“I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family. The room was fantastic and the staff was extremely helpful. I traveled out of town for several days and the hotel held my luggage for free.” Aug 21, 2008 by
Bruce from Seattle, WA
“Basically clean rooms, friendly staff that speaks English fairly well, shower leaked water onto the floor of bathroom so bring your shower sandals (although this seems to be the case at all the hotels I stay in in China), room was quiet on the 18th floor, cable went out for a while. Unfortunately this hotel charges $17 per day for internet access which does not seem like a business-hotel thing to do.” May 2, 2008 by

“I did not notice until I was in the cab because the cab was late that the bill included a breakfast charged that I did not have, I really cannot reccommend this hotel as the location was not desirable as I had thought and was not as convenient as when I have been in Shangai previously. Also I was not able to communicate directly with the hotel regarding a mistake I had made in reference to my reservations, I honestly do not think I will use your service again because of how you handled this. I have been a crew member for a legacy carrier in the U.S. for 32 years, so feel service is of utmost importance. You failed to deliver. You could handle situations such as what happened to me on an individual basis and not give me the run around that you were not able to get in touch with the hotel in China. I ended up calling them, but because of the language barrier, I was not able to explain my problem. And I ended up with a long distance call that was not necessary to China. Very expensive.” Mar 12, 2008 by

“Having never been to Shanghai and arriving at night, it felt like this hotel was in the middle of nowhere. But in the morning I realized that it was an inexpensive taxi ride away from most attractions. This is primarily a business hotel supporting attendees of shows at the nearby convention center, but for a weekend trip it was good value for the money. The inexpensive and plentiful Shanghai taxis make this hotel a good option.” Jan 8, 2007 by

“The hotel is definitely a -star, the rooms are very comfortable & they have a great pool area. But the location is star. Its not close to anything. The subway is a good min walk from the hotel and the area where all the action is not close by either. this hotel is classified as a -star business hotel, not sure why internet is not included in the price.” Nov 15, 2006 by

“Definitely one of the better hotels.” Aug 16, 2006 by

“Very nice hotel with great pool, but you really have to take a cab to get anywhere.” Aug 11, 2006 by
Raymond from Dallas, TX
“The most amazing hotel! The staff were so nice and helpful, bridging the language gap between English speakers like me and China. The hotel was incredibly clean and well-decorated, too. The gym/pool/sauna/swim area was the best I have seen. I cannot recommend this hotel enough!” May 16, 2006 by
Jeff from Cambridge, MA
“Great hotel, though a little far out of the way in Pudong. Fine for business travelers or if coming in from the airport for a quick night.” Apr 17, 2006 by
Russ from Towson, MD
“Exceptional hotel overall; great service from the staff. Good quality and variety of offerings in the two hotel restaurants (one Chinese and one western cuisine). Rooms are spacious with the expected luxury appointments. Only drawback is the location, which is somewhat removed from the main attractions in Shanghai. However, cabs are cheap and can take you anywhere you want to go. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.” Mar 28, 2006 by

“This hotel is a disaster in terms of service. Concierge spoke English but did not THINK. I missed one business appointment because they would not give me a fax with directions to the appointment , though they were notified four hours before I checked in that the fax would be arriving. When I asked for shopping information they did not give it to me at all. Could not get a map of the area. They misdirected a cab driver in CHINESE so that the driver could not find a nearby subway station and I was late for a second appointment on the same day. Gift shop staff sleazy like used car salesmen, prices outrageous and wanted me to haggle. I finally got out. Lobby lounge wonton soup horrible and when told them they did not cancel the charge on my bill. Beautiful hotel but staff needs training, food needs improvement. I stayed in another Renaissance in Shanghai on same trip and it was super in terms of staff and cost was lower. I would never stay in this one again. Do not continue to offer this property if business travel is involved. They are too incompetent to help us to stay on schedule. I cannot tolerate such delays and incompetence.” Mar 20, 2006 by

“This hotel, while nice, is inconveniently located. You must take a taxi everywhere. The hotel is located in a residential area, so there is nothing to see or do around the hotel. I had to spend so much extra money and time taking taxis.” Oct 13, 2005 by
Mayumi from Japan, IL
“The hotel was great and I would not mind going back to this hotel at all! Although, this hotel's location is not great. You always need to take a cab which is cheap.” Jun 8, 2005 by

“Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Spa was very relaxing and swimming pool was great!” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Feb 19, 2005 by

“Meets my expectations for the Marriott chain. I did expect that a hotel rated 5 stars would have bell staff that would offer to take luggage all the way to the room. The bell staff did not help at all. I unloaded my baggage from the taxi and took it to the desk and then to my room unassisted. When I asked to see the pool facility I was taken through a labyrinth of back rooms and doors for a peek and was clearly encouraged not to look too long.” Feb 19, 2005 by
Michael from Warminster, PA
“Excellent hotel. Most cab drivers do not know where it is. 30 RMB from Train station and Yu Garden. 40 minutes from airport.” Hotel Representatives:
