  • Friendly staff. Problems corrected quickly.
  • In adequate storage space for clothing, needed hangers and dresser.

“I have been here before. The room was comfortable. A bit on the costly side for value given. Hotel location is an easy walk to shopping and waterfront sights. Mid-week rooms were actually quiet.”

  • Pleasant room. Windows opened.
  • The shower was scalding not and could not be turned down. The room smelled of smoke.

“The breakfast was not included and cost l15.75 each. We chose to walk around the corner to purchase breakfast and lunch food at Sainsburys for l11.00. Street was a bit noisy, but not bad. Rooms were pleasant enough.”

  • Convenient central location, walking distance from Barbican, Good size room
  • Rooms on lower floors at rear of hotel suffer from noise from ventilation fans.

“Rooms at front of hotel have much better views. Request a room on high floors away from lifts, preferably overlooking the Hoe. friendly staff and a good self service breakfast in the top floor restaurant with fantastic views of Plymouth Sound. Although ”

  • Central location. Excellent dinning facilities.
  • Room was dated and poorly maintained.

“Overall our stay was pleasant. The poor standard of our accomodation was made up for by the pleasantness of all your staff. It was obvious that a lot of refurbishment work was beeing caried out. I wish that we had been informed of this and would have booked an alternative room at your hotel. We will be returning to Plymouth in the very near future and hope to re-book at your hotel.”

  • the view
  • we paid for a king size bed, but got 2 singles bolted together with the join down the middle

“The downstairs bar, was cold and draughty, and the TV was loud and in control of the bar staff, who seemed to want to watch the soaps - not what I went away for.
The room had only 1 bath robe, and there was 2 of us.
The bed was supposed to be interntional size, but was 2 singles bolted together (as above)
Considering the price paid for the room ('130 a night), I would have expected soft toliet tissue, not the cheap (council provided?) paper in the bathroom.
The view from the room was spoiled by the dirty/stained state of the windows.
Overall, not good value for money.
We were dissapointed on arrival, and asked for a room change,as we felt we had not been allocated the correct room (initial first impressions of the room had us going straight to reception and asking for a change, especially considering the booking details showed us paying for the best available room)
The repalcement room was bigger, but all the comments above relate to the replacement room.
Having stayed in quite a few hotels, I would say that value for money was not achieved”

  • very comfortable and good tobe able to control temperature
  • staff used the same toilet brush to clean all toilets! not very hygienic. Also they did not wear gloves

“how big the bathroom would be; whether there would be a shower and/or bath; whether my room would be non-smoking (requested but not guaranteed); whether the vegetarian options would be sufficient (they were not - people used same implements to pick up meat and non-meat brekfast items, which meant that I was restricted in what I could eat); would have prefered to have individual toilet brushes in each room!! Does not cost much and is more hygienic than carying one persons' toilet germs around the hotel, in lifts and along corridors”

  • Hotel was centraly placed, clean, modern and had good leisure facilities.
  • Secure parking in hotels own car park was '3.50 per night. This was not illustrated in booking info and was I think unneccessary.

“Spacious rooms, good views, clean and well presented. Ideal position to visit Plymouth on business or pleasure.”

  • Excellent restuarant staff, good shower.
  • Heater not working in room, shabby, had to pay full balance on arrival, bed not too good.

“The hotel was OK, but the rooms were in need of redecorating, but I only paid 68GBP for B&B per night so I thought that was good value, however if I had paid the full rate I probably would have left after the first night, no way was the room worth 100+GBP/night”

  • The fact that we requested a non smoking room with an unobscured view.Which is exactlly what we got. Lovely view over the Hoe and Lighthouse.
  • Can't really fault it, maybe a bit dated.

“Read previous review from other guests, so was aware that indoor car park was very tight to manouver.”

  • it was on the tenth floor offering a superb view of plymouth.

“overall the hotel was good. the staff were very friendly and efficient.in fact the staff are the asset. One small item regarding the TV. Given that i come from Wales it would have been nice to have been able to tune into Welsh/English spoken programmes from Wales, eg BBC Wales, S4C, BBC2 Wales. I then could have watched Welsh rugby while my partner got ready for our night out in Plymouth!”

  • Location, facilities, Breakfast

“Should have pre-brooked parking as the indoor facility is very busy and not that big. Adjacent to the hotel is a small outdoor parking area also very busy. The surrounding pay and display is not very good.

The hotel overall was great even though parts are showing their age!”

  • Spacious, comfortable room, excellent Leisure club, excellent breakfast -good views from dining room.
  • Heating was difficult to control - outdated fan heater. Tricky car park.

“This hotel is centrally placed for both the Barbican(old Plymouth) and the main shopping area, with views of and access to the Hoe and the sea. It was very spacious and comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were generous - wonderful views from the dining room. Bar meals a bit dull. Excellent small pool and sauna etc and gym. Hint - avoid half term unless you have children.”
