopping center is about 15 minutes walk or 5 minutes bus ride. The ride cost 900 won and it is air conditioned. If you prefer to do shopping at Myeong Dong or Nam Dae Myun where prices are less expensive, the taxi cost us 8900 won (no tipping necessary) to get there and cost us 1100 won per person to take the subway back to hotel. Even though we had a short 3 days stay, the experience we had was wonderful.”

• High quality linens and bathrooms.
• Very expensive bar and restaurants.

“This hotel is a good quality four star property. The location is fine for South of the river, but it can be a haul to get to other parts of the city. Staff were gracious and accommodating, and the room was clean, large, and what I would expect in a four star property. The only downside was the very high prices for food in the restaurants. I ordered a starter, salad, and soft drink off the ala carte menu in the cafe, and the total with tax was $50 US.”

• Very friendly...but dry cleaning? don't do it there.
• Dry cleaning bill is about 8 times more expensive than here.

• Prices for extras is high, however expected with quality of hotel.

“The best location in Gannam area. Subway station is just 2 minutes walk from the hotel. Family mart, convenience store, and Star backs are also located in front of the hotel. I also like the sauna and fitness center in the hotel.”

• The breakfast (buffet) is so expensive - $30 per person.

“Good location, quolity rooms, but everything else is so expensive _ buffet breakfast is $30. Acup of tea in the lobby is $13. Internet is $22 per day or $13 per hour.”

• The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful!
• The location is not perfect but very easily accessible via subway.

“The hotel successfully fulfills one's expectations about Marriott brand hotels. The facilities are clean and very well maintained and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel offers highly personalized service and the staff seeks to cater to one's needs. I highly recommend Renaissance Seoul hotel to anyone visiting Seoul.”
