“Equipped for young families seeking simple to low standards. Needs to be cleaner. Built with non absorbent materials (fake wood/glass/tile) and all noise echoes and bounces around, so you'll hear everything at all hours from nearly all hallways near your room. Plenty of parents allow young kids to play and yell in the halls after 1 am, teens/young adults loudly migrate back to rooms around 3 or 4 am after drinking at the hotel bar. I met multiple people who've had property stolen from their rooms my cell phone was stolen from within my suitcase, which is quite uncomfortable getting run around from hotel when trying to follow up with the report I filed service was okay, but the staff to guest ratio feels like 1:60 they're ill-equipped for good service.” Mar 29, 2009 by

“Nice facility. Great pools and beach. Friendly and hard-working staff. Great day-trips available. Beds are terribly uncomfortable. Food is just okay. Rooms are musty and poorly air-conditioned. During the week, many guests became ill - missing days of their trip. I would not go back.” Mar 29, 2009 by

“I've read some of the reviews and I'm honestly puzzled if people are talking about the same resort I just got back from. Maybe it's that the mold on the walls have spread since others' visits, but the Riu Jalisco was awful. I will say that the staff was nice, but honestly, I don't know where to start. I went in a group of about 50 people and we all felt the same way. Most of our rooms had visible mold on the walls with a horrific stench that made it near-impossible to be in the room. The pools are lovely, but despite having a designated adult and kiddies pool, there are still tons of children in the adult pool. The worst part of all is that if the resort isn't filled to the capacity (which is quite often), they offer a special deal to the locals - $10 per person per night. So, you can only imagine the majority of the clientele there on the weekends. The food was the exact same thing every night. It was bland and nowhere near restaurant quality. What bothered me the most, though, were the hours. Breakfast was on until 10:30 and lunch didn't start till noon. So, if you wanted to eat at 11am, you were out of luck till noon. Most resorts have a 24 hr eating option. This resort did offer 24 hr eating, but I don't really count Tortilla chips and cheese whiz at the sports bar eating. Also, all food was shut down at 10:30pm, so no midnight snacking. However, I will admit that we visited the Riu Palace and Riu Vallarta while we were there and they were both stunning. I would recommend either one of those, but not the Riu Jalisco. Even if I got a free week there I wouldn't stay.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Apr 16, 2008 by

“The staff really is wonderful, the quality of the food is typical of an all-inclusive or cruise ship; it's mass produced but not bad at all. My big complaint is that now kids are allowed in the adult pool. Why? There's a super fun pool with water slides for kids right next to the adult pool, why allow kids in the adult pool now? I was very disappointed. When I complained to management, they said the rule had just been changed.” Jan 16, 2008 by

“Wonderful time. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The food and drinks were great. The beach, the pools and the natural surroundings made this trip worthwhile. Can't wait to go there again. The RIU Jalisco is another RIU success!” Sep 12, 2007 by

“This resort is one of the best I've stayed in & the food & service is tremendous. You can try out the new Riu Vallarta & their facilities are excellent. The bars are 1st class & the staff is very friendly & cooperative. The adult pool is fantastic with Volleyball & Water Polo being a blast to take in. The Kids pool is run very well with a host & a schedule of events to keep the kids occupied. I found the facility to be very clean, the rooms were very clean & no musty smell whatsoever. The food especially the breakfasts & dinners are to die for with themes every night to indulge your tastes. With many cooking stations & the food being cooked right in front of you it really gives you full value all around. The beach is well groomed & the ocean is very warm but due to it being in the Banderas bay it isn't the clearest of water but still refreshing to take a dip. The shows at night are very interesting & its always a different theme every night! We really enjoyed the wine served with the dinner (red or white) & the service was fantastic! Desserts galore & fresh fruit everywhere. The lunch could be better & the selection could be better for I found the lunch to be a little rushed & was basically, fresh fruit, salads & very little warm meals that were not the best eye catching plates to say the least. The rooms again are very clean, very colorful & your fridge everyday is stocked with Coronas, Pepsi, diet Pepsi & orange soda. They also kept the bottled water full & were fast if you called & requested it. There's safes in the rooms & just remember you must have a shirt with sleeves before they will even allow you to eat in their buffets or restaurants. Again, I feel our vacation was beautiful & at night really enjoying the Mexican vendor's who were allowed to sell & display their crafts & heritage on the long fountain walkways. I really well run resort!” Jul 25, 2007 by

“If you don't like music and entertainment, this is not the right hotel for you. This is a family-friendly hotel. The hotel is gorgeous. We had a great time. The staff is excellent. The food and beverage is good, the sodas at the bar didn't taste good, but the ones at the room were great. They have two pools; one of them for children, where they make everyday schedule for children to have a great time, and the other one for adults, this one had a bar. They play Mexican pop music at that pool and made contests to make it pleasant. In fact, when you go some place you have to adapt to that place's culture which includes music. The music wasn't that good, but it was all they had, so we had to respect that. I also think that in a pool where there is a bar, music just makes a great ambiance. For those who don't like music the hotel had pool beds away from the radio and the bar, but still in the pool area, where there were persons reading, and at the beach too. They had food all the time and a huge variety. The Asia restaurant wasn't that good. The rooms are beautiful and were always clean and well supplied. We had a little trouble with our room door and the air conditioner and they upgraded our room to an ocean view one without any extra charge. Great and respectful night shows where children could be part of them.” Mar 4, 2006 by

“I loved the service and the treatment I would to visit the Riu again. I especially loved the staff. They were so nice and welcoming. Lots of fun! The restaurants were excellent. It is located a little far from clubs and shopping areas. And maybe the resort could offer a couple of more things to do. But overall I had a great stay. Also the rooms are great, I love the small details. Tequila, Coronas, and Pepsi drinks available at all times! And I should probably mention that the resort and the rooms were very clean.” 11 of 11 people found this review helpful.Jan 11, 2006 by

“The hotel was beautiful. Very relaxing and very clean. Anything you wanted they had. The staff were super friendly and always trying to get you involved in the activities that were going on at the time. This past January was our 2nd year going to this hotel.” 2 of 2 people found this review helpful.Hotel Representatives:
