“Good Location, i.e. Downtown Nassau. However, this hotel is not a resort, so you should not expect too much.” 2 of 2 people found this review helpful.Jan 12, 2006 by

“While the rooms are on the small side, it doesn't matter that much you shouldn't be in there too long anyways. The Hotel is beautiful, modest in comparison to Atlantis, but its in such a great location you can go to Atlantis, the Straw market, the Hilton has a lovely private beach and pool, There is also Senor Frogs, and three bars in the hotel. There are a variety of restaurants in the area, tourist friendly and ones that have more traditional Caribbean food. Staff are very helpful, they really make you feel like you are on vacation. The bathrooms are huge and very nice. This hotel is a landmark for taxis, so that really helps getting around too. There are also several adventure and excursion packages at the tour desk, I highly recommended them, especially the Sea Island Adventure tour.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Dec 26, 2005 by

“Good location, but quality of the rooms fell far short of a Hilton.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Dec 19, 2005 by

“Commercial with lot's of local activity which is nice. Not much of a beach; location is the most central of any hotel in Nassau. You will be happy here.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Dec 15, 2005 by

“Excellent hotel with great food and beach area. Walking distance to many activities and lots to do. Amazing location and friendly staff.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Dec 9, 2005 by

“Overall, my stay at the British Colonial was an extreme disappointment. It has a good location is you want to be right next to the cruise ships and the center of town. The rooms are strong and were extremely dirty. It was necessary to call down twice in my 4 day stay to have my room made up each time post 4pm. Overall, service was pitiful and Hilton should be embarrassed. This is not a 4star hotel, by traditional US standards, it is a 3 at very best.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Dec 8, 2005 by

“Beautiful grand dame hotel with loads of charm, and exceedingly gracious and attentive staff. Perfect location in the middle of downtown Nassau, with a nice beach and pool. The public areas are very well appointed, but the guest rooms need to be updated and upgraded; the furnishings in individual rooms were more like a motel than a 4-star hotel. Nice large rooms and bathrooms, though. I would definitely consider staying at this hotel again.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Nov 29, 2005 by

“Great hotel but I guess we were surprised by all the hidden additional charges, such as bell hop daily charge, as well as the high food and beverage charge. But difficult to fault the service and standards but wish we had known the true cost beforehand.” 3 of 3 people found this review helpful.Aug 4, 2005 by

“The hotel was poorly located (adjacent to the crusie ship docks and a very loud night club) and the beach was almost non-existent. I definately wouldn't recomend this hotel for pleasure seekers on vacation.” 3 of 3 people found this review helpful.Jun 25, 2005 by

“definitely not a 4 star hotel. it was clean and the people were nice but the bahamas in general is a poor place with lots of riff raff. the hotel was hosting big obnoxious events and senor frogs nearby is always blasting music until 4am.” 2 of 2 people found this review helpful.Jun 18, 2005 by

“Overall, this hotel was o.k., but definitely not the star rating it is on priceline for. the rooms are extremely small (made in the 1900's), the beach is sectioned off by concrete on each side, and there are many charges not listed when you bid for the hotel (7$ per day electric and 7$ per day maid service included)plus the location is frightening!!! the only redeeming qualities are that it is clean and the architecture is nice (crown moldings, etc.)” Jun 12, 2005 by
Alexis from Miami, FL
“The hotel is beautiful. Rooms are mediocre. Bathrooms are fabulous. Excellent location. The beach was alright, the pool was very, very dirty, the outdoor bar served excellent drinks. There were many extra charges added to our bill that were unexpected, and the energy charge was absurd considering I was not able to turn down my AC to a temperature of my liking. I would visit this hotel again, but only if it were offered to me at a steal.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jun 6, 2005 by

“The hotel is too close to a noisy bar and cruise ship marina. Beach water smells bad, a sewer drain has an open to the ocean with water pouring out from the holes. Water color is not so clear neither. Resturant is good with reasonable price.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jun 5, 2005 by

“As I had stated previously, it is a beautiful hotel. It has a VERY small beach and should not be considered a RESORT! This hotel is more for the business traveler as I have read on other websites. It's unfortunate that the hotel is sitting in the middle of squalor and the beach is nestled inbetween the cruise ship docks and well as an old warehouse pier. I would never go to New Providence Island again. I did visit other hotels and beaches and drove around to various neighborhoods on the island. I truly dreaded having to stay on that island for 5 days.” Jun 1, 2005 by

“Overall, the British Colonial Hilton did not meet my expectations. The food was horrible and pricey. The rooms were small and dirty. The tub and carpet were very dirty and needed cleaning or replacement. They placed us on the 2nd floor. They charge you for every little thing imaginable. The beach and pool area were also dirty."” Jun 1, 2005 by

“Very poor service, the hotel room floor was dirty, they tried to overcharge for juices beyond the expiration date. They did not disclose that there were additional charges to the room for maid service, the doorman (who rarely opened the door), and energy consumption (Ive never heard of this charge before). And the bartender wouldnt make a frozen drink because he didnt feel like doing the work at 5:30 when they were closing up at 6:30. I would not stay here again for free!!” May 31, 2005 by

“I do not recommend this hotel to leisure travelers. It is definitely a business hotel. The only plus was the location to the downtown area which was convenient to shopping, banks, and internet cafe.” May 25, 2005 by
Debbie from Hoboken, NJ
“The Hilton has a great location and the pool is nice. The hotel restaurant is over priced though and the maids often came very late in the day. I would say the hotel is a good value for Nassau overall.” May 13, 2005 by
Fran from Charlotte, NC
“Nicely appointed hotel on the edge of the business district in Nassau. Staff was very professional and helpful. Old-world ambience. A nice mix of American, European and Bahamian guests and visitors. Had a fabulous massage at the adjoining spa. Those looking for over-the-top, Vegas-style opulence will be disappointed.” May 13, 2005 by
Erin from Egg Harbor Township, NJ
“This hotel was very overrated. I expected more from a 4 star hotel. The room was small and there seemed to be a towel shortage, as we never received enough towels. The staff was not overly accomodating as I would also expect. The pool area was nice, but the beach left a lot to be desired. The water was the harbour and it was not that inviting to swim in. We ended up traveling down the island to Cable Beach every day for the nicer water, bigger beach, and the water sports. The convenience of the hotel being right in the downtown area was appelaing for certain nightime activities and shopping, but I would not stay there again. I can not complain about the price, though. ” Mar 30, 2005 by
Roman from Baltimore, MD
“We had a very good experience with this hotel. This is a great choice for people who want to pay a reasonable price for a comfortable stay. There are not too many excess attractions in the hotel such as in Atlantis but its beach is less crowded and it is located right in the heart of Nassau next to the Straw Market and Main 'Shopping Street'. We only had three challenges: we had to replace the magnetic keys to our rooms several times, our room was not ready by check-in time, and the concierge staff did not handle our luggage properly.” Mar 4, 2005 by
Alison from Woodside, NY
“Awful rooms. Awful service. Great location. Great beach.” Jan 25, 2005 by
Helene from Newtown, PA
“It was very nice to receive an oceanview room for my price. I asked for one upon arrival and was turned down, but at check-in time we did receive an oceanview. This hotel may not be for everyone though, being in town was great for us, it was our morning walk every day and usually night. Very accommodating hotel I felt.” Hotel Representatives:
